This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

We recently stayed at The Quin for 2 nights at the end of 2.5 week West Coast USA trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We arrived at the hotel to find construction was going on outside (we had not been made aware of this) and therefore it was a little difficult for our taxi to park outside. Check-in was fairly quick, the lady behind the desk was pleasant but we did not feel welcomed in the same way we had been at the 3 previous hotels we had just stayed in. The corridor to our room was dark and dimly lit. The first thing we noticed when entering our room was how small it was, even by New York standards. Some of the furniture is too big for the room and the large air conditioning unit is on the floor below the window which takes up a lot of space. It is also quite noisy. There was a wet patch on the armchair in the room and we had specifically requested for no down/feathers in any of the bedding at the time of making our booking. Two of our pillows were feather filled (we did not have any issues with bedding in our previous 3 hotels). Not a great start. We went back downstairs (leaving our cases in the room) to mention the issues at the front desk. The lady who had previously checked us in said she would ensure housekeeping would sort everything out and recommended that we bring our suitcases downstairs as she was unsure if we would be going back in to the same room. To be fair, the issues were resolved quite quickly (we were placed back in the same room so has to take our suitcases back up) and the head of housekeeping escorted us to our room to ensure all was resolved, which it was. The hotel didn’t seem to be aware that the purpose of our trip was to celebrate our wedding anniversary (we had previously contacted them to advise we were visiting for this occasion) and subsequently when we came back to the room later that day there was a card and a boxed gift to congratulate us which was a kind gesture. All in all, we were happy that it was only two nights we had to put up with in this hotel room. We paid an extortionate amount for the room which made the whole situation even worse. The hotel advertises itself as a 4.5 star hotel. It isn’t. The bathroom was 4 stars, the room 3 stars. I have stayed in several hotels in Manhattan, all which have been great. This one was by far the worst and we definitely won’t be staying again. When we checked out, again the (different) lady behind the front desk was pleasant but didn’t even bother to ask how our stay had been. Had we been asked, we definitely would have mentioned some of the above as constructive feedback. The staff just don’t seem that bothered really. Pros: Great location close to shops, Central Park etc, comfortable bed. Cons: Small and poorly decorated rooms. Service could be better. Massively overpriced.

After a "false" start in NYC with friends booking a totally inappropriate hotel for us, Hilton Hotels suggested we stay at the Quin Central Park. This was the area I was originally looking to book in when planning our stay in New York so we agreed and changed hotels. From the very first greeting we knew we were in the right hotel for us. We arrived well before the allocated checkin time but this was not an issue for the reception staff who were genuinely friendly and helpful. When I questioned if they had a larger room available it was no trouble at all and we were given our room immediately. The Quin was very tastefully decorated and the rooms are extremely comfortable, we were given a junior suite, one of the windows faced Central Park which was a lovely surprise. The bedding was luxurious and the linen was beautiful. As this was our first time in NYC we took full advantage of the concierge's knowledge and were given very good restaurant tips and advice. Every staff member we encountered greated us with warmth and were extremely helpful and professional. We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant connected with the hotel but our breakfast was not as good as it should have been so we only tried it once. The hotel is in a great position, one block from Central Park, and in the opposite direction one block from Carnage Hall. It's also an easy stroll to the theatres and there are plenty of good restaurants within a short walk. Across the road is a 24 hour convenience store and cafes down the block. I know if we had stayed in our original hotel we would not have enjoyed our stay half as much, thank you Quin Hotel staff for helping to make our first visit to New York fabulous.

This used to be my favorite hotel for its location, service and value. After my stay in July, I booked here again last week. I checked in late at night and was hungry. To my surprise and disappointment, I learned that there’s no more room service at all. The minibar in my room was also empty. No drinks or snacks. I was told that there had been a change in ownership in August and now the hotel has no food service of any kind.

I understand NY to have a standard of smaller rooms in this area however I do have to point out how misleading the pictures are to the reality. I would not have paid a premium to stay in this size of a room.

The Quin Exceeded our expectations. We had two queen beds and 4 females. The room was a great size, with very comfortable beds/pillows. The bathroom was a great size and the shower had very good water pressure. It was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent location too. Five Star for this hotel!
