We spent a week staying at the YMCA, which is convenient to the NYC Metro and seems very safe, so long as you take the usual precautions for any large american city. The accommodations are spartan, as is usual for the business model and there is no restaurant or useful food vending machines. Nevertheless there are reasonable cost local eateries...

One of the cheapest options in Manhattan, actually I could not find a cheaper hostel in New York at the time I booked. Located in the heart of Harlem, with 135 St subway station just next to it and many buses that send you to the centre of Manhattan. The rooms were tiny, with barely enough space for you and...

I was on a solo visit and stayed at Harlem YMCA for 3 nights in Oct 2015. I had a single room on 7th floor and it was very clean. The bed linen was clean n towels were changed daily. The toilets / bathroom was also very clean. Though it was a shared bathroom i never found any queues (between...

We stayed there from 9th until 16th of September 2014. NYC is an expensive city and we're able to save money in this hostel. It has a nice bedroom, was clean and safe. Also, the people in Harlem are very friendly. It is near the central park and the subway is 5 minutes walk so you can go to downtown...

Good hostel located in North of Manhattan, precisely in Harlem. Very close to subway station, super markets and main services. Rooms are very basic, equipped with TV and noisy AC. Personnel is friendly and helpful, rooms and shared bathrooms are mostly clean and well working. Cheapest solution in NYC.

Cheap, clean, safe and a nice view from the windows. Is only 10 streets away from central park. There is a metro station next to the building so is easy to get access to the entire city. I am gonna stay there again.

My friend and I had a 5 day adventure in New York and needed somewhere affordable to stay which was still reasonably close to the city centre - this was it! Initially we got a taxi from the centre out to Harlem, in traffic this took about 25 minutes but was interesting chatting to the driver and seeing the sites....

It's a nice place were you can find the most simple accommodations. Perfect to spend the night and go around all day. It's very clean and the staff is very nice and friendly. Our room was a non private bathroom, but that was not a problem because there were at least 3 full bathrooms in our side of the floor...
