If PBS British dramas or PBS in general is your "cup of tea", the Library Hotel is the New York City hotel for you! Firstly, it is a "Boutique Hotel" with the warm and cosy ambience this title implies (and with very comfortable beds, too.).Then the location is ideal, especially for the first-time NYC visitor! The charming Bryant Park, featuring the Bryant Park Grill at which we dined almost daily, is just a block or two away with the beautiful NYC Library on the same block as the park and the historical Grand Central Station down the street from it. Also, from the Library Hotel's inviting little patio enclaves are majestic views of the Empire State Building and the beautiful Chrysler Building both of which are close walking distance. As an added bonus, adjacent to the hotel is the delightful Madison and Vine restaurant for easy, delicious and relaxing dining. Rob, the hotel manager, handled us with kindness and grace and the other hotel personnel were all professional, kind and helpful. I might add that during our NYC visit we stayed at two other hotels, the Refinery Hotel, which was a huge disappointment for us and that I recommend for the young only with their very popular though extremely loud, crowded rooftop bar also showcasing amazing views. And the other one being the high-quality, beautiful and equally comfortable to Library Hotel though very expensive in comparison, ! Hotel Central Park, in which we had a wondrous park view. My husband and I were most satisfied and content with the quaint and cozy Library Hotel and will be returning to NYC sooner rather than later because of this wonderful find! Thank you, Rob, for your kind and attentive service!

As (pre-COVID) frequent visitors to NYC, we have had our eye on the Library Hotel for a long time. The rates are usually pretty high, so we weren't able to check it out until recently, when we spotted a rate we could manage for a few nights. We enjoyed our stay at this well-located hotel with lovely public spaces (a well furnished 2nd floor lounge as well as a rooftop terrace) and thoughtful amenities (the lounge is stocked with bottled water, soft drinks, an espresso machine, snacks, etc), covered by a nightly fee in addition to the room rate (not called a resort fee, but similar). Our room was mythology-themed, which was quirky and pleasant, and we had a swell view of the Public Library. The room was not otherwise too special. The TV options were limited, but we took advantage of the hotel's DVD library and watched a movie. Staff were friendly, though not always too knowledgeable (we arrived late, after the hotel bar had closed--when I asked if there were a bar nearby that would be open, I was told no--not in midtown. This was false. Google found me a few open bars within blocks, including a really lovely one on the next street). The bar upstairs--when open--is a great destination also--terrific views and atmosphere. Because of COVID, room cleaning service was only by request; we did request service once and it was well done. We are really glad we had the opportunity to check this place out.

Hi Deb O, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are happy to see that we were able to host you for a few nights and that you enjoyed your stay at our little oasis on Madison Avenue. Our Reading Room on the second floor is a nice and quiet place for all of our guests to relax and enjoy a few snacks or refreshments after a busy day of touring the city. We’re sorry to hear that our Front Desk Agent was unaware of any opened bars in the area. It has been very difficult to keep track of all the local businesses in the area along with the ever-changing guidelines set by our Governor. NYC just recently lifted all restrictions and businesses are beginning to reopen and expand hours that were previously very limited. We are happy that you have enjoyed your stay with us and we hope we can welcome you back many more times in the future. Best Regards, Justin Scimeme Sales Manager

Loved this little gem. The service was fantastic; they even gave us an umbrella to take, as it was pouring rain as we left for airport. Lots of free amenities; water bottles in room fridge, 2nd floor for coffee/cappuccino/snacks/iced tea...and of course thousands of books everywhere to read. Very quiet; never heard another guest. Rooftop bar.

This is my new favorite hotel in NY. Great location, beautiful rooms, every single person we interacted with was amazingly nice and helpful and books everywhere! (A whole new meaning to the phrase, so many books, so little time). And they were so understanding and helpful when we had to keep changing our reservations due to Covid and a rescheduled friend's wedding. And I almost never eat in hotel resturants but this one was very good and not overpriced (for the area). All in all we had a wonderful weekend there.
