It is completely different to any place I have stayed in before. The room was larger than most with failed aspirations of grandure and a few homely touches you'd find in run-down motels. Staff were really helpful and the art throughout the hotel, especially in the stairwells was really interesting. Good restaurants nearby (including the spanish one next door) and...

Went to see this iconic spot. The front desk guy said they would be closed till 2018 for reservations. Very cool looking building from the outside. Inside the lobby was just blah. Hopefully renovating will make an improvement.

Clean rooms, pleasant staff, good basic breakfast, and located in the wonderful neighborhood of Chelsea. Close walking distance to cafes, subway, Highline and the Flatiron building. Staff was organized (breakfast tickets) and attentive, refilling coffee and breakfast items quickly. Friendly clientele made it easy to socialize with several international people I met there. Bathrooms cleaned daily. Nice common area with...

When our history curbed by evil and self-protective intentions, we all be forced to experience to follow a tough course if only you are sensitive enough to other people. It's good to share a bathroom with a mediocre but well-mannered writer on his mission, but you only need to purchase at nearby Barnes & Noble your next year Large Professional...

The hotel is very located and i have to say give an old school feel to what hotels have been in the past. If you every want to be close to the action and pay a rate which is fare then this is the place to travel too. Try and stay in a room which is as high as possible...

The Chelsea was my home for two years, 1969-1971. My children sometimes stayed over in their own room. My daughter baby sat for the likes of Viva. Yes, it had cockroaches. All of New York does. And the bathroom for my room was down the hall. I had running water in a sink. A rating does not count because the...

I have stayed many times at the Chelsea Hotel and can only say that its always been a wonderful experience. The hotel is not new, its not shiny but its steeped in history and if you are bold enough you can wander the halls and find the room that Sid and Nancy occupied....Rooms are basic but clean and the vibe...

Though a little run down, one stays in Chelsea hotel for its long history or art and rock and roll and central Manhatten position. Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Allen Ginsberg have all stayed in this hotel. 2001: a space Odyssey was written whilst Arthur C. Clarke was staying here. Crazy events have occured here, like the stabbing...

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
