Location, Location, Location. Hotel was in the middle of everything. Staff was nice, helpful, and proactive. Room was excellent. Bed was great. Room was clean. Fitness center was nice. Shower was a little low. Walking distance to 5th Ave. Couldnt of been happer with the hotel.
Hotel staff ( front desk and bellmen) were very attentive and tried to help where they could. This made me first trip here more at ease. Rooms are clean and comfortable making it feel like a friendly place you want to come back too
Great hotel! Jaime helped us catch our train by hailing a cab. I will be coming back for sure. The staff was extremely helpful and let us store our bags even though we were going out for the rest of the day.
The Benjamin is a delightful boutique sized hotel located conveniently near Grand Central Station. Rooms are meticulous and tastefully decorated. The hotel is currently being updated and, as a result, on site coffee shop is closed. Unfortunately, the added 25% of additional taxes and fees above the rack price is excessive. The small "resort fee" the hotel adds on is absurd because there's no resort amenities! Front desk is pleasant but there is no concierge on site to help in booking local reservations.
The very best thing about The Benjamin Is all of it!!! The people, the staff TOOK EXCELLENT CARE of us! I truly mean this. My adult son and I traveled from the West Coast and believe me I know good service when I experience it (or not). Anya is the Concierge and I considered her my friend away from home; All housekeeping but especially Grace and Rose are effective, efficient and work VERY hard . The front desk staff all and especially Merril and Jason always pleasant helpful no matter the time day or night! Then we have the Bellmen and security gentlemen. The names I remember but all are so very helpful and talkative when I wanted Lee is of the Security gentleman and Angelo I remember who is one of the Bellman. I stayed for a week and REALLY did not want to leave. Aaah... I am definitely staying there again in the Fall. Yes also of course the beds and fold out sofa and linen all superb and just a beautiful space. Go! Stay! I guarantee you will enjoy! Only issue: the radiator in our room got noisy for some reason but immediately was attended to by engineering with one phone call. go! Yohanah, stayed end of Feb first week of March 2023…
My husband and I recently stayed for an extended period of time at The Benjamin for work and to see family. The concierge, Anya, was particularly responsive and helpful in making sure that we had what we needed to make our stay comfortable in the suite and gave us lists of excellent restaurants and shops in the neighborhood. All of that allowed us to focus and make The Benjamin our home for an entire month. Anya was lovely to work with.
I just stayed (2 rooms) at this hotel. I had stayed here more than once- before the pandemic and before Sonesta acquired it. This is the first time I have stayed here since Sonesta bought it — and the first time I ever stayed in a”Sonesta” facility. For reference, I and my wife travel every month both domestically and internationally, and have stayed in all kinds of hotels, usually those more highly rated than this one, but on occasion (especially when I’m traveling without my wife, as was the case on this trip) at lower rated facilities. When I booked our two rooms ( me and 1 for my granddaughter and her mom) I made the mistake of assuming it would be similar to prior times i had stayed here (just before the pandemic I had booked 6 rooms, but then had to cancel because of Covid). BIG MISTAKE. THE RESERVATIONS I made for this trip told me the “total charge” —. But it FAILED TO CLEARLY specify that the stated “total” did not include something called a “facility” charge — an additional$42/day/room which amounted to an additional 20% or $210 +taxes per room. To compound the NONDISCLOSURE OF KEY INFORMATION, when we arrived at the hotel we discovered it was undergoing major renovation and that the restaurant it used to have(which we had used for breakfast in the past) , was closed. And we also discovered NO ROOM SERVICE. when I asked at the front desk whether the fact that there was no restaurant or room service of food was disclosed and was told it was “on the website”. I checked and found if you filled down several layers on the site and found FAQs and located a question of whether there was a restaurant there was, indeed, an answer :”Temporarily Closed”. What a sham. Finally, when I asked for a waiver of the “Facility Fee” and was refused one, I asked how they justified such a fee when they have no restaurant and no food service. I was told it was for the gym and for access to a small cabinet of “food items” for sale in the front lobby!! Based on the foregoing. and the answers I got from front desk, I will never return here or go to any other Sonesta facility and I advise others to be VERY CAREFUL before booking a stay. Michael…
We love The Benjamin hotel and have stayed here many times. Right now they are under renovation in the food service - so no room service- BUT - the rate is the best deal in NYC. There are many food options so close by, and our room had a kitchenette - as I believe most rooms do.
We were greeted with a personalized note and luxury chocolate box upon arrival. The room was spacious with luxury appointments everywhere. Staff epitomized hospitality!! Thank you for a memorable 15th anniversary celebration! Location was in the mix of amazing top notch restaurants and bars with Rockefeller center a short walk away. After a long day of exploring, it was a delightful treat to come back to room with a heated bathroom floor, and a kitchen space to mix our own cocktails before enjoying a restful night sleep on a bed with premium linens and plush pillows! The in room robes were the best. Thank you to the entire Benjamin Sonesta staff!
There are some good news. Convenient location and a larger than expected room with smart layout that includes a kitchenette. Great pet policy. On the negative side the lack of room service, no mini fridge in the room or bar in the hotel would not qualify it as 4 stars. The unpleasant surprise came though when discovering the MANY taxes and fees added to the initially quoted price. Also, somehow confused the news come exclusively from the left leaning CNN or MSNBC. As an immigrant who left a Communist country years ago I am uncomfortable getting the news from one side only, but this is just me, traumatized by propaganda.
