This hotel turns off their air conditioning so the rooms are very uncomfortable and stuffy. To make things worse the front desk doesn't seem to know it's turned off for the season. I called about the air not working and a quickly rising temp, they said they'd send someone right up. An hour later no one showed, I called again,...

When we entered our room, it was very hot and stuffy. Turned the function to "cool" and fan to "high." Went away for dinner. Came back. Still hot and really stuffy. Tried to call down to the desk but nobody answered. Went down to the front desk and described the problem. Poor young woman behind the desk had to tell...

NEVER EVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!! If I could give this hotel and the management zero stars I would. I made reservations for two nights for a room with 2 beds. When I checked in I was told the room wasn't ready but we could leave our luggage and return to check in later. I called at 4:30 that afternoon...

My flight was delayed and i arrived at Dylan after 1:30am to be told that my prepaid booking was cancelled by Hotels.com. THe hotel had no explanation as to why hotels.com cancelled my reservation. To make matters worse, they were completely sold out. I contacted hotels.com and was told that my reservation was still active and they would never cancel...

I stayed here 2 nights in November. This older, small hotel is in a good midtown location. One block over from a Grand Central Station, a few blocks away from Bryant park and a 10 minute walk from Times Square. My room was decent sized, clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable. My only issues was that it was a...

This hotel not only gave away my reservation during a recent stay, they also gave me the key to the room after other people had checked in. My belonging were removed from the room without my knowledge and left out in the open in the lobby.

My room was 96 degrees when I returned after a long day at work. Was told to open the windows and they would send someone up. They never did. No offer to change my room. Just a shrug of the shoulders at the front desk. Unbelievable.

Minimal towels in the bathroom and quite dangerous as the floor is tiled and was so big it was slippery getting to the room from the bathroom . No kettle , advised to use the coffee maker and boil water in there....tea and...

NO HEAT! (staff that night said they were aware of the problem and offered blankets) Charged EXTRA for room with 2 double beds and they refused to reimburse when they only provided a room with 1 king bed. Just received a PARKING TICKET for $180! When I paid them $59!!! To valet!!! (was told that was really the only option)...

I know there seem to be a lot of negative reviews about the staff, but we had great service. When we checked in we had 2 double rooms booked and they upgraded us to an excellent suite for the same price as the 2 rooms. They also came up within 5 minutes of us checking in with the rollaway bed...

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Dylan Hotel in Manhattan unites tradition and modernity exquisitely and with a contemporary elegance that captivates our guests. The building is very emblematic, first having been the residence of the Welsh writer, Dylan Thomas, and later the headquarters of the New York Pharmacists Club. The Dylan Hotel combines the classical lounges and guest rooms of the period with ambiances and areas in contemporary design. We are a non-stop hotel, because the Big Apple never stops. For this reason, the gym and the business centre are open 24 hours a day. ... more   less
