Location is great if you're doing the typical times square things. I found that the hotel was missing some kindness, customer service skills. The hotel room was standard, I think it could have been a bit cleaner and needs some updates (No USB chargers near the bed, no coffee in the room, and toilet paper roll kept falling off which I did report to the front desk). Overall a good choice. They do allow dogs so if you're sensitive or allergic, may want to stay someplace else.

We had a great experience in the Kimpton hotel. We were traveling with our 2 dogs and little girl and a large van. The staff was extremely helpful in accomodating all of these! Joseph, Michael, and Angel at the front desk were all very kind and helpful with regards to helping us with parking, purchasing tickets for shows, and getting around the City. The location is half a block from the chaos of Times Square but manages to be very calm. It is an extremely short walk to 6th Avenue which is great! The only reason we gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because we wish it had room service. They did offer a breakfast buffet which was nice but we would have loved to have the option to order food to the room. we always select Kimpton Hotels because they are pet friendly and they never seem to let us down!

I stayed at this hotel from 1-6 July. I was celebrating my wife's birthday in NYC. Since she had never been to NYC before I wanted to ensure she had a great experience so after reading all the positive reviews of this hotel I decided to stay here. The hotel is in a good location, about 500 feet from Time Square. The room is tiny but the bed is comfortable, the pillows are way to soft for me especially since I have neck issues resulting from a car accident years ago. The shower is nice but the room is definitely bare bones. This leads me to the next point. The hotel on a whole is bare bones. The lobby is tiny, the seats are cheap and uncomfortable. The hotel other than to provide a bed and toilet to use does absolutely ZERO for its guests, by ZERO I mean absolutely nothing. To put in perspective, I'm a Platinum Elite Member, and upon check in, the staff is always supposed to say "Thank you for being a Platinum Elite Member" it is a way for the hotel to recognize the loyal to the Intercontinental Hotel Group (ICHG) brand. Out of the hundreds of ICHG's hotels I've stayed at in my career, this is the only hotel where my membership means ZERO. You can be a Spire Elite member and the staff at this hotel still wouldn't care. To me that is pretty big insult. Also, anytime we check in at an ICHG hotel, we always get points or a drink, not here. You get nothing. At other ICHG hotels, when someone is celebrating a birthday, you are at least wished a Happy Birthday or given some drink vouchers, not here. I can go on and on, for all of the things this hotel doesn't do for its guests but I'd probably reach my review word limit. To add insult to injury, this hotel charges a $25 resort fee. This hotel is definitely not a resort. The road leading up to the hotel is lined up with trash on both sides. Apparently, the $25 resort fee gives you a $10 food and drink credit in the hotel. What does $10 buy you, nothing. A bottle of water is $10, add tax and it goes up to almost $11. They also say that you get free premium internet and here is a big problem. The resort fee is taxed. Does this mean that you are being taxed for the internet use? If this is the case then this hotel is violating the Internet Tax Freedom Act, this 1998 law bars federal, state and local governments from taxing Internet access. Lastly, the biggest issue I had with this hotel aside this hotel doing nothing for its guest, was the fact that a night, there is construction going on along this street. It is loud and it makes it impossible to sleep at night. When you book a room at this hotel, no where does it state that there is construction going. At no time are you made aware that there is construction going on at night. If I had known about this issue, I would have gone to a different place. So in the end, this hotel does nothing for its guests, the don't care about your membership level, they charge a resort fee for staying in a place with loud construction going on that makes for a rough night's sleep. Here is what I want from this hotel. Don't send me a template apology letter, that would only insult me further. I want a refund for the resort fee because I wasn't told about the construction and because I didn't use any of the food credit but also because I wasn't satisfied with your so called resort. Finally, it is claimed this is a 4 star hotel but because of the lack of amenities and poor customer service and because they don't seem to value their club members I would say this hotel is closer to a 2 star rating. I can't believe I paid over $200 a night plus a $25 resort fee.

We just returned from a trip to New York City, where we were fortunate enough to be able to stay at The Kimpton Muse! Before booking at the Muse, we looked at many different hotels, and actually had a reservation somewhere else. However, being long-time Kimpton fans, we decided it would be best to trust our instinct and cancel the other reservation and stay at The Muse instead. I am so glad we did--it was the absolute best hotel and met all of our needs! The room was HUGE, plenty big enough for the four of us. The bathroom was gigantic and provided us with more than enough space. Best of all was the location--a half a block from Times Square! We were in the middle of NYC, with easy walking access to everything! I was worried it might be noisy, but was shocked to find that once we were inside our room, we couldn't hear a single noise from the street. On top of all of this, the staff were so friendly and warm--especially Barbara and Andrew at the front desk. They answered all of our questions and gave us tips on how to navigate the city. Barbara provided us with a list of affordable, yummy restaurants within walking distance, as well as helped us plan out our itinerary. Our daughter was recovering from an ankle injury, and each night, Andrew would have a bag of ice waiting for her so she could tend to her aching ankle! Wow--what service! We were blown away. We are hoping to return to NYC soon, and when we do--you can bet we'll stay at The Muse again! It was phenomenal!
