My check list for a hotel: Good mattress, good pillows. Check. Clean room with adequate space. Check. Small table, a desk space, a good-sized bed. Quiet. Definitely check and that shouldn't be taken for granted in NYC. Decent gym. Check. And no crazy glitches. Yep, plenty of elevators, good water pressure, the HVAC worked fine etc. etc. I thought the staff was friendly and proactive -- I requested coffee capsules -- they arrived quickly, a lot of them, and some water bottles just in case I was thirsty. I wish they would just put coffee machines in rooms instead of having to ask for one, but it's not very hard to ask. Bonus points: I showed up at noon expecting to have to check bags but a room was available so that made things nicer. Some others seem to be complaining about lack of room service but that was working when I was there.

Hotel's Favorite
Recently stayed here in 2 suites for 5 nights, a Sun - Fri. Location is fabulous for all the Midtown famous sites, just know neighborhood isn't very opulent but it is convienent, and drug store on end/fast food and other restaurants higher end near by. We were fortunate to be on highest floor 29th as we are light sleepers (emailed hotel/called in advance for strong requests and our suites on same floor since chose ones that don't connect). Sincerely thank the hotel for this - wonderful since with our 3 younger children and hubby/myself didn't mind sleep across hall from each other so childen would have supervision. Some suites/rooms do connect though but not guaranteed high floor. View wasn't of anything since didn't choose the iconic skyline but we wanted the quiet. Even on 29th i did hear sirens twice overnight but I bought fan at nearby home depot and helped drown out any noise. Hotel itself quiet, very nice. This hotel isn't as opulent or updated as some 5 star ones by Central Park (would choose those if just 2 of us travelling) but this was perfect for our family of 5, needing sofa beds, etc. Great prices esp for location, would recommend!! Service good!!

The receptionist insisted to pay 100 $ per night or put credit card in order for him to give us the rooms And he said if we didn’t do he will never give us the rooms Even though our rooms are already paid by our handler

I am a huge fan of this hotel chain as all my previous reviews will bear testament. However, we are here in late September to find no restaurant, coffee shop or bar. They tried to spin this as a positive by saying free in room service but a hotel stay for mor than one night cannot be judged on the quality of the bedroom alone. And to be offered a free drink in your bedroom is truly missing the point. Both the luxury hotel hotels next door offer a full service despite recent set backs due to covid. They should definitely not be charging their usual rate for this highly diminished service.

Glad to see most of the staff back after Covid. The Sofitel is in a great location, and the rooms are blissfully quiet, with a good AC system. This is my go to place whenever I'm in NYC. I would recommend it highly. One note is it's been a while since the rooms were updated, but that doesn't bother me. Also, the restaurant/bar isn't open yet, which is a but of a pain. The room service was fine, but they really need to get the restaurant open again.

Handy location, staff very pleasant to deal with. Bed very comfortable and rooms a good size. Disappointed in some aspects of the the service provided (or lack thereof) If you have a coffee machine in your room, you shouldn't have to ask on a daily bases for replacement coffee. The first day we were here took. 2.5 HOURS ( 2 phone calls to housekeeping and one visit to reception) to get coffee! We've also had to ask for water and face cloths that should have been replaced upon cleaning of room. I think the staff work hard but possibly there are just not enough of them.

I have stayed at this hotel several times. It is elegant without being ostentatious. The service is efficient and helpful without being intrusive. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The friend who came with me this time described the sleeping on the bed as being like on a cloud. I just found it comfortable. The hotel is situated on 44th street in between 6th and 5th Avenues. It is well situated for tourists: Times’s Square and Broadway is a ten minute walk away and Rockefeller Plaza is about fifteen minutes away. For breakfast or a quick bite there is a friendly diner called the Red Flame a few doors down. However, I think that most of the clientele are business people. Sitting in the comfortable lobby, I see a lot of business people meet up. There is also a handy business desk just off the lobby which I have used. My one complaint is that on this trip the hotel’s restaurant Gabby was closed. I am guessing this is because of ongoing Covid concerns but I think they are also renovating it.

This hotel is fine. Good location, and the staff, when available, were friendly enough. Common areas and rooms were clean. That being said, this property badly needs a refresh. Common areas are fairly dark, and the rooms are looking quite tired. I appreciate a fridge in the room, but always seems tacky to have a former mini-bar fridge simply emptied. Also the lack of any onsite bar or restaurant is a major drawback. Since much of NYC is closing at 10pm these days, and that is also the time the room service ends, you can find yourself SOL after a show if you didn't plan in advance. Will probably not return until there is additional investment into this property.

Fantastic property with clean and spacious rooms. Perfect location for catching Broadway shows and exploring Times Square. All of the staff were helpful, friendly, courteous, and professional. Even though we arrived before check-in, they were happy to store our bags so we could explore the city and get the most of every minute of our min-getaway to NYC.

The staff is vers nice and helpful although the price is absurd especially considering the rooms are in a bad condition and dirty while the furniture is old, in bad condition some even broken: for example the sofa has tears in the fabric and the mini fridge even contained old jars of jelly full of mold and the shelves were very sticky… overall disappointing.
