This was overall a great hotel in a prime location. The bed was amazingly comfortable and I slept like a baby. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As others said it is a small room but this is standard for Manhattan hotels. There is free bottled water which is nice. I would have given it a higher rating but... More

The Jewel provided an enjoyable 5 night stay in January 2012. Lightning fast check-in, clean and compact lobby, friendly staff. Room was small but very well organized and the compact space just worked well. Shower pressure average at best, otherwise no issues with room. The room was cleaned well every day. The bed was comfortable. The room was VERY quiet.... More

My husband and I came to NYC for a night in the spring. We were looking for an affordable hotel that was in a clean and in a good location. We read great reviews of the Jewel and thought we'd give it a try. We were able to book the room for $199 a night which we thought was a... More

Our first time in New York and I was afraid of what I read about New York-hotels (small, worn, etc). Nothing to complain about this one though, it was great! We had a room with a view which was lovely and roomy. Next to the bed area there was a desk area with seats in front of some huge windows... More

10 years of in and out of the city and I hadn't found near a more efficient, well priced hotel than this. No frills; small lobby, compact room, none of the other ordinarily useless hotel amenities you pay for irrespective of their benefit to you. The being said... the property is clean, rooms comfortable and quiet, the service is attentive... More

We stayed at the Jewel for 7 nights over Christmas 2011. At first I was a bit worried about them sending us off to their sister hotel 5 doors down (I read some reviews on there) as we had a late check in (About 11pm thanks to late flights) but when we arrived, our room was ready and the staff... I have stayed here numerous times and never been disappointed. The staff is helpful but not overbearing. The location is fantastic. The price is right. It is clean and the business center is in a living room!

I stayed here with a friend, and booked through hotel comparison website. From the beginning all communication was very promptly replied to and staff were very helpful. Arrival and check-in was very quick and to the point with no fuss or hassle, exactly what we wanted. The rooms were a very decent size with all amenities including ipod docks. Bathroom... More

My wife and I stayed at the Jewell from 12/28/11 to 01/02/12. It is a small boutique hotel located a stones throw away from Rockefeller Center. The staff were energetic, pleasant, and helpful, our room, although a little small, was nicely decorated and comfortable, and the location perfect. Purified water and empty plastic bottles are provided on each floor. Our room... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
