Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Element New York Times Square West garners mixed reviews, with its prime location near Broadway and Times Square being a highlight for numerous guests. Despite commendations for the hotel's cleanliness and well-equipped rooms featuring kitchenettes, some visitors express dissatisfaction with service inconsistencies and maintenance lapses. The atmosphere receives varied reactions, from basic to comfortable, and while the staff is often noted for their friendliness, problems with elevators and adherence to a strict no-refund policy have marred the overall experience for some travelers.

I will start with the positives about the Element New York Times Square West. Aaliyah at the front desk was an absolute professional and very helpful. She resolved an issue with my room and was a wonderful representative for the hotel. Other positives: the wi-fi was fast, the bathroom was clean, and heater worked well. However, the hotel needs some maintenance and better attention to detail. Some examples: no hot water in the sink nor shower and the alarm clock was nowhere to be found until it went off at around 6 am. Why? Because it had fallen some time before I got in the room and on the floor behind the nightstand. Apparently, nobody noticed--nor cared??? And the room just looked kind of worse for wear. Scratches and dents on almost every piece of furniture and appliance, stains on the carpet, etc. At first glance, the fitness center looked great. However, the first three cardio machines I tried (2 ellipticals and one bike) were broken. I finally found a machine that did work and the three weight machines I used were fine. The fitness was clean and amply supplied with towels and wipes. The slamming of the doors was one of the worst I have experienced, and I am an elite member of multiple hotel programs and average over 100 nights a year in hotels. Granted some of that is from guests letting doors slam, but it seemed like there were not noise absorbing features on the doorframes. So, the loud banging of metal on metal was annoying and frequent. Although there are only three elevators for the 40 floors, and I was on the 40th floor, I did not have any problems nor unacceptable waits. The breakfast, while very crowded and a bit short of seats, was OK. Prior to this stay, I have only had positive experiences at Element properties -- Colorado, the Netherlands, Dubai. But the Element New York Times Square West, even granting the challenges of being in the Times Square are of New York City, was not a good example of the Element brand.

We stayed for 4 nights in early September when it was 35 degree Celsius outside and left on a day when it really started pouring rain and apparently didn't stop for a few days. All the staff were helpful, the room was clean and the breakfast was decent - we actually chose the hotel because there was breakfast. The small kitchen had everything we needed. Good location with walking distance to most things we wanted to do. I do think the hotel does not have enough elevators for the amount of rooms they have, I was a bit saddened by the use of disposable only dishes at breakfast and when we arrived there was a towel shortage which was unfortunate after being on a plane for 10 hours. But the staff was very friendly and helped us as best they could so I think that the value for money definitely deserves 5 stars. I would go there again.

Excellent value, very pleasant stay. Nice clean hotel with new kitchenette in the room including a coffee maker, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. Fantastic location next to Port Authority within an easy few blocks to the Broadway theatres. Elevators were not a problem and I enjoyed the many choices for hot or cold breakfast. Will stay again.

Overall the hotel was ok. Room service only every second day, breakfast only basics. 3 Elevators with can’t be watched pretty good. At the reception the persons do their job but are not really friendly. The room had a noisy fridge, so you get awake from time to time.

Hotel was in great location near port authority and the room was fine. The breakfast bar was fully stocked with bacon! Glad that I was on the 3rd floor as the elevators did take long. The staff was friendly.

The elevators! I read the reviews that mentioned how limited access to elevators was.. you can’t believe how it affects your stay! 3 elevators for 49 floors that are also utilized by staff.. waited 15 minutes one day and ended up taking stairs from 16th floor. No ice? I never stayed at hotel with no ice…Way overpriced for small room that was cleaned twice during 8 day stay.. .. location was close to many popular sites and we walked almost everywhere.. .. breakfast was overcrowded.. like swarms of locust descending on buffet.. I paid 2,600 for 7 nights and am sure I could’ve found a better hotel, I stayed at an Element hotel in Atlanta in March 2023 And it was wonderful, expected the same in NY

Cold water only, never even got warm! All 5 days were cold. Great location, so if you don’t care about warm showers you might like it. Cost seemed exorbitant! The rooms were quite small. We were not even put on the same floor with the rest of our group. Made planning the days difficult!

Amazing location if you are in NYC for a few days as a tourist! Close to everything you want to see! Rooms are small (all are in NYC) but clean! Breakfast is basic hotel breakfast, but a great way to save $$ for more Pizza! Neighborhood is rough to the eyes but my wife and I always felt safe, even at 2 AM returning from the Giants game. You will hear a ton about the elevators. People need to relax and understand there are a ton of people in the city and they should simply leave earlier. One tip for the elevator is to go up, then ride it down or request a higher room. I would encourage you to spend a couple of extra bucks on a “city view” room. The view of the Empire State Building was worth it! The room also came with a nice kitchenette if you want to eat in or simply store things in the fridge and reheat in the microwave later. We were in a room right across from the elevator, but never heard them. It was nice a quiet (until we opened the window). Feel good about your decision to stay here, it is great.

We loved our stay. It was central walking distance to Times Square highlights, they offered nightly happy hour with beer, wine and snacks, a decent breakfast with a variety of hot and cold items and our room had a full sized fridge, bathroom and adequate space for the two of us. One downside was the elevator which almost always had a wait so we were thankful to be on a lower level floor to have the stairs as an option. Staff were beyond friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay again.
