Read many reviews when choosing a hotel to stay at for our visit. EVERY hotel has negative reviews - cold water, long lines for elevator, homeless outside entrance, etc. We rolled the dice and went with this place because of the location. We could walk everywhere to the places we were visiting this trip (except the comedy clubs but those were just a subway ride away). Our room was spacious and heater worked wonderfully. Yes, we did have cold/cool water one morning but we got over that. The 3 elevators were working at the time of our stay and we rarely had to wait long (we were on the 39th floor out of 40). We thoroughly enjoyed our fridge, kitchenette, etc because everywhere we went, we ended up with leftovers that could be eaten for a late night snack or breakfast. The staff was very friendly and helpful. During the week, complimentary happy hour in the dining area was really nice! Spent the days walking and walking and site seeing. The HH was the perfect time for us to grab a drink/snack before getting ready for our night out. We didn't really partake in the complimentary breakfast except for the hot coffee which seemed readily available all day. The breakfast consists of the same rotation of items that you will find at many Marriotts. The breakfast area was busy but there were never lines. Next to our hotel was Berlina Cafe...we grabbed a late night slice every night! Great pizza and friendly staff! There's also a 7-11 across the street for you to grab stuff to stock your fridge!

We were on the 38th floor room 3801 and had a great view of the city and the edge observation platform. The room was clean and well organized, to us it felt spacious but then we have stayed in London and Paris. The shower was great and having cutlery and crockery in the room was handy- there was even a dishwasher! Our room was quiet. We had no problems with waiting on the lift but we were strategic and did not return to our room after breakfast when a bit of congestion happened. The breakfast was great and abundant: cheese omelette or scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon sometimes pancakes. Bread, bagels, pastries , yogurt, cereal and fruit were available every morning. There were big baskets of bananas, apples or oranges which was great. The coffee was also good. The dining area is small but people moved quickly so you found a spot in 5 minutes, some people did take food up to their room. There is fresh cool water in the lobby which was great at the end of the day when we got back. The staff were helpful, friendly and professional. This was a great Oasis.

I’m surprised at some of the recent positive reviews of the hotel because this place has a lot of challenges. It’s not kept up well (lots of holes and painted spots all over), housekeeping never came through a 6-night stay despite many calls and different explanations from staff including twice telling me someone would be right up, elevators are slow and way overcrowded—you often need to wait several elevators to find one with open space, the breakfast is dirty and overcrowded, the shower gets to lukewarm at best, there’s a lot of noise both from the street and the hallways/people waiting for that elusive free elevator, and shades that only partially block the light. On the plus side, the internet works well.

With a stay as long as 3 weeks , the hotel converts to your home and it is always good to have that hospitality. Fantastic location and an amazing gymnasium , it addresses your ecosystem. Courteous staff overall but a big shoutout to IRMA at the front desk for adding that X factor. Super pro-active in taking care of the minutest things (billing , check-in ) to the things that matter (higher floor, communicating happy hours at the hotel, request for daily room cleaning, relaying housekeeping needs promptly to them and even suggesting weekend things to do) 😊was my go-to person for everything. She is a definite value add to the hotel. Overall good hotel with decent breakfast spread and great view.

Where do I begin!? Very slow and unprofessional check-in. Took ages waiting in queue and then to complete admin and then to get an elevator. There were simply too many people for the lifts and number of staff working at check-in. You had to wait ages everytime you needed a lift or to speak to front desk. What’s worse is that my room had no telephone which I found odd and reported to the friendly housekeeping lady but nothing was done to bring me one. She just said some rooms don’t have. The room felt grimy and the sheets, towels, couch, cushions etc had marks or stains and seemed over used. Strangely they don’t put full size towels only small thin face cloths and hand towels that you must use for showering! The walls and carpets etc were all scuffed and dirty and needed painting or replacing. The windows didn’t seal properly n the bedroom and there was a cold draft and noise coming in all night which made sleeping very uncomfortable. The AC also made a lot of noise and created a strange smell. The lights in the bathroom and passage had sensors and some went on by themselves at night waking me up too. Plus the shower was sporadically dripping water quite profusely adding to the mayhem. The door handle seemed damaged and also didn’t lock and close nicely. Breakfast was crazy. Just too many people and too few seats as they closed off an area for people’s luggage it seemed. Many items were unavailable and not replenished, so you had to just eta what you found leftover. Check-out was slow too had to wait about 20 minutes but Marie was lovely and very kind abd professional and confirmed I would be credited Marriott points for all the shortcomings and issues I faced. Weeks later and no points and no replies to messages. Not up to Marriott standards, sadly,

I'm a Bonvoy Platinum Elite so I've stayed in many Marriott properties. This is the only time that I feel compelled to write a negative review. So many issues with our room: 1) No cold water in the bathroom. Shower is scalding hot. Cold water tap in the bathroom sink dispenses warm water. Maintenance played with the sink and said it's fixed.. it wasn't. Frankly, this is a safety issue. Someone can get scalded in the shower. 2) The air conditioning system is right next to the bed. It's too cold or too hot when it comes on while we're trying to sleep. We had to turned off the AC at night. 3) The motion detection bathroom light and exhaust fan would come on in the middle of the night. We got up and turned it off several times. It kept happening. We gave up and closed the bathroom door. The lobby is truly odd. There are large floor lamps but they're always turned off. The breakfast room is frigid cold. It looks like the lobby of a youth hostel. Again, the staff was excellent. They smiled and responded to requests quickly. But this property needs to be completely remodeled. Will never stay here again.

POSITIVES The hotel is very well located and bed incredibly comfortable. Reception 24/7- Team tried to do their best NEGATIVES Our Room was very SMALL. The hotel is OVERCROWDED, spaces aren’t enough for 40 floors and 400 rooms. Morning time was a NIGHTMARE. You could wait up to 15 minutes to find a lift that wasn’t full. During our stay we had to take the stairs down from the 14th floor mostly all the time. The queue for Breakfast was insane and food offer shameful. Cherry on top, in 6 days stays hotel had issues with hot water twice. There are way better solution around in Times Square Area

Poorly maintained and very evident that Marriott doesn’t ensure their franchise operators meet brand standards. The rooms are over $300 a night “after discount” and are comparable to a old red roof inn. I would highly recommend trying to stay somewhere else!

The location is excellent. Perfect for easy access to any part of Manhattan or any of the other boroughs. Having a room with a kitchen is an excellent thing to have for a long weekend or any stay longer. The almost full sized fridge was perfect! The hotel was fairly quiet. Not a lot of noise from the hall even right next to the elevators. The windows are well insulated and because of the area, street noise is limited. The hotel gym is well equipped and barely used! The downside… the elevators are limited and when the hotel staff regularly takes one out of commission for their service team, it make rush hour times extremely busy. Add 10 minutes to your trip to take the stairs or wait for the elevator. Breakfast hours are also a downside. Staff don’t agree on hours. The evening desk staff said Monday through Friday that breakfast begins as 6:30 am but the morning staff said and held to 7 am until we mentioned something. Small but when you want to grab a coffee or breakfast to go on your way to work, 7 am means you don’t eat! People review this hotel poorly because of street noise. I did not experience this… but you are in NYC. Unless you are in a penthouse or bomb shelter, you will always have noise! It’s the charm of a city. And the cold water… the faucets in the shower are put in backwards. The H = cold and the C = hot. It was very very hot!
