Travelers' Choice
Set against the backdrop of SoHo’s iconic cast-iron buildings and cobblestone streets, ModernHaus is a gathering place for urban travelers—and a thoughtfully designed extension of our neighborhood’s creative and dynamic spirit. Artworks from some of the most influential figures of the past century grace our walls: Alexander Calder, George Condo, Harland Miller, Jean Dubuffet, KAWS. It’s our homage to our neighborhood’s artistic past and an inspiring canvas for a thoroughly modern stay. Fusing art and craftsmanship, our 114 guestrooms and suites, as well as Jumpin Jacks breakfast and cocktail bar, are modern tributes to Bauhaus design. Clean lines, functional shapes, and ornamental forms set the scene for artful lounging, while residential touches and sumptuous amenities offer home-like comforts. Star caliber dining from acclaimed chef George Mendes comes Veranda, a convivial new restaurant set within a retractable, greenhouse-like glass enclosure that transforms seamlessly between indoor and open-air dining year round. The moodiness and monochromatism of Picasso’s Blue Period serve as the inspiration behind the most recent incarnation of our all-seasons rooftop space, a legendary New York institution conceived by David Rabin. Perched on the 18th floor, the high-ceilinged space is intimate yet airy, with modular blue furniture, glazed tile walls, and floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of Midtown, Wall Street, the Hudson River, and the bridges spanning the East River. In colder months, guests lounge on blue velvet leather seating around the statement fireplace; in warmer months, the action spills onto the open-air roof deck, which features chaise lounges and panoramic city views.

Best hotel in New York! Was greeted upon arrival by the hotel GM. Staff was beyond friendly and I loved the humus amenity with handwritten note from the staff during turndown. Veranda was amazing and Jimmy was a blast with the best rooftop view of the city. I love the simplistic style of the rooms with floor to ceiling windows everywhere. I’ll be back!

When we arrived Saturday at midday and we were able to check in early. At the desk we had pleasure to deal with Yuan and Yumi. Yuan answer all our questions and request. I didn't like the view in my room we called the front desk and hang up, but Yuan was kind enough to called us back to see if we had an issue?. he was happy to check for a better view. He was young but really care to make sure we were happy in our stay. We also had breakfast at viranda and our waiter was also very. good and. accommodated . At the pool we had Max he try his best to help. I will suggest for the pool area maybe smaller beds so more people could use it at one time. At. our check out we also had Yumi she was super nice. I will be back to this hotel. every staff person was very cool, positive and totally get that hospitality is what people need. We will be back!!!!

ModernHaus is our favorite place to stay in SoHo. The location couldn't be more convenient for shopping, dining, and getting around the city. The team is super friendly and helpful—especially Yami at the front desk. Jimmy's rooftop overlooks the most stunning views of downtown, and Jumpin Jack's is such a nice place to grab breakfast and catch up on work. Veranda is gorgeous for lunch or dinner as well. The new rooms are so comfortable and beautifully done, and the views are everything you could hope for when staying downtown. The best experience overall, can't wait for our next visit. Thank you ModernHaus! Rob and Dana G.

As a former NYC resident and for the last few decades a frequent visitor, I've always gravitated to either midtown or the Upper West Side. For some reason, on my most recent trip I decided to stay in a different part of the city and I'm so glad I did. Not only for the great vibe of Soho and the surrounding neighborhoods (Little Italy, Chinatown, the West Village, etc.) but for the experience of staying at Modernhaus. Now, "experience" is a slightly overused word in the hotel and the restaurant industry but in the case of Modernhaus that word is not hyperbole. You're getting more than a hotel room to return to after a long day of exploring the city. With its beautifully designed public spaces and fabulous art collection throughout the building, you're inspired from the moment you entire the hotel by the obvious passion and creativity of the folks who designed this unique property. The staff carry out the mission of the hotel's developers by providing the type of genuine warmth and hospitality not often found in NYC. Mike at the front desk was incredibly welcoming and helpful during my stay. The doormen were great guys, always helpful with directions and a quick chat whether I was coming or going. The staff at Jumping Jacks and JIMMY were very professional and attentive. My only regret is that I never had an opportunity to dine or have a cocktail at Veranda. I did walk around the restaurant one morning before they opened and it was an absolutely beautiful space. The Kaws sculpture featured in Veranda is incredibly unique and a real "I don't think we're in Kansas, anymore" moment when you first spot it. I don't want to gloss over the restaurant and bar outlets without mentioning the chef. Unfortunately, I didn't catch his name but based on the meals I enjoyed during my stay, he is clearly very talented. I had his version of a Portuguese custard tart (I forget the exact menu name) one morning at breakfast which was simply outstanding. I'm sure many other reviews will mention the rooftop lounge and pool area. Needless to say the views are remarkable. On the evening we were up there, a storm had just passed through and we got to watch the residual lighting show to the west over North Jersey. It was spectacular! Looking forward to my next trip to NYC and will definitely be staying at Modernhaus again.

I would definitely stay at ModernHaus again. I love the swanky, sexy art-deco style balanced with a clean, modern look. The rooms were clean and had nice extras such as a Nespresso machine, thrice filtered water in glass bottles, robes, slippers, and a full-size mirror in the closet door. Everyone at the hotel is so kind, and I truly felt like a valued guest. We were given a complementary upgrade to a better view and 2 free drink credits at any bar except the rooftop club. The drinks at the Veranda were awesome, and the vibe there was perfect for couples. I was a bit disappointed by the pool. First of all, the pool deck was tiny. There were a dozen chairs (or less), and everything was very close together. Second, the hours aren't great. The pool closes at 2PM on weekends and 4PM on weekdays. For a 3PM check-in, that guarantees you won't be able to enjoy the pool on your first night. On top of that, the bar opens at 1:30. I think that enjoying a drink with lunch is perfectly reasonable, especially while sunbathing on an NYC rooftop. It was hot! The only frozen drink that they had was a frosé, but I think that they should extend that to daiquiris, frozen margaritas, or piña coladas for summer pool drinks. It gets very, very hot up there and if they're charging a resort fee, they should have resort drinks. Breakfast was pretty good. I got the avocado toast, which was great, but my boyfriend didn't love his eggs. There's a really nice backgammon table in the breakfast lounge and club chairs for people looking to do work. This is definitely not a hotel for families, but I loved my experience on a romantic vacation. It would also be a great choice for business travelers looking for some fun at the bars and club within the hotel. The ACE 123 lines are a couple of minutes from the hotel, and the 456 NWR DF trains are about a 10 minute walk. Surprisingly, we heard very little street noise from our room despite it being a more vibrant area.
