I made the reservations with my credit card and called the hotel to inform them I would not be there and my wife would be check in. They noted her name and said it would not be a problem. On the day of check-in, the hotel would not let my wife check in because she wasn’t on the reservation. Front desk employees very rude and dismissive. There are much better hotels options for $1,200 a night. I’ll never book this hotel again.
The Chatwal is nestled in the heart of the Theater District and has an old world New York charm and sophistication. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and the staff at the Chatwal made it an amazing and memorable weekend. A huge Thank You to Vivanna and Sandra for going above and beyond. You exceeded our expectations and made this an unforgettable and memorable birthday. Concierge had also helped us secure dinner reservations at The Lamb’s Club in the hotel. Everything all came together and it was truly a wonderful experience overall. Our Garden Suite was simply magical – a quiet, relaxing retreat full of greenery amidst this concrete jungle. Our butler and any service requests from shoe shine to additional bath amenities could be seamlessly accessed via the Chatwal configured iPads in the room. Service across the board from house-keeping, our butler and the check-in and check-out process was first class – personalized, respectful and efficient. Gym – the gym was well equipped including a Peloton bike. It is a little small and any more than 2 people would feel cramped. Unfortunately the pool was not open at the time we were there – it would have been great to escape the sweltering NY temperatures. We hope to be back again, this time for my birthday celebration. Thank You again.…
Picked this place for an overnight stay on a weekend. Room was blah - clean but not worth the 1200 after taxes and fees etc etc. No spa and no pool at the time - supposed to open soon though. Very close to craziness of Times Square. Staff was helpful but not what you expect at a top tier hotel. Booked thru Amex fine hotels - no upgrade even though I know nicer rooms were available. In addition room key was reset at 11am even though they were informed I was utilizing 4pm late checkout requiring. Felt passive aggressive. Underwhelming.
We stayed at The Chatwal, New York this past week and it was, as usual, wonderful. The property is beautiful and luxurious. The entire Chatwal team are friendly, gracious, and professional, including the front desk team (Manpreet and Roxy) and the Welcome Ambassadors (including Ali and Peter). Everyone remembers us during our visit and between our visits, welcoming us “home”, which is a wonderful touch. The accommodations are extremely comfortable and very well maintained. We enjoy dining at The Lambs Club at The Chatwal (breakfast, dinner) and cocktails with the professional bar staff at The Lambs Club. We always look forward to our stays at The Chatwal.
Imagine being on the fifth floor of a hotel facing West 44th Stree in the theater district and not hearing any street sounds. That's the Chatwell. A delightful find in every respect. While not for the budget conscious, it is worth every penny. The room was spacious, well appointed and spotless. The bed and pillows particularly comfortable. And the service was perfect; what one should expect from door man to check in to bellman to bartender to breakfast waiter. If you feel you need to choose a hotel in the theater district, you can't go wrong picking the Chatwell.
I was looking for a luxury hotel in NYC close to meetings I was in town for. The Chatwal is a very well located however it really misses the mark in terms of high end luxury hotels. The rooms are tiny, even by NYC standards. I was in room w/ a cute outside terrace. However you could not pass between the bed and the desk chair as the space was so tight. There are some nice touches such as a thorough amenity kit. However the lack of space, of room service, and the outdated furnishings and decor really were surprising to me at this price point. Next time I will choose differently. Definitely not as first class as they advertise and no where near worth the cost.
The hotel stays in a great location, near good stores , and in a walking distance of many others Offers a good restaurant, with delicious food and very attentive staff The bedroom was spacious (1004) and the bathroom was marvelous!!!! I don’t know if all the bedrooms are as spacious
The Chatwal is now our go to hotel when we visit NYC. The staff are always friendly, gracious and will go out of their way to help. Mr. Manpreet Kochar made our most recent visit on July 4th weekend very special with an early check-in to a Junior suite. He is always very gracious during our visits. The Lambs Club is a wonderful restaurant with outstanding food and service. Highly recommend staying at this beautiful Art Deco gem.
This was our first time in New York City and this hotel was perfect! It was beautiful and the service was first class!! The location was perfect for us to walk around and so close to Times Square! Thank you Chatwal for a wonderful experience and we will most definitely be back again!
The Chatwal NYC is an iconic hotel in the City but left much to be desired. The property is dated. As other guests have noted, the carpet is not only worn but severely stained and leaves you with a sense of uncleanliness. The wall paneling is marked throughout showing age and damage. The bathrooms look recently remodeled and are the highlight of the rooms. The Chatwal NYC lacks the luster and polish you would expect of a hotel of its class.
