The Chatwal is an 87 room boutique Hotel adjoined to the Lambs Club Restaurant and Bar. Doormen were plentiful and helpful. My wife, sister and I had the Library Suite. We were given an early entry by the courteous and professional front desk personnel. We were met with fresh flowers and wine in the room. The room easily accommodated all 3 of us, separated by a door that gave privacy to each party. 2 bathrooms beautifully done. One king bed and one Murphy bed. The room was beautiful and the butler service from Sonam was extraordinary. We had 2 great meals at the Lamb's Club (suggest the Risotto and best oysters on the half-shell ever) with the lovely and personable Ava as our waitress. And 2 Bars actually, very nice. The best place we have ever stayed in NYC, and one of the top ten ever. …
I have two separate nights booked for 5/17-18. These nights were booked separately because the original plan was to visit NYC and take in a show before flying to a cruise into St Petersburg the next day. Those plans were cancelled. Since we had Broadway tickets already we decided to stay a second night. Long preface to the issue. I simply want to connect the two reservations before arriving to eliminate confusion. I have tried calling twice. Both times the phone rang for 14 and 15 times before a very hurried woman answered. I asked to be transferred to registration. Upon transfer I was welcomed to the luxury collection and provided a key prompt to speak with a live person. Press one. I did. I was again asked to press one for a live person. I did. Nothing until the automatic disconnect. Never giving up on the first try, I called again. Same woman who put me on hold. When she returned I explained the disconnect. She said something and transferred me again. Same drill. Welcome to the luxury collection. To speak with a live person…. Tried twice again. And again, auto disconnect. So, if you are hoping for a special stay at what is otherwise a architecturally significant beauty, better manage your expectations for customer service.…
NOT NORMAL They are still forcing staff to mask. I don’t like that. It’s abuse. But overall good experience minus that ( let your staff breathe). Luxury abounds here. The gym was small but clean. I thought it would be real strict with Covid rules, but wasn’t bad. They had to unlock the gym to let me in because of rules. Rooms are nice. They are small, but that’s expected in NYC. THE TOILET SEATS ARE HEATED!!! That’s pretty fantastic. Staff was very attentive and offered 5 star service.
I can’t say enough good things about this place! For someone that’s quite particular in hotels, this seems to hit all the marks. First of all, staying in Manhattan can be tough on noise factor since it’s such a great city that rarely sleeps. Chatwal does a great job of drowning it all and is quite the peaceful escape. Don’t worry about the other reviews, you will not hear any noise whatsoever from the streets regardless of floor you’re on. The service is always wonderful and consistent, from the friendly bellmans, room service team, housekeeping and front desk team (Anggela and Isabella thank you) it makes this feel like my home away from home when in NYC. Rooms are updated, comfortable and linens top notch. All other amenities are wonderful if you have time. It’s the little touches that go far, including the little treats they leave for me ;) My only constructive feedback is that the rooms are rather small, I’ve had three different types of rooms and all are quite small even for Ny standards. Haven’t experienced their suites yet, never any upgrades available when I travel. And something minor , but since I’m usually there on business travels a small breakfast pop up would be great. Pastries, fruit, something quick and easy for us on the go. Thank you Chatwal for the great memories each time!…
I booked the Sanctuary Suite with the intention to propose to my girlfriend on the terrace (a very rare suite amenity in NYC). Tashi, Steven, and the entire front office and concierge team did an incredible job. They helped me with logistics for the big night and arranged for the suite to be decorated with rose petals and candles upon our return from dinner that evening. Everything went perfectly and I couldn't be more grateful to them.
This was our first stay at the Chatwal and we are already planning a return trip soon. Every aspect of our stay was excellent. The staff, the space, the servers in the restaurant and bar were all top notch. The hotel itself is so well taken care of and the King Deluxe room was so comfortable we didn’t want to leave. The design of the closures and cabinets are perfect. The Lamb’s Club serves delicious food.
I arrived here early for check in, however I was given access to the hotel and used the very clean small gym for a nice work out. The texted me when room was ready and the bellman automatically had my luggage in my room when I arrived. That’s service. This is a very manageable hotel as I’m used to the Marriott Marquis, but I wanted to try this as our play and restaurant were directly across the street from the hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the room had enough outlets for your electronics. The bathroom is luxurious and had everything you needed. The staff can’t do enough for you. After our play my friend needed a cab and walked out in the cold rain and got us one…from a block away! I’ll definitely be back.
The staff is unbelievable at The Chatwal and a big factor in rating the overall experience. Regardless of the time of day OR which staff member we encountered, we were embraced with a warm and enthusiastic greeting. Many of the staff engaged us in conversation without being obtrusive. This made our stay feel as though we were in a friendly neighborhood building vs a hotel near Times Square. The room (608) was spacious, quiet even as it faced W 44th, well equipped (even though a coffee maker would be appreciated), huge bathroom with an older Toto bidet, and the king bed was so comfortable. The carpet and wall paper is getting a little worn, yet we appreciated the modern furniture that was spotless and comfortable. The location was fantastic for walking to all the places we were going, and near the beginning of the St. Patrick's Day parade. We appreciated the free coffee in the lobby that began at 6am as we are early birds! We also ate breakfast and dinner at The Lamb's Club restaurant in the hotel. The food offered a great variety and was so good, and again the service was impeccable. We had a great stay with a late 1pm checkout. The doorman asked for the information about our car service, and came to get us and our bags as soon as the car arrived. Exceptional! We also enjoyed the 3rd night free special making this stay very affordable.…
Great stay at The Chatwal! Very pleasant stay at the Chatwal, which offers very nice rooms very close to Times Square. Having travelled all over the world, at many luxury hotels, we were impressed by the general very high level cleanliness of the hotel. Friendly staff and nice facilities. Definitely worth a visit!
As a loyal Marriott fan, choosing a hotel in NYC for my birthday trip was a bit of a challenge, as there are so many amazing hotels. I ended up choosing The Chatwal, due to the fact that I really enjoy The Luxury Collection brand. Overall, this was a very nice stay. Would I be back? Maybe. The Chatwal is in a gorgeous Art Deco style. I love how the hotel is an intimate, boutique property. It was so easy to navigate and I really got to know the staff. By the second day, one of the doormen said, "Welcome back! It's good to see you again." The staff were all absolutely lovely. Oddly, we had a welcome card in our room from the butler, but whenever we contacted him, we were told he wasn't on duty. It was very strange and pointless to offer that service. However, the staff were all very quick to take care of any needs we had. The room was stunningly appointed, with elegant furnishings and rich colors. The bed was comfortable, but had very bad staining on the side. There was nothing in the minibar and turndown service was not offered. It wasn't a huge deal, but not offering these things knocks the hotel down from being a true luxury property. We absolutely loved the huge bathroom, with the walk in shower. It felt so luxurious with the Asprey toiletries and warm brown tones in the bathroom. If you are a light sleeper, note that sound between rooms is very apparent. There is also quite a bit of street noise. Currently (as of February 2022), room service is offered until 10pm and the restaurant is open to hotel guests. I never ate in the restaurant, but it looked lovely. There is a very small fitness center that's open 24 hours. You do need proof of vaccination to use it. It's a nice gym with all of the basics, but isn't suitable for anyone needing a lot of equipment for an extensive routine. Also, the spa and pool are currently closed. I would possibly return to the Chatwal, but I would like to try other luxury properties in the city first. Maybe this hotel can be 5-star again when it reinstates some lost services.…
