I stayed at The Chatwal during that holiday season between Thanksgiving and Christmas. My dad booked my room with SPG points and arranged for a late check-out (at 4 PM). Upon returning to my hotel room at around 2 PM on the afternoon of my departure, I was horrified to discover that my key card no longer worked; I was... More

I had a fabulous stay at The Chatwal over the Thanksgiving weekend. The room size is normal for New York standards but they just seemed to make the small space work. I never felt like it was too cramped. I loved the fact that the curtains were remote controlled, the lights could be switched off all at once and that... More

Small rooms. Expensive upgrades. Uncomfortable beds. Terrible breakfast. Great staff though Still, don't think that I will stay here again. Location is super busy, lots of tourists everywhere. Getting around is so difficult as times square is so close.

I'm glad I finally made my trip and visit this boutique hotel two weeks ago. Staffs in Chatwal are quite nice and responsible. They always nicely greet to me when I get in/out. Room design is quite impressive, actually beyond my expectation. I have never thought this hotel hiding in Times Square area has such a modern and Homy design...The... More

This hotel is great! It's small, but not the rooms, it's in the perfect location, and we can see Times Square from our rooftop terrace. Every evening we get back to the room, our beds have been turned down and we have some wine, desserts, etc to help unwind. They have a car at your disposal to take you anywhere... More

Stayed at the Chatwal on business in mid-November in room 1006 which was an upgraded room and slightly larger than normal. The Chatwal is a Starwood property but feels like a boutique hotel. After the Gramercy Park Hotel it is one of my favorite places to stay in Manhattan. In terms of other Starwood properties nearby it is much better... More

We visited this restaurant for a birthday celebration. I'd booked upstairs in the bar area. Service was indifferent and slow. I've been to this bar several times with clients and I have to say it really was an off night. I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come. This used to be a New York hem.

Stayed for 2 nights over weekend. Close to Time Square, dingy street, very small rooms, extremely overpriced. On check-in the lady on the desk was excellent. Best I ever experienced and absolutely drop-dead gorgeous Japanese woman. Planning was good with room amentities and furniture but should have checked with architect to know square footage. No room to turn around in... More

Stayed at this Art Deco hotel in New York for 5 nights to celebrate friend’s birthday. We are all light sleepers so despite a lot of modern hotels in New York we chose to stay here. Lovely. elegant and refined hotel with excellent bespoke service. I was in NYC on business and spent three nights there on my Starwood Preferred Points (wouldn't have been within my financial reach otherwise!). If you have the chance to stay here, I highly recommend it. You'll feel like royalty :-).

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
