We spent 4 nights there and had an overall good experience after finding the place (no sign), and learning how to use all those keys and locks. Especially liked the birds and greenery outside our window in the middle of the city. Understand, though, that this is not a traditional 'B&B' in that you will not be having breakfast in...

My daughter and I spent a week in New York in August, 2014 and really loved Allie's. Her place is immaculate and she was very accommodating Allie went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. The fridge was reasonably stocked and we liked the neighborhood. It felt safe, but be aware that later at night, subway stops are...

Allie's Inn is a great bargain for some travelers to NYC. I agree with the reviewer who suggested it is for the independent traveler. It is a studio apartment, approximately half a block from a subway station, will firm beds and a good breakfast. I loved the fresh fruit and had forgotten how good NYC challah can be. While I...

I have to be honest: when I first saw the neighborhood this hotel was in (we arrived at night), I didn’t feel very comfortable, not very safe even. This feeling proved to be absolutely unnecessary as we didn’t even see something that came close to a threatening situation. However, even if it turned out to be a safe place, it’s...

*The first sentence of the review references the neighborhood, the guest did not feel comfortable arriving at night. He did state there was not any threatening situations. He should have did a little research before making the reservation, On my website alliesinn.com there is a Transportation Tab with a Google map application, he could have scrolled around the map to...

When we first got here it really felt like we were home. We ended up getting the suite while we stayed here. The kitchen was already stocked with breakfast foods that we found to be very convenient. The suite was well furnished and felt very comfortable. Allies Inn was right across the street from the subway and was easily accessible....

I lived in NYC for 7 years so I know how to get around it pretty well. I don't really need directions on how to get around it. If you are a seasoned NYC traveler and would like some peace and quiet when you lay your head down to rest, this is the place. You can forget about midtown Manhattan...

After searching around for hotels to stay in while for a trip to Harlem, NYC, I came across Allie's Inn Bed and Breakfast. Normally I stay in a regular hotel but I wanted to try something different. I ended up booking the garden view room and it surpassed my expectations. Everything about the room was carefully planned, from the selection...

My daughter and I stayed here just recently, from 6/11/14-6/13/14. This place was very comfortable and quiet and although we never met the innkeeper in person, she was very nice and helpful over the phone with walking us through how to get to our room. We were very pleased with that. She also left a handwritten note to welcome us...

Neighborhood Profile
Harlem
As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has played a vital role in the history of New York City. Today, the neighborhood is as vibrant as ever as new businesses and developments go up next to local institutions. The heart of the neighborhood is bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful blocks in the city, filled with handsome brownstones, soul food restaurants, corner shops, and scenic parks.
