This place is located in Harlem and although the street where the guesthouse is located is calm and nice, the nearest metro station area is a bit dodgy. Didn't feel so relaxed there. Room was nice and Bert, the host was a very helpful and nice person.

A lovely and interesting place to stay with a great host, Burt, who was kind and very helpful. We stayed at 127th street which is very close to everything you need including subway stations and buses to get downtown. Burt is a lovely person who went out of his way to help us with an urgent laundry issue we had... More

We didn't stay at the 127th but at the 132th apartment. Anyway, the apartment was excellent for a family of 4 persons, spacious and calm, well located in Harlem, easily accessible by metro and bus. Bert was absolutely charming, competent and helpfull. A very good recomandation ;-)

A group of friends have just returned from the Chic & Budget Hotel. The stay was absolutely wonderful. The apartment was perfect, just what we needed. Perfect location, close to Manhattan, to Washington Heights, The Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. Accesible to buses and Train Station. Many shops around and delicious soul food restaurants. Bert was very helpful and provided us... More

This was a great place to stay at. You can take a Subway to anywhere you want or take a bus. It is close to Manhattan an Bert was very helpful with explaining everything. You are free to go were you want.

Bert is an excellent host and this is a great place to stay. There are 2 different apartments; we had booked on 127th but ended up staying at 132nd. The blocks are close and it was a short and convenient walk to the blue A subway station. We stayed in the top floor apartment, which was nice, spaciious and clean.... More

Had a brilliant time in New York. Bert, the host, made me feel welcome as I arrived. The place is nice and the neighborhood exciting. Harlem had a bad rep back in the 90s. This is no longer the case and the area offers loads of opportunities. Bert will go through it all when you arrived. They even give you... More

Staying in Harlem

Neighborhood Profile
Harlem
As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has played a vital role in the history of New York City. Today, the neighborhood is as vibrant as ever as new businesses and developments go up next to local institutions. The heart of the neighborhood is bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful blocks in the city, filled with handsome brownstones, soul food restaurants, corner shops, and scenic parks.
