This home is located on a tranquil stretch of 139, ideally placed between all the major North/South roads. Restaurants and major sites all walkable. Quick subways to all major lines. Clean big rooms with A/C. Sadly, Rick has sold the home. He remains friendly and helpful but the house is 50% in boxes and new owners are visiting. Do the...

My husband a I just completed a 5 night stay here with Rick in his amazing home. We stayed in the room on the fourth floor - fantastic street views and such a large, cozy room too. Please believe what others have said on trip advisor - this area is safe, safe safe. We walked the local streets all hours...

My wife and I have just returned from 9 wonderful weeks holiday in America. We stayed here at this Harlem B&B from Tues 2nd Sept to Mon 8th Sept. Rick was waiting for us outside the B&B on our arrival as we dragged out ginormous suitcases from the nearby Subway. We had a wonderful time here - Rick is so...

For my first trip to NY I wanted somewhere in Manhatten but not a major hotel in the centre of town. Rick is a great host; witty, and knowledgable on all things New York. The house is lovely and quiet, rooms large, well appointed & comfortable. Do not be put off by the Harlem location - one it's safe -...

Harlem Renaissance House bed and breakfast has two great things going for it – the house and the host. (Its location in Harlem is pretty good too.) All three rooms are large, well furnished, clean, quiet and comfortable. My pick though is Suite 2 (top floor, facing the street). Not only is it marginally bigger, it has a wider, more...

Only stayed two nights but what a lovely home in a pretty and safe neighbourhood. The host Rick is very knowledgeable so if you need to know anything ask. We had the room on the top floor so lots of stairs but my 81 yr old mother managed ok. Bedroom was lovely with period features and beautiful soft carpet. Would...

Had a great time in NY at Rick's place in Harlem. I travelled with my girlfriend in mid August. As had been said here many times before what makes this place stand out is Rick's easy going nature and knowledge of NYC. Any question is enthusiastically answered. Harlem is safe. No there is not a bunch of fashionistas walking around...

Rick's B&B is an oasis in busy NYC. The rooms are airy, comfy, immaculate. Rick pays close attention to detail. He made lovely fruit to-go containers when we had to leave early. He knows a lot about the neighborhood and NYC, and it was a pleasure to chat while coming and going. Thank you so much!

Neighborhood Profile
Harlem
As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has played a vital role in the history of New York City. Today, the neighborhood is as vibrant as ever as new businesses and developments go up next to local institutions. The heart of the neighborhood is bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful blocks in the city, filled with handsome brownstones, soul food restaurants, corner shops, and scenic parks. For a taste of a real New York neighborhood, it’s hard to top a visit to Harlem.
