Detailed Reviews
Stayed at the 33 Hotel at the NYC Seaport for 4 nights in October 2024. The hotel is in a great location at the Downtown historic South Street seaport area. The beds are super comfortable and the air conditioning system in the room is one of the best we have ever encountered. The Tin Building with numerous restaurants is one block away and there are numerous interesting restaurants nearby. The NYC ferry landing and heliport are just a short walk away. The room itself had a great bathroom with a large shower and double sinks. Bottled water is given out each day to the rooms and if you want more the front desk will give them to you. We had room 511 (deluxe Peck Slip King) that had a window overlooking the street below. There are many different. types of rooms here so I don't know about the others. We have rebooked rooms here two more times since the hotel is so convenient to so many interesting things in the financial district and just a short walk to the World Trade Center Building and the Oculus. The front desk is super helpful with everything.

I am providing an updated review based on my recent experience at the 33 Seaport Hotel. During my previous stay, I encountered an issue regarding the room rates, initially promised as part of the "33 Seaport Insiders" program, offering a 15% discount for guests. Unfortunately, the rates we were charged did not align with the promised value, leading to a discrepancy in our billing.
My attempts to resolve this matter were unsuccessful, prompting me to share a negative review. However, I must acknowledge the positive turn of events that followed. Shortly after my online review was published, I received a response from the General Manager, Mr. DeSoiza. He demonstrated a proactive approach and promptly addressed the issue.
Upon thoroughly reviewing the incident and the supporting documentation, Mr. DeSoiza took the initiative to refund me the difference I had requested. I want to express my appreciation for his swift response and for taking the necessary steps to rectify the situation.
This experience highlights the hotel's willingness to engage with guest feedback and their commitment to resolving issues. While the initial discrepancy was disappointing, I am pleased that the management's intervention resulted in a positive outcome.
I value establishments that take guest concerns seriously and are dedicated to ensuring a positive experience. It's important to recognize such efforts; in this case, the hotel's response deserves acknowledgment. It's reassuring that my online comments prompted a proactive resolution, showcasing the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction.
Thank you, Mr. DeSoiza and the 33 Seaport Hotel, for addressing the issue and your dedication to ensuring a positive guest experience.
Warm regards, John A

If you’re considering booking a room with a view of Peck Slip or the Waterfront, it might not be worth it. The upgrade is only a few dollars more, but there’s not much difference unless you go all out for one of the top-tier suites that truly offer the views shown in their promotional materials. I upgraded to a Waterfront room via Expedia, but the view was underwhelming—mostly short buildings and brick walls.
The staff is friendly and actively promotes the hotel’s two restaurants and bars before check-in. One of the restaurant managers, a lady, was particularly helpful. I ordered a drink around 4 PM, but since the bartender wasn’t there yet, she made one for me. It was so good I wanted another. When the bartender arrived, he made it differently, commenting that the manager didn’t know how to make cocktails. Ironically, I preferred her version. At checkout, the bartender realized he had made the wrong drink, but no compensation was offered.
Later that evening, around 8:30 PM, I took my son to their other restaurant, assuming we’d easily get a table since we were hotel guests. Unfortunately, they had a large party, so seating wasn’t available. I asked about a to-go order, but the bar manager was rude and seemed uninterested in serving a mom with a child. Thankfully, an Asian waiter stepped in to help, explaining that the kitchen was very busy and our order would take over an hour.

I enjoyed the stay as it was in a great location. The hotel is close to the seaport, which has various activities in and of itself (i.e., the market, the Carne Marie restaurant, skating, walking, street vendors, etc.). The hotel is within walking distance from the NYC Ferry and the A train, in addition to other trains. The area is also busy so it is easy to find a cab that will come to you within five (5) minutes or less.
As for the hotel, the view was great! My partner and I got accommodated on the seventh (7) floor, which is the last floor. We were able to get a view of the Brooklyn skyline near dumbo.
The room was spacious with a lot of storage space if you are like me and like to unpack while traveling. The room was also very clean. However, the bathroom sink was clogged in my room upon arrival and the water pressure in the shower was not to my liking. The water pressure was very low.
The hotel staff are friendly and respond rapidly. There is the option of dining in the hotel dining area or getting room service. I ordered room service for breakfast twice and received my food, coffee, and tea within 30 minutes of ordering. The food was fresh and the tea's natural.
For food, I tried the steak, mushroom risotto, salmon Benedict, rib Benedict, and the 3 eggs bacon and muffin. I enjoyed their breakfast options more than their dinner options. As their breakfast was tasty while their dinner was either lacking in flavor or too salty. Also, some of their dinner options, such as the steak, did not come with any sides. It was just a steak on a plate and nothing else. I do not particularly enjoy eating solely meat as a meal. That's why breakfast was my preference!
The hotel also has a fitness center. The fitness center is small but it has everything an athletic/health-conscious person would need for an impactful workout, such as a smith machine, treadmills, weights, and yoga mats. The fitness center also had complimentary towels and Lysol wipes to help keep the area and equipment sanitary.
I would stay here again while in the downtown NYC area without a doubt!

I apologize for the time it has taken me to respond to your review, Jessica. I've recently joined 33 Seaport as General Manager and it took me a little time to get "management" access to the TripAdvisor reviews. I'm pleased to know that you enjoyed our location, found our rooms to be spacious and found our staff to be friendly. I'm sorry to hear that you had issues with the plumbing in the room and with our food service. Next week we're relaunching our Food & Beverage program and we've stepped up our preventive maintenance program for guestroom mechanicals. So, we'll look forward to your return. gary.desoiza@33seaportnyc.com

Stayed here two nights in Room 705, on the top floor with a wraparound balcony and windows on all sides. It has an amazing view of Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Bridge. It is a suite. One room has a pullout couch (OK comfort) with a full bathroom and the second room has a king size bed and bathroom with a shower and a tub next to it., all enclosed. Very nice to have such a spacious comfortable room in NYC!
There is a minibar and stocked fridge in the room. But note there is no icemaker on any floor; you have to request ice from room service (?!). Not much room in the fridge to put your own drinks in it.
The hotel feels like a boutique luxury place. The neighborhood is quiet but near the Seaport, Tin Building and the Financial District.
Cons:
- $49 per day destination fee. For what? This is on top of City Tax 5.88%, State Tax 8.88%, Occupancy Tax $3.50, Suite Occupancy Tax (only on Suite rooms) 8.88%.
- Building rated D for energy efficiency. Which didn’t surprise me given the poor fitting windows in our room and the fact that the room temperature was 76 even though we had set the thermostat to 68.
There is an attached restaurant where we had breakfast two mornings. Each room gets a $60 credit per night for breakfast (2 people $30 each per night), The yogurt granola parfait, pastry tin and raspberry brioche French toast were scrumptious. Note that wait times can be long as the restaurant also provides room service for the hotel so don’t come here if you are in a rush.
Summary: we enjoyed our stay but not sure it was worth the price of $900 per night plus taxes plus “destination fee.”

Thanks for the great review, Kili! We're very pleased that you enjoyed yourself and enjoyed the neighborhood. We're a landmark building under new management and we're looking into options to address the buildings efficiency rating. It's great that you used your breakfast credits. It's nice to relax in a full-service restaurant for vs. the grab and go type of breakfasts that so many of us have become accustomed to. We hope you stay with us again sometime in the future.

We had a two king bed room which was a lovely size for two adults and two children. It would be nice to have a family option on the higher floors with the balconies.
Good walking distance to the seaport and financial district, 10 mins to the local subway.
The staff were amazing, door staff particularly. The bar charges are a bit silly, $9 plus tax and tip for a bottle of corona when you could walk to the next block and get it for half that, no wonder the bar was always empty.
The TVs in the rooms could do with showing local NY channels rather than just national cable channels, the air-con could do with being serviced as was quite loud, and whilst the showers are a nice size, the water pressure is a bit weak.
Otherwise a lovely stay.

Ever since 2022 when my son , daughter- in- law and new grandson moved within 2 blocks of 33 Seaport, we have enjoyed staying at the hotel 4 separate ocassions. During each of those visits our entire family got to know Peter and his team to the point that "33 Seaport" has become our ," home away from home!!" So much so that when I decided to propose to my girlfriend, my first call was to Peter to help me devise a plan that would surprise her on our most recent trip to NYC.
He suggested the suite with a picturesque nighttime view, plus he arranged rose petals leading down the hallway, throughout the room culminating into the shape of a heart on the bed made the perfect setting to ask her to marry me. Peter and the staff's attention to detail helped to create a cherished lifelong memory for us both.
We truly appreciate the warm atmosphere, convenient location, delicious restaurant and the exceptional service provided by 33 Seaport. We eagerly anticipate our next visit along with new memories we'll create in this wonderful establishment. If you are looking for not just a place to stay, but a place to feel like you belong, this is it.

A very nice hotel but with one unexpected and unpleasant surprise at checkout: a “Destination Fee.” I had booked through a travel agent one room at $315 a night. When I checked out, my bill included an additional nightly charge of $35 plus about another $5 in taxes on that amount. I objected on the grounds that no destination fee had been stated in the confirmation of my reservation. The desk clerk said , without further explanation, that addition of the fee was the hotel policy. The duty manager was no more helpful, providing me with an email address and phone number to contact accounting if wished to. After an unreturned email and phone calls to a full mailbox, I called the front desk back and was transferred to a manger who said that they would make an exception and eliminate the fee and taxes from my bill. They have done that.

Dear JSH22, I apologize for the miscommunication you received regarding the Destination Fee. This is a very common charge in NYC which supports our amenities (Hi-Speed Internet Service, 24-hour Fitness Center, unlimited bottle/purified water, pour over coffee/tea programming, etc.) If you contact me directly, I can discuss this further gary.desoiza@33hotel.com. My apologies for any miscommunication of this charge. It is listed on all of our booking sites.

We had a fantastic stay here. As soon as we arrived, every single member of staff go above and beyond to ensure you have an amazing experience. They could not do enough for us, even small touches like leaving water bottles in the room every day and having umbrellas for you to take if it is raining. The location is beautiful and great for exploring the city. We couldn't have rated it higher! Thank you 33 Seaport for making our trip so fantastic.

Honestly, one of the best hotel stays I've ever experienced. The balcony rooms are SPEC-FLIPPING-TACULAR!!! The service is impeccable. This small boutique hotel has a staff of familiar faces each day. My first night there, the room I was in had a toilet that ran constantly. They immediately brought maintenance to the room and when it couldn't be readily fixed, they quickly moved me to an equally spectacular room without me even asking. I absolutely intend to stay here again.
