The room is nice with a little kitchen that is very helpful. Some of the staffs are friendly, except one that I had a bad experience which showed me a very poor education and was very nasty when informed me something. They are having construction in the hotel and it started at 8:25am, and I asked to cancel my reservation of last night, they said that wouldn’t have refund if I cancel. The elevator is very slow, the corridor is usually dirty. You can find towels on the way even when they don’t have cleaner working on that floor. The doors are mostly like that in the photo.

I hate to write poor reviews, but this one is needed. Very bad experience with this hotel. We were informed on checkin that breakfast will Not be offered, and no concessions were made. The website clearly advertises contact free continental breakfast due to COVID19. But no food is offered on site at all. The cleanliness of both rooms was bad - something very gross on the bed skirt, broken and missing toilet paper holder, kitchen faucet sprayed water all over, dirty finger prints on the ceiling, blinds were broke and falling, no wash cloth’s in either room. This was presented to the staff and they apologized but did not offer a solution. We left a day early and got a different hotel. Not our typical Staybridge Suites experience...

Hi windemuller, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We want you to experience comfort in every sense and what transpired isn't what we promised. I'm sorry to hear about the untidy condition of the room and the bathroom. I recognized your sentiments about the lack of breakfast offered during your stay and the quality of service taken in addressing these issues let you down. This isn't the experience you've come to expect from us. I brought this up to our local management's attention. Rest assured that all you've highlighted will be worked on to ensure guests' complete satisfaction. I also sent you a private message discussing this further. We value the trust you've given us. We hope you'll come to visit us again and we'll do our best to make your next stay better than the last! Safe travels, Jomar M. Case Manager IHGService

Despite notices in the hotel about wearing masks inside, the staff clearly thought it didn't apply to them. The website said - still does - free hot breakfast. When we checked in, the guy (mask below his nose) said they didn't have breakfast because of covid, just energy bars and coffee or tea. Fair enough, but they should have told us beforehand. The room was seriously in need of redecorating. The towels and bedlinens seemed cleaned but the floor had not been swept nor had the carpet been vacuumed (somebody had dropped a couple of bobby pins on the carpet). It was supposed to provide a complete kitchen, but the saucepan theey provided was no such thing - it was the top of a steamer. We phoned down for a pan with a base. HAlf an hour later we phoned down again and pointed out it was getting late and we wanted to eat. They provided wine glasses but no corkscrew; another phone call. We started preparing our meal in the dingy kitchen area - another call, there is no light bulb in the light over the kitchen. It was equally dingy the next morning - the curtains didn't open. The "decorative curtains were faded in places as was the bed skirt. When we left, after 4 nights, the receptionist didn't ask if our stay had been OK but we told her anyway that we wanted to make a complaint. After from bringing up the pan and the corkscrew, housekeeping never went near. We had to empty our trash ourselves. We paid $5 a day for housekeeping. "Oh, that's included in the resort fee" she said. Resort? Anyway, the website says you pay $5 a day for housekeeping. "You didn't pay an extra $5" she said "it's included". I pointed out that if it is included that means it should happen. My husband got out his phone to show her the hotel website which clearly says $5 per day covers the housekeeping. She changed tack. "We're only cleaning rooms every 4 or 5 days because of Covid". Oh, right, when it's really important that things are kept clean you stop cleaning? You can't even empty the trash because of Covid? As my husband brought up the website, she grudgingly said she would refund the $20 dollars we paid for non-existent housekeeping. There was never, at any time, a hint of an apology.

Checking in was easy. She explained all the rules up front. But due to the Covid, no breakfast was being served, but they did have breakfast bars every morning at the front desk. SO surrounding the area are small mom and pop grocery stores, but they’re very limited. And the Food Emporium is a few blocks away, but it’s pricey. It’s all worth it to have your own kitchen. And now the room: it’s not bougie, or swanky, like I’m used to in other NY hotels, but it is clean and comfortable. I LOVED having my own kitchenette, complete with pots, pans, dish ware, dish washer, hot cooking surface and full size fridge. In most NY hotels, I’m used to taking stuff out of the mini bar and using that as a fridge. Also in NY, I’m used to having those deli’s open 24/7, but I think the Covid put a stop the that, not to mention not every restaurant is open, or open the same hours, so having food in your room is extremely convenient. They’re doing work on the hotel, so you see dust from the workers everywhere, and the hallways are still kinda shabby, but the rooms are nice, and that’s what matters. Also because of the Covid, housekeeping will attend to your room every 5 nights. Which is fine by me. The area is usually ideal, but the “new NY” is starting to look like the “old NY”, like from the early 80s!! There are sketchy people hanging out close to the area, just to give a heads up. The hotel was also very quiet, until the weekend hit and guests were yelling things to each other in the hall. But that’s not the hotel’s fault. Still the location, comfort of the hotel, and convenience of a kitchenette will definitely have me back!!

We've stayed this past weekend. August 1 and 2 2020 for 2 nights. Yes the location was okay but .. I am originally from NY and my husband is born and grew up in NYC. Stayed at many hotels in NYC. My impression was ....The area was bit clumsy .Nothing wrong if you're an adult but I would not recommended to family with small children . but it is up to you .NYC has been changed since COVD-19 .. It's still safe though . The room was nice, clean and big enough for 2 people. Kitchen was nice . However they didn't tell us that they won'd do bed making unless you've stay 5 days ., I didn't see anything that when my husband booked this hotel Oh well It;s not a big deal but receptionist should have explained to us and breakfast was available but where and how? Again I've stayed many many hotel in NYC but this was the fist time that no one had explained to us .. We might have missed the information .Next time we'll ask I guess? We've stayed the room 1802 .. Guess there was no room number at the door but we've figured right. As soon as we've got off from the elevator on 18th floor .. YIKES the smell was so bad! Smells like skunk or weed.. The carpet was dirty .. It's an old hotel Guess who know how dirty that floor the carpet! had lots of stains. but then once we've gotta into our room was clean and nice. Very cozy . Another thing was! THE MASK! The sign says Mask requires . but Guess what? the receptionist she had mask down till her chin so I could see her nose and mouth so as the porter he had NO MASK ON! I don't mean to be critical but .. It should have covered nose and mouth. Friendly? yes but not too professional. I wish them best of luck .

Hello Annabelle9910, Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate you taking the time to share your review of your recent visit. I am happy to see you found our rooms clean, spacious, and kitchen to be beautiful. I am also glad to know that you slept well. I am sorry to read your disappointment about your overall experience due to the issues encountered with the staff either not wearing masks or not wearing them correctly and the smell and cleanliness along the hallway. I recognize this prevented you from having a comfortable stay. Rest assured that I have shared your comments with the hotel management, and I am confident that they will take the necessary steps to ensure we avoid this from happening again. I hope to see you soon! Safe travels, Dianne L. Case Manager IHGService
