First off I have no idea where all these good reviews are coming from. Mind boggling to me cause my experience was the worst and we were there for not even 10 minutes! My family and I arrived Friday night on 4/9/21 and as soon as I walked in the lady at the front desk already looked miserable and was not welcoming at all. Second, I asked her where the parking was and I hard free parking.. she laughed and said, “free parking”... right there I was already skeptical about this hotel. When I booked I chose the free parking option and she didn’t even look until she realized I did have it and then explained the parking.. which was 3 blocks away! Ok so we started unloading to get stuff up into the room. Third thing I noticed was the DIRTY FILTHY ELEVATOR OMG I WAS OFFICIALY SCARED TO GET TO MY ROOM! Fourth as soon as we get off the elevator we hear loud music and a whole bunch of ppl and of course it was right across our room! We walked into our room and boom it hits me the overwhelming smell of marijuana and cigarettes! GROSSSSS! 5th.. oh you thought it was over, it gets worse! We walked into the bathroom and there was still was DIRTY TOWELS ON THE FLOOR AND IN THE SHOWER! The room had broken closet door the whole damn room was ghettooooo! We immediately grabbed our belongings, called downstairs, and said we were leaving! I was so nauseated when we left there until we found a clean hotel! Oh and all the drug addicts and homeless ppl sleeping outside the hotel that I noticed when we were leaving too so scary!!! This is very unprofessional and the hotel should not be operating under these conditions especially during COVID. I had my two kids with me and that was my 7 years olds first experience ever going to NY. I asked for a refund through Expedia and the hotel is releasing it thankfully! Thank god we had the money to actually leave and book another, feel bad for ppl that can’t do that! Wish I would have took pictures to post but we left so quickly!…
The review below has been submitted to IHG; but they have decided not to post it on the IHG website. I'm posting this here instead, so future guests of Staybridge Times Square NYC are informed -- Staybridge Times Square NYC has a great location, rooms with a space-optimized layout, and courteous staff. Unfortunately, the good things end there; and are overshadowed by a few crucial opportunity areas. Guests' demeanor seemed to have deteriorated big time. The hallway on the 12th floor reeked of an appalling odor that we suspect as that of marijuana. One guest displayed aggression toward us inside the hotel elevator; but we were told by front desk that there's no camera in the elevator, so there's no way for them to check the guest's identity. Another guest was inconsiderate with all the loud conversations she had even past midnight. The room wasn't properly maintained or cleaned. The pillowcases smelled a little stale. There were liquid stain marks on the mirror. The bathtub flush was clogged. In our room on the 12th floor, we could hear the ongoing renovation during office hours; thus it was noisy while we were working from the hotel room. We were informed by the front desk about the renovation during check-in; but please include this important information on the website, so potential guests are aware. Due to the pandemic, breakfast wasn't served; and was replaced with a piece of granola bar and provision for coffee. No bottled water was provided, even after we requested for it during check-in.…
The front desk person is just rude, maybe owing to our race and accent. We had a valid booking from Hotels.com but the rude front desk person won’t let us stay because we had 3 adults in 1 supposedly 340 sq. ft. Suite Room. Our family of five had to find another place at 9pm. Adding injury to the insult, the receptionist said he couldn’t canel the booking either and we ended up charged $242 for the room they didn’t let us stay in and could not cancel the booking either.
First impression: WEED. The entire foyer and lobby reek of pot. It permeates everything. Staff claims it’s coming I from outside, but no one outside is smoking pot. There is NO FREE BREAKFAST, which was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel. Staff offered a granola bar. NO DISCOUNT or refund given because breakfast is complimentary, per the staff, so it isn’t included in the price (?). Ridiculous. Rooms appear clean, but last night, on our second night here, my daughter opened the microwave and found an old burrito, left from a prior visitor! Disgusting. And now the jackhammers have begun, directly overhead. It sounds like I live in the sewer directly beneath where road crews are hammering concrete. It persists for 6 hours a day! If you have any intention of getting work done or attending a meeting or conference call, fat chance. Again, front desk staff offered no consolation or discount for this. There also is no little sundries store to buy water, etc. the staff claim they are waiting for a shipment, but it’s barricaded in with empty shelves. It’s clear that it hasn’t been open for a long time. Also, the restaurant is closed. The street in front is very scary. We witnessed two drug deals and a man threatening to kill another man if he didn’t get his money- directly in front of the hotel door. There is a large police presence on the street, so that is reassuring, I guess. We also saw two swat team officers in bulletproof vests walking up and down in front. Don’t be fooled by the price/value. You are better off in a safer, cleaner hotel that doesn’t misrepresent its offerings.…
We had a great stay at this hotel. It was clean, and the kitchenette was so convenient to have. I would definitely recommend for family travel to the city. The location is central to all, and the staff went above and beyond to help us when our flight was greatly delayed by allowing us to stay in their comfortable lobby with all the free coffee and tea we wanted.. We will be back.
