Hotel 31, East 31st Street, Manhattan. A goodish 3 star but be prepared for small rooms. The hotel is located midway between Midtown and Gramercy Park. A good location for nearby Indian and ethnic food. The owner/manager quite helpful and welcoming ( by New York standards). It's clean and tidy, recommend having a room with it's own bathroom. The building... More

We stayed here for 2 nights when we arrived in the US and 2 nights before leaving and had rooms at the front and the side. The hotel is a little dated, but that is actually its charm with lots of original woodwork. The bathrooms were also a little dated, but spotlessly clean. The room at the front was fairly... More

It was my first visit at NY. The location of the hotel was perfect. Price was fair according to place. I stayed for 5 nights. Walking distance to 33rd east metro station. The room was small. If you keep 2 big size suitcase, it would be difficult for walk. Anyway it was not my Complain. My main Complain was for... More

Nice people at reception , cool art deco decor but.... stale cigarette smoke permeated room. Asked to change room but none other available, In addition the elevator was broken and we had to walk up the stairs.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week and a half trip to New York. Like others have said, the hotel is small and dated, and has a very slow elevator – coming from Europe, these things were not an issue for us. The location is fantastic, as it's very close to public transportation and inexpensive (by NY standards) restaurants... More

If you're looking for a nice hotel in NYC that is cheap and close to everything, you may stay here! We just walked from our hotel up to 50th St.! It's close to Madison Square Garden, Times Square, etc. The room is small but we don't care because we're just here to sleep.

My room here was small but very very clean. It was the hottest day of the year but the A/C unit worked great. I especially loved the remote control. It was a little noisy but totally worth that to feel comfortable in my room! The shared bathroom was never an issue. It was clean and I could use it whenever... More

This small and charming boutique and budget hotel is located in Midtown NYC. It's very near to The Empire Street Building and walking distance to almost everywhere touristy. Our room is small and the interior is quite dated but it's clean and we sleep well. Ours is with an adjacent bathroom as requested. The staff are all very accommodating, you... More

I made a fast trip to NYC this week and selected a hotel quite different from those I usually stay in. Let me tell you, it was a great stay. The location, East 31st, near Park, was filled with cafes, ethnic restaurants, great walking, Starbucks. I had a really comfortable room in an old building. There appeared to be 7... More

Stayed a total of four nights. The location is really good, room is clean and rather quaint. Bit of a step back in time, but well appointed and plenty of room. Shared bathroom was clean and there are a couple on the floor so I didn't have to wait. I can't stand shower curtains, but that's a personal thing. Bit... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
