Hotel Hayden is an average hotel in a great location. It seems like the staff are not interested in the guests so much and the housekeeping department doesn't do a good job cleaning the rooms especially the floors. Overall the level of cleanliness was acceptable however when you would walk on the floor your feet would get black from dust and dirt. There were often hairs left on the sink and toilet after they came in to clean. Even if these were probably our own hairs it just didn't seem acceptable. The rooms are spacious and generally have everything you need inside.

The hotel was nice for the price. Room was nice size. I can say the hotel was better then most of the reviews I read before I stayed. I can say if you’re not into noise you might want to choose another location. Noise doesn’t bother me especially when guest are enjoying there weekend. The noise is mainly due to the rooftop bar that they have. But it’s New York City you should expect noise. During the Friday night stay I met a few nice people coming in and out of hotel from the bar. I didn’t have the chance to visit bar as it was a private event going on. Hopefully next time I can check it out. The location is perfect if you are visiting NYC or just want to getaway from your NYC place for the night. It is located in the flower district the street is covered with flower shops. The bed wasn’t as comfortable as I would like it was just ok. The shower in bathroom can be updated as well when I showered the water went everywhere on floor as the glass did not close it was only on half of the shower. Also if your looking for a view not sure if they have a nice view of the city due to location, My view was bad. Overall I would recommend for a one night stay. I would stay again.

Location – flew into Newark and it was a pretty easy train journey to Penn Station then a short walk to Hotel Hayden, so all in all pretty simple to get there. We went at Christmas time so wanted to see all the Christmassy sights; Macy’s, Rockefeller tree, Saks Fifth etc. It was in a really great location for all these things, 5 mins from Macys, 10 to times square and lots to nice restaurants as well.

Room – Room was much nicer than we were expecting! Huge bed, quite a big room and big bathroom. No views but didn’t expect any. Bed linen was nice and rooms were cleaned regularly.

Facilities – Didn’t use the gym, went to the rooftop bar which we found to be really disappointing. No atmosphere enclosed and cold.

When we arrived we expected to pay hotel tax as we were made aware of this beforehand so some money was taken on arrival, then the day we were due to leave a bill for the same amount of money + £5 was posted through our door. We were confused so went downstairs to ask what was going on, it was only a small confusion and easily cleared up however we found the lady on the desk to be very rude and make us feel quite uncomfortable asking a reasonable question. All other staff members were great.

We would recommend this hotel as the location was great and the room had everything we could have needed, however that one member of staff could be a bit more friendly.

This is a tired hotel that appears to be poorly maintained. The room was in need of a good cleaning and even the paint job and drywall repairs were shoddy. We had a room with two double beds and were given one washcloth and one bar of soap. Even the most basic hotels (that don’t charge close to the $495 they charged) give you at least two washcloths and one soap for the sink and one for the shower. The staff wasn’t particularly friendly or even dressed appropriately for a job in hospitality. The free “continental breakfast” consisted of a scant amount of options and, unbelievably, the only option for coffee was two of the single-cup coffee makers that you would find in your room. So,there was a line of people waiting a long time as the two tiny machines made individual cups of coffee. That’s a new one and the worst coffee service I have yet to see! Also, this “breakfast” was served in a room that was dirty, appeared to be a storage room of some type, and although there were enough tables, there were only a few chairs. We left and got coffee and breakfast at McDonalds, which was a significant improvement over what this over-priced hotel offered. To add insult to injury, upon checkout we were told we owed another $35 “facility fee” which is ridiculous, because truly, from top (rooftop lounge) to bottom (lobby) this place is a wreck. Find another place to stay.

Ran an alcohol wipe over a glass countertop in the room, and it became very brown. There were many hairs in the room that were not ours, and the floor did not feel clean. The young woman working at the front desk never wore a face covering. At the same time, I do recommend the rooftop restaurant, Mykonos Blue. It has good Greek food, good service, good music by a DJ, and a lovely view.

We arrived at this hotel with mixed thoughts due to the previous reviews on how awful it was. Well, this hotel is not awful, it is a very nice. We had a room on the 6th floor, it was very quiet form the inside, but noisy on the outside due it facing the road (nothing hotel could do about that). Good sized, clean room, decent sized bathroom. Plenty of towels and apart from one day we got clean towels and room cleaned each day. The day it didnt we advised reception and they were most apologetic, it was too late to be cleaned, but fresh towels and coffee were sent up within 5 minutes. Reception staff wre all very helpful, nothing too much trouble for them. We got a free drink each at the roof top bar and complimentary continental breakfast each day. The location is in a good place, flower shops all around, so lovely scenery when walking out. Bit of a walk to Times Square, but as we have been to NY on 2 previous occasion we didnt want to stay there.

On reading the reviews of this hotel, I nearly cancelled my stay as they were so poor, however, we decided to go and see for ourselves. I am so glad we did!
The hotel was perfectly clean and comfortable throughout our entire stay. We got a good welcome on entering the hotel, the reception staff and doormen were so polite and helpful. We were greeted every time we entered and before we left the hotel for the day.
The room was spacious and clean. Beds were made and towels replaced daily. The beds were very comfortable. The only negative I could give was that the shower temperature could be quite temperamental. The first morning, I couldn't cool it down, the rest of the mornings, it could be very cold but it didn't ruin my day or stay.
There were minimal spots of paint peeling in places in the room but this did not impact on my stay at all! One or two of the rooms had painting equipment left outside the rooms so they must be renovating. The rooms were spotlessly clean.
The continental breakfast was fine too. Lots of fresh pastries, yogurt, fruit and fresh coffee. Quick and a free option if you are looking to save a few dollars during your stay.
Location of the hotel was excellent, within walking distance of loads of sightseeing spots. Walking down the street during the day was lovely as it is in the florist district so the pavements were covered with fresh flowers and plants. It was in close proximity to subway stations which made getting around the city a breeze.
A $75 security deposit was taken on checking in and we were informed that a resort fee of $34 per room per night would be charged on check out. This is common amongst USA hotels so it didn't bother us as we were expecting it. On check out, they took the price of the security fee off the total of the resort fee.
If I go back to New York, I wouldn't hesitate to stay in Hotel Hayden again.

Stayed in this hotel for a business trip to NYC, and given some of the reviews I was sceptical about staying here, but it was either this hotel, or a hotel in the Bronx as no other hotels were within the company-imposed cost limits. I have to be honest and say that I was really surprised how good this hotel is!

The staff that I have interacted with have ALL been really friendly and polite, and will always say hi when you pass reception on your way out of, or into, the hotel.

The room I was in was clean, with clean bedsheets, and the bathroom was spotless. The room has a/c, which is a must in the current NYC summer, but the a/c is a small unit that is somewhat lacking in power...however, it does keep the room cool, even when the outside temp hit around 39 degrees (around 101 F).

The hotel in general is a little tired and showing it's age, but again, it was clean.

The location is great, with the subway/metro/underground being at the end of the street. Times Square is about 1 mile away (~1.5km), and the Empire State Building is about a 15 minute walk.

Overall, a good hotel, with great staff, in a great location. I'd use this hotel again for sure

We decided on NYC for the Spring Break holiday. Since we are a family of 4, We wanted a location close to NYC's subway system so as not to feel overwhelmed by the other tourists in midtown. The ideal choice was the Hotel Hayden based on a recommendation. The guestrooms were quite large for an NYC hotel and the subway was on the west side of their city street. Unfortunately, their rooftop and restaurant were closed for renovations; yet, we were near many other options. However, we appreciated their complimentary continental breakfast. My wife informed me that she received amazing service from Carlos in housekeeping. Anytime we requested additional items, he always greeted us with a smile and gracious warm hospitality. For me, great customer service is something that will always drive me back as a repeat customer. We will be back for sure!!

If you are on a budget, and in town for a few days, then this is a great option. Location is great, with subways close by and walk-able to the Penn Station.

This is NOT a 4-star hotel, contrary to what some travel sites listed it as. 3-stars at best. Room and bathroom was clean, and the bed was comfortable enough. The water in the toilet was continuously running, which was VERY annoying. I only stayed for a couple nights so was not a problem for me, but if you are staying for longer or if you are a light sleeper, then that can be a problem.

Only one AC vent was working, which was facing the window side of the room. The provided iron in the room was not working so asked for a replacement iron which the front desk immediately sent. The new iron's power plug kept on retracting, so had to plug it in and hold it until i warmed up and then unplugged it to iron the clothes.

Pros:
1) Great location.
2) Couple minutes from the subway in either direction.
3) About 7/8 minute walk to the Penn Station.

Cons:
1) Water kept running in the bathroom toilet.
2) Only one AC vent was working.

Overall:
If you enjoy the finer things in life, then this is definitely not for you. Otherwise, this is a great budget stay.

I am not sure. The rooms aren't huge, so if they do have a roll away, it would be small.
