Tucked in the heart of Chelsea, the new Hotel Hayden feeds on the energy of two of New York City’s most enduring and iconic commercial neighborhoods. At the intersection of the Fashion District and the Flower District, it’s a modern boutique gem just steps from world-famous local landmarks (including the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden). Formerly the Hotel Indigo Chelsea, the hotel welcomes its guests by treating them to stylish 122 guest rooms and suites, full-service restaurant, a round-the-clock Fitness Studio and Business Center, and a rooftop bar with city views both old (vintage water towers) and new (Freedom Tower). At Hotel Hayden, we’re all about anticipating your needs. Whether it’s fast, reliable WiFi, a workout that fits your schedule (even if it’s before dawn) or a welcome treat for your four-legged travel companion, we won’t stop until we know we’ve provided the service and amenities that are essential to your New York City stay.

Stayed in this hotel for a business trip to NYC, and given some of the reviews I was sceptical about staying here, but it was either this hotel, or a hotel in the Bronx as no other hotels were within the company-imposed cost limits. I have to be honest and say that I was really surprised how good this hotel is! The staff that I have interacted with have ALL been really friendly and polite, and will always say hi when you pass reception on your way out of, or into, the hotel. The room I was in was clean, with clean bedsheets, and the bathroom was spotless. The room has a/c, which is a must in the current NYC summer, but the a/c is a small unit that is somewhat lacking in power...however, it does keep the room cool, even when the outside temp hit around 39 degrees (around 101 F). The hotel in general is a little tired and showing it's age, but again, it was clean. The location is great, with the subway/metro/underground being at the end of the street. Times Square is about 1 mile away (~1.5km), and the Empire State Building is about a 15 minute walk. Overall, a good hotel, with great staff, in a great location. I'd use this hotel again for sure

I think the website photos were taken in 2018 based on the NY Times one guy is reading. I don't think anything has been updated since then, and I'm sure Covid hit them hard. The room was fine. Clean, comfortable, cleaned daily, no problem. Front desk staff was not the friendliest - the rooftop bar was shabby and out of beer when we tried to go for a drink...I ordered a Grey Goose martini and I guarantee you it was watered down. Not cool at all. Also, the vinyl roof had two very large water "bubbles" from rain, and it looked like they would burst any moment. Breakfast was ok - decent selection and the coffee machines from the rooms. Shabby restaurant - again, not updated since before Covid. EVERY NIGHT when we came back there was deafening music coming out of the restaurant. People wandering around everywhere, no security - this was even on a Monday night! Oh, and on the Saturday when there was deafening music coming down the elevator shaft from the rooftop...someone pulled the fire alarm at 2 am. So - room good, price decent, "amenities" not quite so good.

My husband and I have stayed at many hotels in New York with little to no issue. We are not picky or bougie and just expect a hotel to meet the basic needs and comfort of its guests. The Hotel Hayden is never to be stayed at again for failing to meet even these basics and more. It is located in a popular and central area of Manhattan. That is it's only positive feature. The following is our list of our experiences as they affected our stay and the overall safety (standards) of our stay. NO WORKING PHONES IN THE HOTEL. Phones in rooms, hallways do not work. We asked the desk about this and they said simply, Yes our phones don't work! Anyone staying in this hotel, with medical needs, in distress, in emergencies like power outages or fires are PUT IN DANGER without direct contact with hotel staff and/or other emergencies services. Take an elevator or the stairs to access help from staff. This is complete unbelievable and puts this hotel in violation of multiple laws and in provision of the basic customer service(s). BOUGHT OUR OWN PILLOW at a local department store. Having a severe allergy to feather pillows, I usually get a synthetic/foam pillow from even the most basic of hotel, even hostel. After 2 hours of waiting, going to down to the lobby, because we couldn't call from our room, they provided a stack of bath towels. No joke. This was all they had in the entire hotel. ZERO QUALITY IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. The staff, which were present sometimes, lacked personality, presence and concern for anything, including simple hellos, room requests, spending most of their time on their own personal phones. While accessing the only ice machine in this 100+ room hotel, in the basement, I was told by the only positive staff member (security) that most attention is put on the parties they book and the club nights they offer to the public. The party happening that night had underage guests who were drunk and like other nights that followed, were allowed to roam freely. Security and staff were always thin on response and action. Honestly, this hotel, should it still not have active phone lines, is without question the most unsafe hotel we have ever stayed at. We seriously thought of contacting local fire services to inform them of the safety violations for this hotel. We are glad to have left and would never under any circumstance tell anyone to stay here.

We arrived at this hotel with mixed thoughts due to the previous reviews on how awful it was. Well, this hotel is not awful, it is a very nice. We had a room on the 6th floor, it was very quiet form the inside, but noisy on the outside due it facing the road (nothing hotel could do about that). Good sized, clean room, decent sized bathroom. Plenty of towels and apart from one day we got clean towels and room cleaned each day. The day it didnt we advised reception and they were most apologetic, it was too late to be cleaned, but fresh towels and coffee were sent up within 5 minutes. Reception staff wre all very helpful, nothing too much trouble for them. We got a free drink each at the roof top bar and complimentary continental breakfast each day. The location is in a good place, flower shops all around, so lovely scenery when walking out. Bit of a walk to Times Square, but as we have been to NY on 2 previous occasion we didnt want to stay there.

Great hotel, our room (2 doubles) is a good size for NYC! Check in was friendly and prompt, and we were given two free cocktail vouchers for the rooftop bar.. Breakfast (coffee and pastries I believe) is also complimentary.. the hotel is nice and clean and in a great location, Penn Station and Midtown are right on our doorstep.. would definitely stay here again..

Avoid staying here customer service was terrible. We arrived 20/4 to be told on arrival we had been booked into another hotel as they had problems with the rooms. The reception guy offered no apologies no assurance new hotel was nice no offer to organise taxi or give directions etc. thankfully the sister hotel hotel Hendricks was fantastic and Mike and lee on reception were great and assured us our change of hotel wouldn’t cost us anymore and they made us feel very welcome. I stayed at hotel Hayden years ago and it was good. Really surprised at how rundown it has got (reception/entrance area) and the casual uncaring welcome by the reception guy. Avoid! Book into the sister hotel so much nicer

I got bed bugs in this hotel, I sent an email directly to the hotel expressing my concern, they were supposed to get back to me something that they never did. TERRIBLE experience and terrible customer service.

I have just finished staying at the Hayden for 4 nights and I am so torn as to the experience. The location is great, for NYC the rooms are a good side - although I think we were allocated a disabled equipped room - the bathroom certainly was! We were on the 4th floor and the problems started when I emailed the hotel ahead of time to say that I was arriving the day after my companion and could you link the bookings so it's all done and no faffing when I arrive on a very very long flight from the middle east. This was not done, the staff were dismissive, disinterested and my friend tells me this was the case the previous evening when she checked-in also. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Chelsea about 5-6 blocks from Penn Station and further up to Midtown. The room was impossible to keep at the temperature and every time we had a shower, the place flooded, the toilet didn't flush properly and the hotel maids had no idea when we were checking out and had no idea when to clean the room and/or change the towels. Could do so much better in a super-competitive market. Also, tell the staff to smile on occasion, we didn't hassle them during our stay - but with all the faults, I guess they get a lot of hassle - hence the sulking looks!

We arrived and were allocated a room in the 7th floor. Unfortunately, it was next to the lift and very noisy so we asked to be moved. We were then allocated a room on the 6th floor which, at first sight, seemed fine, more later… You’re given a free drinks token for the rooftop bar so went up to have a look and have a drink. It is very tired looking up there and there was an overpowering smell of cleaning products. We didn’t go back up there for our entire stay, it just wasn’t appealing. Went back to our room to unpack and get ready to go out. Unpacking was impossible as there were only 3 hangers (for 2 people for 4 nights), the toilet was making a very loud hissing noise and the safe was broken. We rang down to let the staff know and were told it would be fixed the next day. The next morning, I reminded the staff at reception of the issues and was told they would be fixed while we were out. On return, 9 hours later, the room was exactly as we left it! We rang down to reception and was told that the issues wouldn’t be resolved so he would move us to another room. The third room was better but still only 3 hangers so I lived out of my case for the remaining stay. Every time we went through reception there was someone complaining about something. I felt so sorry for the staff as the rooms just aren’t good enough and they couldn’t make them better. Who wants to go to work and be moaned at everyday? Whoever owns this hotel is letting the guests and the staff down! It needs some serious investment to get the rooms to an acceptable standard.

This place is an armpit. No customer service, wouldn't even give us a wake-up call. Horrible! Air vents were dirty. The advertised soaps in their photos are false. The robes? Also in the photos but not in the room. Sterile and stone-faced emplotees. No comfort anywhere. The bar was half stocked and forget the so-called free drink, it doesn't cover hard alcohol. . Continental breakfast was OK. Maids, if they arrived, were slamming things in the hallways and never stoppeds talking. No amenities. Hats-off to their photographer making lemonaide from a lemon. We wouldn't return to this cesspool even if somebody picked up our tab. The owners of this dump must throw nickles aound like man-hole covers. These people should be sued for mal-practice!
