I've just checked in at the New Yorker and my first impressions are terrible. Ok the room is small, even by NY standards, but the worst is the awful dirty-looking carpet and the cheap bed linen, which doesn't fully cover the mattress.... This is the first time I'm misled by tripadvisor reviews, so wanted to set the record straight.

Dear Valued Guest, We sincerely apologize for the substandard condition of your room. At The New Yorker Hotel, we take great pride in our high standards of cleanliness. Unfortunately, you experienced a time when we obviously did not meet those standards. Your comments were forward to our management team to further follow up with their respective areas. The hotel is in an amazing location. Msg is across the road. Tick tock diner which is apart of the hotel is decent, well priced with good food and okay service. Turn down service is good. The tourist information desk is very good. The people on there were very helpful and had a good knowledge of the city. They offer...

For a no-frills, comfortable room you can't beat the New Yorker Hotel. Although, the rooms are small, they have everything one needs: comfortable beds, clean comfortable bathrooms, nice toiletries, and is very convenient with subway stops steps away as well as Penn Station around the corner.

1st time at The New Yorker and we'd definitely go back. Staff at reception were excellent. Mohammed was most helpful and gave us a lovely room with a view which we weren't expecting. The rooms are small but we weren't travelling to New York to sit in a hotel room. They were spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Visited the...

I have always wanted to go to New York and can safely say that this hotel made it a special stay, with special thanks to Angel. I had read reviews about small dated rooms and felt a bit uneasy about what to expect, however we were given a lovely room with an amazing view of the Empire State building. I...

I stayed in a few hotels in New York during my recent trip - with the New Yorker being the cheapest. However - the price did not correlate in poor service, rooms and cleanliness. It felt incredible staying in a restored 1930's hotel. A real step back in time. Cosy rooms house comfortable beds manifesting in great sleep quality. Standing...

Hotel is in a great location. Close to several metro stops. Nice lobby which is staffed with security, so that no one can get access to elevators unless they have a key! Quick check in and check out. Great restaurants close by.

I stay in NYC for business every other week. The New Yorker is convenient, reasonable, and easy to commute to. Angel and Mohammad at the front desk are always friendly and assist with a smile. I typically stay in a view room, use the weight room.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
