Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The New Yorker, A Wyndham Hotel, steeped in historic charm and Art Deco flair, sits in a prime location lauded by guests for its convenience to attractions and dining. Travelers appreciate the diligent housekeeping but often call out the small, dated rooms in need of a refresh. The staff receives mixed reviews, with commendations for their friendliness alongside mentions of slow service and additional charges. While the hotel’s atmosphere and amenities have their admirers, the extra fees and noise levels are points of contention for those seeking value and tranquility.

We stayed at the New Yorker again this week, and from the reservation process to check out, they exceeded all expectations. But I'd have to say that the front desk check in experience was where the New Yorker really stepped up and delivered. "Samira" was simply wonderful. There are not enough words to express how much she made a difference in our stay, right from the start. What a way to be welcomed back to NYC! Honestly, she was perhaps the most qualified, professional, courteous, amiable and helpful person I've ever encountered when visiting NYC. Samira went out of her way to make us feel welcome, offered helpful suggestions when asked, instinctively offered a late check out option, and really made the entire check in a fantastic and memorable experience. Such a beautiful and genuine person- she truly is a gem! I will also say that the rest of the on site staff were all quite kind, and greeted us warmly as we came and went throughout our stay. And I can't forget to mention 'Shine', who patiently guided me through the reservation process a few weeks back. Great sense of humor and very helpful! Rooms: Both rooms were on the 38th floor, with one overlooking 8th Street, and the other at the back of the building, with views of the river and countless skyscrapers. Both came with a spacious balcony, which offered a breathtaking view of that famous NYC skyline, Madison Square Garden, The Empire State building and more. The rooms were clean, well lit and with a perfect layout featuring two baths, a separate bedroom, dining table for 6, small fridge, open seating area, and a large patio. Parking We used Spot Hero to book a parking spot right around the corner on 33rd. (next to the Olivia). This enabled us to get in and out of New York in record time, and probably saved a nice chunk of change in the process. I'd highly recommend doing this whenever you're looking for a place to park in the city. Other: If you are staying in Mid-Town, it's going to be more expensive than elsewhere. But despite the costs (and yes, those pesky 'resort fees' or whatever they're calling them do apply here), you will get your money's worth at the New Yorker. The location can't be beat, and the Staff are just fantastic. Downside: Not much to complain about here. I will say that their 'price match' process leaves much to be desired, and when trying to get some clarity from their customer care person online, I felt like I was being given the run around. Next time, I don't think I'll bother.

Location is as great as it gets, clean and secure hotel. The emploies are very helpfull and the check in and check out takes less than a minute. Subway stations all around the hotel as well as restaurants. Time square is 5 minutes walking distance away or one subway station.

Really enjoyed the trip and the hotel was nice and clean. Came here with my family to visit the city and it was in a good location that was close to many things and had a subway stop right outside. I would recommend as our stay was nice and the staff were very kind.

Beautiful restoration of an iconic NYC hotel. Close to the Javitz convention center. Comfortable and affordable. Fantastic city views. Friendly staff. I'll go back on my next trip. Self park is available (I didn't use it). Security made sure only guests could access the elevator. One of the best hotel stays in a long time.

Beautiful art deco hotel. I can’t imagine what It was like back in the day. But it’s tired. It needs restoration not another coat of pain. Individual staff was amazing, doorman, housekeeping and front desk are truly the backbone of the hotel

Even for someone not obsessed with Nikola Tesla, this was an amazing choice for our NYC stay. The location was within walking distance from so many fun places, and the subway was VERY convenient from here. We felt like we could be just about anywhere in 20 minutes! There are several Tesla-related sites nearby, and I appreciated the historical exhibit in the lower lobby as well as the plaques and photo collage at Tesla's room, honoring his presence there and his accomplishments. We felt very comfortable during our stay, and the room was a good mix of cozy and spacious. The views from our windows on the upper floors were spectacular! The restaurants on-site (we visited the diner and the Italian place) were not only convenient, but also incredibly tasty. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful at every step of the way. We will ABSOLUTELY be back!

Room was on the smaller side, but not any smaller than most NY hotel rooms, but we enjoyed everything about the hotel. It is an older building, but the lobby is beautiful and the rooms are decorated to give it a more modern feel. The staff is very friendly and helpful, there is a layer of security at the elevators (you have to show your room card key to get past them), and best of all it's kitty corner to Penn Station, so getting around NYC is incredibly easy.

The hotel is OK and very well located, but they have a scam. They charge an extra cost called "facility fee" US$ 29,00 per night and don't make ir clear when you book it in Booking.com. I strongly advice to choose another hotel that doesn't do that. Search for hotel that don't charge the infamous "facility fee" or at least be aware that the room will cost much more than it show on Booking.com

Dear Brazilian78; Thank you for your feedback. Unlike other hotels, all our charges are listed on our website prior to booking a room, at time of confirming a room and price as well as on your email confirmation. Booking.com also has the charges for your room listed prior to booking and on the email you received from them. We regret you had to voice your displeasure on social media without providing the hotel the ability to show you how the charges are broken down on your confirmation email.

The staff here rules, location is within throwing distance of MSG and Penn Station, and the attached restaurants are fantastic. My 2 double bed room had 2 bathrooms and closets. Ideal if you are driving in, as it's very easily accessible from the Lincoln Tunnel, parking is pretty simple as well.

I love this hotel, it has style and character, great staff, a great coffee shop, and it feels like New York, rather than any hotel in any city. Coming from the UK, it feels like a foreign destination and an event. The authentic decor does not detract from great service, and a really comfortable room. This was our third visit and we would come back again if visiting NY
