I booked several rooms here for a group of work colleagues traveling through New York City, with a one night stay. I would have just gone home (downtown NYC), but our plan was to get on the road early the next morning, so I just stayed at The Gregory with my group. A boutique hotel, there aren't many accommodations but all was clean and the service was great. The only suggestion that I would make is that they add their restaurant menu to each room, as I called down to the restaurant to put in an order based on what the hostess told me the restaurant had. When I went down to p/u the scallops that I had ordered, they were prepared with bacon (something that I would have requested removed had I seen this on a menu), so I had to re-order the meal. When I checked into my room there was a huge fly buzzing around so I also had to request a room change. Which they accommodated without a question. Great service. Would recommend if you are looking for an affordable boutique hotel in the heart of NYC.

While the location was a positive, the rest, not so good. This is a very aged dingy hotel stuck in the 60’s and not in a good way. Rooms are very small, the carpets have probably not been really cleaned in years , useless window unit air conditioners , dish based tv and internet that was out for two days. Seems like a hotel for transients . Needs a big infusion of capital to upgrade it. The staff was very friendly except for housekeeper that argued about providing paper products as she had already done the room I would not recommend staying here unless they vastly improve it which is not likely to happen in the short term.

I chanced upon The Gregory when two of my favorite staples - The St Regis and the Peninsula - were booked. The smaller, boutique hotel doesn’t have the flair or the haute cuisine or decor of the two, but it makes up for it with great service and decent rooms. The little restaurant downstairs is great for business meetings or a nightcap and the hotel is easily accessible to the Empire State Bldg and other city attractions and the subway.

We were 4 adults. Location very good; porter excellent - friendly; reception lady was reluctant to give us a twin room for our adult son & daughter as requested in our booking; one of the 2 lifts never worked for the 5 days we stayed there; the only other lift was slow & erratic and frequently used by the cleaning staff so it wasn't available for guests; the stairs were a health hazard - narrow marble steps which were worn & the banister on one side was semi-submerged into the wall; night 2 was terrible: the air conditioner unit was sited through the window and as it rained most of the night, we had rain dripping constantly onto the unit making a constant noise - we had to ask to change rooms; food was served in the bar area which wasn't very inviting; bedrooms were clean & tidied daily - no issues
