I stayed at The James for three nights and felt at home and at peace. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful, and the ambiance was something special. Great location and overall outstanding service!
Love this boutique hotel in NoMad, great location if you are taking the train in or headed downtown to Village or Soho. Nice quiet neighborhood but still lots of great eating and drinking options too. Nearby is Madison Square Park and Union Square. Rooms are spacious (for NYC) especially if you get a Queen Queen or even a King, rooms/bathrooms renovated pretty recently. Nice experience overall with front desk, housekeeping, valets, etc. Highly recommended!
I stayed at the James for few nights over Christmas, I love the neighborhood, the room was pretty large but the bathroom was ridiculously small, you could not have 2 peoples at the same time in the bathroom. Lobby was sad, dark and small and need refreshing. Service was ok but really not really friendly. It is suppose to be a 4 stars or 4.5 stars depending on the website but it is more like a 3.5 stars at best. Price was reasonable but not sure I will stay there again.
This small hotel is a jewel. The room was extremely comfortable. Bedding was luxurious. We were on the fourth floor for two nights. The morning was very quiet with little if any street noise. The staff was professional and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel.
Our family of 5 stayed in the queen suite and it was perfect. Unbelievably spacious for a NYC hotel room! The extra seating area (in addition to pull-out) with table made a huge difference. The staff was great, the lobby ambience was one of my favorite parts, I could've hung out there all day.. modern yet old-fashioned. Since it was my milestone birthday, I was greeted upon check-in to our room with a bottle of champagne! However the maid cleared it away the next morning even though there was hardly any drank yet (late arrival.. on ice I would drink it all weekend!). That was a major bummer. Overall a win-win for this family of 5!The free continental breakfast was part of a sit-down in the attached restaurant. As a family, we would have greatly preferred more of a buffet type to eat and go. Instead we had to wait for service and then of course tip. The breakfast was delicious just not the appropriate setting for our tween kids (although we did enjoy a fabulous dinner there the night before!). Because of that we only used the breakfast coupons once. As above, super annoyed the maid took/cleared my opened yet almost full bottle of champagne.…
Generally speaking the hotel is providing the service and quality expected. A nice lobby with a 5 o’clock complementary wine and pastry. The room is fair (some carpet stains and in the bathroom some wallpaper was peeled of) . The most questionable experience was when we left the hotel. We asked for a taxi from the hotel to the train station (which was not far away - 16 USD by UBER later) The answer of the bellboy was that for such a distance he can’t call a cab. WHAT???? We where 3 persons with 4 luggages. What this guy had in mind? Should I take a walk??? I ordered an UBER which worked out but the attitude of this guy was questionable./-
Stayed at the James for a birthday celebration during the magical period of New Year's Eve. Best New York experience ever. Super located, central but still quiet, cozy-modern-perfectly cleaned-and-spacy bedroom, great italian restaurant and facilities (fitness, rooftop...), free coffee available every morning and above all : amazing classy and personalized service before, during and after the stay, special attention from the staff for our birthday, good tips to visit and enjoy NYC, big up to Haylee for the great support and professionalism. Will definitely be back to the James, what else?
My first stay at The James was a winner! Cozy, comfortable room on a quiet floor. What’s not to like? Guadalupe and the front desk staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Plenty of amenities made my three nights an absolute delight. Can’t wait to come back!
My family stays here every year over the holidays. It’s convenient, impeccably clean, modern and has great restaurants and amenities. Although there are many hotels in NYC that offer this, the staff at The James sets this hotel apart. I’d particularly like to call out Jose Martinez, who went above and beyond this trip. Jose is a delight and provides a small luxury hotel approach in a city that may feel to some as cold and impersonal. If you are looking for luxury NYC accommodation that doesn’t break the bank, this is the place.
Stayed at the James for a birthday celebration this weekend and it was perfect. The staff went above and beyond to make it extra special sending chocolate covered strawberries with a personalized note! The rooms were super clean and we had everything we needed. Would highly recommend you check out the Seville in the evening if you enjoy live music we had a blast!
