Phenomenal location and quite friendly staff. Happily stored our luggage after checking out, while we tramped around the city. Rooms are ridiculously small though, and the heater is louder than a freight train, but for the price/location it's a great place to stay.

Yes the rooms are small but if your familiar with NYC hotels you would know this is common. for all those complaining about room size, check on sites like booking.com which usually tell you the room size and if you think its not going to be big enough pick a bigger room! I was ell aware of the small rooms... More

This is the worst hotel I've stayed in. Staff rude, room tiny, shower overflowing and bed was none existent mealy a tube mattress on the floor. The corridors were creepy too. Waisted my money and spoilt my holiday staying here. Extremely disappointed

Were do I start? Perhaps at the hair that I found all over the bathroom floor, on the towels and in the shower when I arrived in my room? Perhaps that my room was not cleaned after the first night I'd been there to the excuse that the cleaner was too busy? Or maybe the best place to start is... More

The location is perfection. You can enjoy so much and easily get around. Chelsea has it all and is centrally located to zip down or up in the City. The Highline is a 5 minute walk. Chelsea Market is a 7 minute walk. Galleries on 14th ten minutes. On and on. The vibe is very european and the lobby is... More

As others have said, the rooms are small, but adequate. There was room for a desk and bed, which was all I really needed. The location was perfect for me. The neighborhood was nice. The front desk staff were very helpful.

Location is great but rooms are tiny, the beds are way too soft there was absolutely no daylight to be had anywhere but in the lobby or roof deck. We asked for higher level rooms but were put on the third floor. The hallway was completely dark as were the rooms. Felt like a vampire in perpetual twilight.

The location is great if you need to be in that part of NYC. Staff were pleasant and the rooms were clean and updated but, they are tiny. If you travelling alone, like I was, it is fine. I have stayed at other NYC hotels with the same size rooms so I wasn't that surprised. It's an easy walk to... More

The GEM is a gem. Small room but totally adequate for 2, clean bathroom, super shower, comfortable bed, helpful friendly staff, great location, great price for NYC. Not fancy at all but perfect place to stay while in NYC.

First - the hotel is a retro mod boutique feel with rather typical small rooms but modern and clean...so if you plan on living in a room this may not be it - But get out and enjoy a great roof top with views of mid town - Empire State Bldg. and the feel of lower Chelsea. Blocks from the... More
