Had to adjust our reservation last minute due to a missed flight and staff was very forgiving and accommodating. Great Chelsea location , average room, but realistically you want the location over room amenities when you spend most of your waking hours exploring Manhattan. Citi bike docking station right outside the front door ($12. a day to bike everywhere...much better... More

Outstanding hotel! The service is beyond words. They are the most accommodating, warm and helpful hotel staff I have ever had the pleasure of hosting me. They make every stay of mine feel special. Since I travel for business so frequently, they have become my family away from home. Truly all remarkable people at the Gem Chelsea! The hotel is... More

The hotel is really hip and the staff is awesome. I felt safe walking around the surrounding areas by myself even though it was my first trip to NYC. The rooms are smaller but that's to be expected for the area. They were really clean and well laid out though.

Overall, the hotel was just ok. If you are staying by yourself, this hotel would be an ok fit. 2 people in the room is 1 too many. The bed size is maybe a full at best, with very little space to move. I understand this is NYC and space is something highly valued, but this was un-like anything I... More

We were only in the city for one night, but loved this stylish hotel. The staff was exceptional and friendly. The room was very comfortable. There are great restaurants nearby. There's a great view from the rooftop of the hotel, too!

We really loved this hotel! It is an amazing spot in the middle of the city and u can walk around to everywhere. If in need of a metro that is also close by. Hotel has a very nice lobby and a rooftop! Rooms are small, but they are clean and nice. Bed is great! We also really liked the... More

Nice staff with good tips about NYC. But the beds need to be updated. Nice roof top with view over the city. Nice walking distance to many attractions (we like to walk!!!) and close to the metro. Good resto. Around

We had a quick overnight stay, and chose this neighborhood hotel. This is a nice change from the major chain hotels in the city. Wonderful, clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, convenient walking distance to our destination. I'd stay here again!

The location of this hotel is great! A block from the subway which takes you to Times Square or Downtown, and walking distance to Chelsea Market, the Highline and lots of other fun stops. The hotel was fine, and about what we expected. The room is tiny, but I knew that going in. We were only staying 2 nights, and... More

The hallway to get to the room was very narrow. The maid's cart was in the hall, and I had to turn the carryon luggage sideways to get past it. The room itself was clean, but tiny. It was about the size of my master ensuite. Enough room for a double bed and not much else. Then the problems started.... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
