Hotel is in a great neighbourhood and easy for transport. Modern rooms with great views. The penthouse terrace is a fabulous place to start the day with breakfast. Friendy staff to helps with anything from a cab to an umbrella.

I am really very picky when it comes to hotels and i can spend hours browsing and reading reviews and looking at pics before decide where to stay. I am also a lousy sleeper, neurotic with cleaning and demanding with service. The Standard in East Village is, by comparison, a great choice and i was fully happy with my decision....

The hotel room has visual appeal and a comfortable bed. However, there are some basic improvements that should be made: 1) Provide bedside lighting. Apparently, this hotel does not believe people read in bed. 2) Provide an option for pillows smaller than 4' long behemoths. Applause goes to the decorator who chose the colors and finishes, the doormen (while dressed...

Fab hotel ruined by an awful retro Viennese meets French railway station entrance ... When upstairs is a cool clean interior space that perfectly matches the building. Apart from that ( which is hard to ignore ) great staff and super comfortable beds and speedy wifi! Bring back the old reception !!!!

I have pretty much given up on staying at Standard properties. They seem more geared towards locals looking to party at the nightclub than travelers in need of a night's sleep. My fiance and I stayed at the Standard East VIllage at his insistence and it was terrific! The staff was lovely and helpful. The room and view were gorgeous....

This is a good choice if you want to stay in Lower East Side and have a room with two queen beds. The Bowery does not have rooms with two beds and Crosby Street (in Soho, but close) also does not have this option. Plus, the rooms with the two queen beds have two walls of solid windows with incredible...

Enjoyed four night stay at this quality property. The entire staff were very professional and the Penthouse view was incredible! We had an upper floor, northwest facing room with great views of ESB and the Chrysler building! Rooms were small but well appointed. Looking forward to future stays!

After 2 very lackluster stays at their sister property on downtown L.A., my fiancé and I were a little worried about staying at another Standard property for a NYC business trip. But I had had great experiences at the Standard High Line and at this hotel when it was the Cooper Square several years ago. I sent an email to...

The East Village is a cool spot in busy New York and Cooper Square is just a block or two from Soho and Little Italy and Bleecker that will take you through the Village and up to Meatpacking and the high line. The hotels entrance is in a old brick building and tiny and very different from The Meatpacking Standard....

What a shame! We just stayed at what was The Cooper Square Hotel in NYC recently bought by The Standard and renovated to well, I guess, their Standard, which unfortunately is not a very high one. The Cooper Square hotel really understood the groovy architectural building they were in and built their design in harmony. A beautiful lobby that was...

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located off Cooper Square in one of New York's most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure-very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan. There's a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level, Michelin-starred chef John Fraser's widely acclaimed Narcissa, and the bustling, street-side Café Standard, which hums from morning until late night. ... more   less
