Travelers' Choice
Located off Cooper Square in one of New York’s most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure—very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan. There’s a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level, innovative cuisine and natural wine at Narcissa, the bustling, all-day street-side Café Standard with an indoor mushroom farm and retail bread program, and NO BAR, a highly inclusive new wave gay bar with late night parties and club-like programming.

The Standard is East Village has become my NY home away from home. I now consider myself a regular. Why? The location is ideal, fully embedded in the community, the hotel is easily accessible by all public transportation and is anchored in a safe, friendly neighborhood. The rooms are clean and comfortable and feature floor to ceiling windows that offer great views. Mainly though it's the staff. Natacia, Rodney, Kimberly, Barrington, Lisa---everyone is great. Analis checked me in this past trip immediately put me in a good mood given her professionalism and warmth. Everyone is cool---the restaurant is delicious, the wait staff and bartenders all super-chill and friendly. No complaints! thank you SEV!

I stayed at the Standard East Village for a girls weekend to celebrate my bachelorette. Hotel staff was friendly, thoughtful and accommodating and the rooms offered a great view. The restaurant / bar downstairs provided the perfect meeting spot throughout the weekend and the cocktails were delicious.

So to be clear it’s not “bad” but it’s certainly average. Especially for the price. I won’t name competitors but you can easily get some luxury experiences for similar or lower price than The Standard. I think my expectation was set to this level of other New York experiences over $400/night and what I got was clean and efficient but probably more like a Holiday Inn with a very nice lobby up front. Come check out the bar or cafe but sleep somewhere else.

Love this hotel! I’m here monthly for company meetings. The rooms are clean, with comfortable beds, great bathrooms, and super centrally located. The entire staff is so nice, friendly and accommodating (the manager Natacia is always patient and accommodating and Lisa at the front desk is super sweet). The restaurant is casual and easy for meals and the rooftop space has been fantastic for our team meetings/events. The gym access to Crunch across the street is great to get a full workout as well. Highly recommend for business or pleasure travel to NYC!
