I booked a one night stay for my fiancé's 30th birthday since he'd been mentioning how he wanted a peaceful night's sleep without the kiddies. So we left them with the grandparents and upon arriving we were greeted by Jermaul who was so friendly and helpful. He showed us up to our room (20thfl) and we were completely amazed at... More

I love staying at the Standard East Village – it feels like being part of the fabric of the East Village. The entrance is small and efficient, flanked by the café on one side and the garden area on the other. It is just a wonderful place to come back to after a busy day in the city, to grab... More

We booked The Standard in East Village after staying in the Millennium Hilton the first two nights of our trip. The Standard was a wonderful experience. We were greeted and checked in by Michaela. She was very friendly and convinced us to upgrade to a corner King room with a better view (worth it). Will was also very friendly and... More

First the good: - The staff is an absolute delight. Every one of them was friendly and helpful from the desk to housemen to room attendants to hostesses and servers. - The room was bright and cheerful and the view grand. - The bath was well appointed with (hallelujah!!) decent bath tissue and facial tissue (admittedly a major thing with... I have stayed at he best hotels in NYC Carlyle, Surrey, Cassa but this was the friendliest hotel yet. From the desk to the bellmen to the waiters, I could not have received better attention. Paige and Kelsey at the desk made me feel so welcome along with Jacob and Andrew the bellman I also enjoyed the service provided by... More

Having never been to New York I was apprehensive. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The hotel room was compact but not in the least pokey. I walked in to see full length windows and the street but NO noise. Great garden you can relax in. Contrary to everything I expected from this work related trip it... More

Dont expect very high luxury, or big rooms but doorman and reception team were one of the best i ever saw. Cafe at lobby at the road side and at garden excellent service. Rooms just enough for your needs but amazingly bathroom was better than any kind of luxury hotel. Minibar was excellent too. Namely price /performance is the best... More

We love Paige as well she is a great member of the team to have greeting our guests everyday, I would be very sad if you took here away, not to mention that is considered kidnapping (ha). Parking in NY is limited. We don't really make any money we pass along the charge from the garage, you will find the... More

Stumbled across this gem as I was looking to book two rooms for a weekend stay in NYC. Fantastic location adjacent to numerous restaurants, shopping, and historical landmarks. World class staff who routinely goes above and beyond to make each visitors stay remarkable. Eclectic feel with an amazing staff of Manhattan. Couldn't find something negative to say about this hotel... More

I am so happy to read your review, especially that a hotel of our style can deliver 5 Star Service without pretense. In my opinion I think we have one of the best locations downtown. Shopping, eating and subways all within a few blocks of hotel. Hope you can come back again soon! Regards, Troy Pade General Manager More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located off Cooper Square in one of New York's most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure-very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan. There's a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level, Michelin-starred chef John Fraser's widely acclaimed Narcissa, and the bustling, street-side Café Standard, which hums from morning until late night. ... more   less
