Travelers' Choice
Located off Cooper Square in one of New York’s most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure—very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan. There’s a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level, innovative cuisine and natural wine at Narcissa, the bustling, all-day street-side Café Standard with an indoor mushroom farm and retail bread program, and NO BAR, a highly inclusive new wave gay bar with late night parties and club-like programming.

Front desk help was terrific. Easy, safe check in. Nice, smallish room with a beautiful view of midtown. Only negative was parking - garage was 2 blocks away and highly disorganized at pickup. Took me well over an hour to get my car - probably just a bad day, but still.... added an hour onto my 7 hour trip home.

Cons; Small rooms with a very small amount of window space for light. No coffee in rooms. Lighting wasn't very bright. Desk chair was uncomfortable. Front desk got into a screaming fight with delivery man about wearing a mask and using front door. That was lovely. waited 30 minutes for coffee in the lobby bar since they just got there and no coffee was made... paid 5 dollars for coffee for that pleasure. hotel was pretty empty and they didn't upgrade me. Pros: check in was lovely except for the fact they were empty but didn't upgrade me. Sheet and bed were nice. Place was clean.

Hello Chris, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are saddened to see your overall stay was not up to your expectations. In the current time we are in Standard has put in place a Guideline to ensure all of our visitors are safe at all times. The wear of the mask inside the hotel is mandatory. Confrontations are not ideal but the safety of our guests comes first :) I am sorry you had to witness our staff handling this situation. We do offer a coffee set to be delivered upon request. Don't hesitate to ask us next time as well as for an upgrade we will be more than happy to check the availability for the evening and do our best to accommodate you. I do hope you will give us another chance in the future. Best, Franck Hermann. Director, Front Office

The standard east village is my favorite standard. Super small, boutique vibes with a great restaurant and bar. Highly recommend. The manager Franck is the best! The view from the rooms is amazing, you can see the whole east village. The location is great too if you're spending most of your time downtown. It's close to all the trains too which makes it super easy to get around
