Excellent rooftop with views of the city & park. Must get there when they open because it was very crowded. Drinks were great. Cheese plate was ok. Great outside rooftop. We would definitely go again. Location on 5th avenue was great . Good people watching.
I checked in on a Tuesday and stayed through Sunday. The management, doormen, bell, front desk, housekeeping, literally everyone that works at this property are the best of the best. I had a couple of special requests through my work that a normal hotel would not have accommodated. They did so and not only did it, but had it ready to go within an hour. It was amazing. I have stayed at many fine hotels I travel both domestically and internationally, and I believe the Peninsula rates right at the top.
The Peninsula is the Grande Dame of NYC hotels. You will definitely not get the hippest rooms with the most fancy decor, but everything is nicely appointed and extremely well kept and clean. Of course you will notice some wear and tear in the room but nothing really bothered us during our 3 nights stay in August. The rooms of the hotels sister property in Chicago are definitely more up to date, but compared to other hotels in NYC in the same price range The Peninsula is a very good choice. Having stayed at the Park Hyatt as well as Mandarin Oriental just a couple of weeks before, The Peninsula really makes up with its excellent staff and service. The contact prior to our arrival was perfect and all of requests were taken care of. During our stay every staff member was constantly smiling and very attentive.…
I really enjoyed my stay here- as a family we had stayed before and it didn’t feel quite as luxurious in the room or attitudes this time. With that being said, Monica the maid was fantastic and constantly helping and made the trip lovely, she always radiated happiness and lit up the trip. It was a great location and foyer but the rooftop connected to the spa was shut when we went and that was a huge draw for us last time. It was fun regardless but it has lost its spark a bit. We stayed in the superior suite.
Hotel is amazing. Service is great, location is amazing, breakfast is superb (particular shout to Ramón who took care of us!). The hotel was great from before our arrival. The concierge really knows NYC, made all our (very numerous) bookings, and when we asked questions they did not know the answer, made sure that they got us accurate information. Couldn’t speak highly enough of them! Clements is great. We only had breakfast there, but it was great every day! Room is also spacious with great toiletries and views onto Fifth Avenue. Wifi is also consistent - which to me is very important! Not a bad word to say about this great spot! Expensive, but worth every penny!
Customer service was top-notch! From the moment we checked in, to the concierge, to the guest relations dept. who made sure my young kids were entertained, to everybody working in F&B- just awesome. Location- awesome! Right in the middle of everything. Rooms- the rooms were fine- were they the most technologically advanced rooms I’ve ever stayed in? No, but for NYC, and the fact that we were just sleeping in the room, it more than served its purpose. Housekeeping/cleanliness- zero issues…. Only con- 185.00 room service charge for a couple pancakes and some juice and coffee was a bit much. The food and drink prices are not what I’m accustomed too, and it really makes more sense to head elsewhere when it comes to having to feed a family of four for an entire week. Would definitely stay there again- the staff won’t be outdone!…
Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff, excellent location. I saw Pat Sajak staying there which was pretty cool. The rooftop restaurant was chic and the food and drinks looked delicious. Room was clean, and quiet. I still try to buy their bath products online and can barely ever find them.
The good- The location. The room cleanliness. The polite front desk. The shower water pressure. That’s about it. The bad. The cheap dead gladiolus flower arrangement in the lobby was an omen. The rooms look like they have not been updated since 1987. The bed was old and uncomfortable. My back cried out in pain the next morning. The chair in the room was stained and worn. The technology in the room is a relic from another era with a light informing me that I have a “Fax waiting” and two phone lines in the commode room. A printer. Nobody needs this. There was not a tablet or iPhone charge port to be found. We need this. The restaurant was closed for dinner service and overall the hotel seemed vastly understaffed. Management was invisible. The concierge was too busy to talk when I called. This hotel seems like it’s days are numbered. They are either on their way to closing this location or on the brink of a well overdue renovation. I have stayed at the other US Peninsula properties and the difference is night and day. At the Beverly Hills location, we were greeted by name each time we entered the hotel. They picked us up from the airport. They offered a chauffeured house car for short trips. They asked about, and had a custom made welcome drink ready upon our arrival. They actually monogrammed the pillowcases with our name. Chicago has the sleek bar with top notch service and snacks. A world class restaurant. A happening rooftop lounge. New York barely opened the door upon arrival- when they were there. Their rooftop was a smokers paradise with snacks. There are so many better hotel options available in midtown and for $1 thousand plus a night, This hotel seems like a cruel, expensive joke.…
Some positives: Convenient location, proper service, quick elevators, dependable housekeeping. Negatives: beat to death guest room bedding, furniture, and electronics; one monotonous dining option. Peninsula management this hotel desperately needs a major refresh!
Did a wedding event here and this is a very nice hotel I can see why it cost 1k a night. The lounge/bar area is nice. The dining room that was rented was a nice size. Only problem for dinner was they didn't have chicken left and only fish. Still if you have the money this is definitely a great hotel to stay in
