Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the Mark for a week for vacation. The bed and bedding was outstandingly comfortable, the room temp was very comfortable, the bathroom was large. We stayed in their regular King bedroom room. The amenities at the hotel were great! Room service was delicious and prompt. The bar was popular but not crowded. The gym is small but it was nice. The hotel maids were fabulous. Some mornings we left the do not disturb sign on until noon, but then as soon as we left the room and removed the sign they would come clean no matter what time it was. Waters were always provided and the mini bar restocked. The location is great! Beautiful neighborhood near Central Park, shopping and dining. It would be hard for us to choose anywhere else to stay when we come to NYC, mainly because of the great nights sleep/overall comfortable stay we had.

Terrific experience! The hotel is in a great location, a block away from Central Park and a quiet street. The bar and restaurant scene is fun and lively, with the food living up to the Jean Georges name. Even something as seemingly straightforward as avocado toast was the best my wife has ever had. The service from the staff was exceptional as were the rooms. I asked if they could make a special accommodation to help with an injury, unsure of how they would respond. But Jessica, Akeem and the rest of her housekeeping staff immediately responded with a “can-do” approach, went out of their way to create a solution and were so pleasant in going about it. They truly went above and beyond the service I have experienced at other hotels of this caliber. We have actually switched our default hotel in NYC to The Mark based solely on the service. We have stayed several more times from the initial visit and Jessica proactively made a note in our profile of the accommodation so it would be made pre-arrival, as it was on our most recent stay. Just outstanding service and so pleasant to interact with every stay!

We stayed in a “Junior Suite 77”, room 306. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by several staff members. No lineup at reception. The room was awesome. It overlooked 77 Street. We had no problem with street noise; there were two blinds as well as drapes on the bedroom window. Water pressure was excellent. Everything worked well. Bathrooms were a good size.
Excellent location, just half a block from Central Park on Upper East Side. We had a complimentary hotel pedicab tour of Central Park: this was most enjoyable, and the driver Bobby was very interesting and pleasant.
The service was phenomenal! Staff quickly learned our names, and everyone was so friendly and helpful. Patrick at the front desk was so enthusiastic. We liked that the concierge desk was open later than most hotels.
Overall, this is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. Each time we approached the main entrance, we felt like we were coming home.

Expected so much more from this world class hotel, but was disappointed. An error with adjoining rooms I had been guaranteed separated our family on the first night and the compensation we were offered was forgotten about when paying the bill.
Simple requests went unanswered such as asking for cutlery and, honestly, we felt like our custom just wasn’t all that important or welcome.
The location is incredible and we had a lovely few drinks at the bar, but overall I expected so much more from an establishment of this calibre. To top it off - when I provided detailed feedback as requested by email (which expressed my disappointment) I heard nothing back at all.
At these prices I urge anyone to choose another hotel where the experience will feel more personal and you will feel more valued as a guest. We don’t plan to go back to The Mark.

This is my fourth stay at the Mark. This time I was upgraded to an absolutely fabulous Garden Suite, which I very much appreciate. The shower was great, room truly beautiful. One caveat is that there is no air conditioning vent in the master bath, so we had to leave the door open to shower.
But the service isn’t as good this time around. When we arrived, my husband and I had to drive around the block a few times as a catering van blocked the entrance, and there were no attendants outside to help. The van finally inched up a bit, but there was minimal help at our arrival, no offer of a beverage at check in. We traveled light, so we brought our bags to the room ourselves, which is fine. A few sour green apples were left for us with a nice note, some small cookies were dropped off a bit later.
When we left and then returned to the hotel that evening, the hotel attendants were too busy socializing to greet us or to help us open a car door, which I am perfectly capable of on my own. We were the only guests outside each time.
It’s just not 5 star service this time around. No bottles of water are offered each time you leave the hotel. It’s very hot and humid outside.
Again, we are so appreciative of our lavish upgrade! We would definitely come again.

This is my favorite boutique hotel in NYC and we have been staying there for years. The service is always fantastic. The employees know your name and everyone seems to recognize you from the moment you arrive until you leave.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious, the beds and the bed linens are some of the best I have ever slept on in a hotel.
The room service is also delicious, from breakfast to dinner, and never disappoints. The coconut chicken soup is a must have.
My only critique of the hotel is the bar. It is incredibly small and always impossible to get any room for a drink, standing or sitting. They need to figure out a better way to accommodate hotel guests who want to have a drink before or after dinner. Other than that, hotel is perfect.

Our teenage son and I just returned from our Spring Break trip to NYC. We decided to stay at The Mark after reading such favorable reviews. I'm thrilled to say the favorable reviews are an understatement based on our experience. The exceptional service began long before we arrived to the hotel. The most wonderful, thoughtful and caring concierge - Suzana M. - looked after every single detail. She was instrumental in making this the best mom/son trip we could have ever imagined. Upon check-in we were greeted by the lovely front desk staff and beyond pleased with the seamless process. The room was well appointed and the bathroom was superb. The water pressure in the shower is so great it felt like a massage. The food at the hotel is delicious and the service is impeccable. We loved the breakfast each morning and eating a late lunch in the bar/lounge with Vlad who made sure every detail was perfect. Our son wouldn’t miss the hot dog cart and getting to know the magnificat Harry who operates the cart and made sure we had everything we needed. We would not stay anywhere else in the city after this experience. We felt so welcome and taken care of at all times. The hotel is so well staffed that everything is anticipated before you need to ask. A few other members of the team we would like to acknowledge are Gabriela and Maria (concierge), David (front desk) and Tony (front desk). The front desk manager Tony handed us his card on our way out and expressed how much he appreciated our stay and would love to welcome us back. We will be back!

I just spent ten nights at The Mark after an eight month absence due to Covid. It was magical, same kind faces to open the car door, more kind faces to receive me at Reception. My room was spotless as ever and I never felt doubtful about cleaning procedures or steps taken to keep me safe, healthy and happy. The Mark has made the mandated outdoor dining as pleasant as possible with same tasty food and attentive service. I had my family over for two meals in my room, via Room Service, and that was also wonderful. I am booked already to return early December. It was a lovely experience, feeling alive again in such lovely surroundings as The Mark provides.

I arrived at the Mark for my first hotel stay since the beginning of COVID and was just excited to be out of my apartment. I had booked a superior courtyard queen room for over $800 through Amex FHR. On the hotel website, there were several King courtyard rooms and suites available, so was a bit surprised at check-in that we didn't receive a complimentary upgrade through FHR (or any mention of it). I understand with COVID protocols, logistics around upgrades can be complicated, but the fact there was no mention was odd. The guest rooms themselves are quite small for the price paid, but the rooms were clean and comfortable with modern amenities. Room service breakfast was OK, and for well over $100 for two people, seemed mediocre (the pastry basket didn't taste fresh). We did get a $60 breakfast credit through FHR, but that doesn't even cover the continental breakfast package. Also on the dining front, we tried to get a table outside for lunch (we aren't comfortable inside due to COVID) and there were no tables. We ordered room service instead and the food was good. I think it's worth mentioning though that in situations like that, it would be nice if the large room service fees were waived during this time. All in all it was a pleasant stay, but it didn't feel as 5 star as other nearby hotels in the same price point.

The hotel is wonderful- we had an issue with our rooms initially and they fixed it and upgraded us to a one spacious suite with two bathrooms. The amenities, the wonderful bed linens and decor is top-notch. Our only complaint is the restaurant service. We had problems with our order, with waiting long periods of time to get served (including coffee!) . Breakfast is included in our package but the service was so bad the manager comped our breakfast two mornings in a row, which considering it was included was irrelevant compensation. We did not eat dinner or lunch so perhaps the service is better but at breakfast, simply awful. If it wasn’t included we would go to a diner. Besides that- wonderful hotel and great location. Will stay again, but skip having breakfast included.

30 streets away - about a mile and a half
See the New Years Eve package on their website. Room, Dinner, and breakfast. Sure to end the year right and welcome 2020 in style.
We are staying on the 2nd floor and slept until 10:30am on a Monday without being woken by outside noise. The room is superb.
No idea as how to help. Send them over to Madison Avenue for deluxe shopping or window shopping. Lots to see. Safe area.
The Zadig et Voltaire shop around the corner is really great and has cutting-edge styles, suitable for teens. It is pricey, but tell them maybe they can pay off one purchase over time:)
Just teasing, but there is SO MUCH to do in NYC! You are a stone's throw from the Bemelmann's Bar at the Carlyle. I know they are a little old for Madeline, but it is iconic NYC and maybe the bartender will turn a blind eye or give them Shirley Temples. Look for the Madeline paintings all over everything - Bemelmanns paid for his stay that way, back in the day!
