Our stay over the Labor Day weekend this year was unacceptable. Which is sad since we enjoyed our stay a year ago. And it seems obvious based on other reviews that the Larchmont has slipped. It is with sadness that I write this bad review. Why? The location is fantastic -- on a quiet street between 5th and 6th ave.... More

Bed Bugs. Got three bites in a few hours of sleep there. Nothing worse than bed bugs at a hotel. ITs an absolute nightmare waking up in the middle of the night now to check and see if any followed you home.

Please be advised that I stayed at this hotel 10/3 - 10/14. My room, 5W1 was infested with bed bugs. I had to deliver live bugs to the front desk to convince them I was telling the truth. The hotel manager Mr. Khan was completely unsympathetic, made no apology and after moving me to 2 other rooms at great inconvenience,... More

My partner and I booked this hotel earlier this year when it was getting more favourable reviews than it has been for the past few months. I watched in horror as our holiday loomed and review after review provided tales of bed bugs, widespread dirt, and poor service. Imagine my relief when we finally got to the Larchmont after an... This place was OK, but there were some problems. It wasn't dirty, exactly. They cleaned every day. I would describe it as funky. It needed the old rugs torn out and replaced, and the bathrooms retiled.Of course all of this would put the price up. The TV didn't work properly, and it took more than two complaints for them to... I was not expecting much, but I don't see how people can give this place anything more than 2. The room was tiny, but that was part of the deal. Washroom shared, also part of the deal. But the fan, air conditioner and carpet looked like they had not been cleaned in over a decade - dust, grime, filth. Elevator... More

Came back from New York city a week ago. I was staying at Larchmont hotel and was not disappointed. I booked a single room for three nights which was located on the 5th floor, east side. My room was tiny.. but I had all I needed inside: a sink, clean towels, a robe & slippers. The lady at the front... More

After reading the reviews on this site I made a reservation at the Larchmont and went in with very low expectations. This place follows the truism that you get what you pay for, but, frankly, I don't want to spend a lot of money on accomodations since I don't spend much time in my room when I'm traveling. As others... More

This is reasonable budget hotel for New York, where hotel rates are very high. If you are expecting the Ritz, you will be disappointed. If you come with reasonable expectations for a budget hotel, then you won't be disappointed. details at [--] PRO: Location, within reasonable walking distance of Union Square subway; provides robes & flip-flops which almost no other... This hotel was a great budget option leaving us more money for expensive New York City meals! We were a bit concerned with the idea of sharing a bathroom, but our room was right next door to two bathrooms and we didn't have to wait once. The bathrobes also came in handy. The room was tiny but had everything we... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
