#55 of 531 hotels in New York City
Travelers' Choice
Join us for Joie de Vivre's New York debut, an all-new neighborhood gathering place in Chinatown. Our new boutique hotel is crowned with a rooftop terrace lounge overlooking the Manhattan skyline. Where diverse cultures have come together for centuries. A springboard to some of New York City's most vibrant neighborhoods, from here in the heart of Chinatown to the Lower East Side, Tribeca, Soho, Little Italy and Brooklyn. 50 Bowery is a boutique hotel that captures the energy of NYC, inspired by the cultural crossroads of our location on Manhattan's oldest street, where diverse cultures have come together for centuries. With this hotel's convenient location on Bowery near Canal Street and the Manhattan Bridge, getting anywhere in NYC will be a breeze. We celebrate the joy of life, where General Washington communed with his men at the Bull's Head Tavern, where actors once took the stage at the vibrant New York Theater, and where new Americans from Europe and Asia brought their optimism and ambition.

Excellent hotel, great location. Very clean and staff always friendly and helpful. I chose this hotel due to the possibility of getting a view like they have in the photos online as I was taking my son for a belated 21st birthday trip. I chose a double double room with a city view. I was a little apprehensive about the area as I haven’t stayed that far downtown on previous trips to New York but it was such a good location. A few minutes walk to canal street and you are on the subway. Took about 1 hour to walk to Times Square, passing lots of parks, shops, restaurants etc on the way. The room was very big and spacious. Bathroom well layer out, although no blind at the window a little odd. The view from the bathroom window is also stunning but I’d just make sure you don’t have the light on at night, just incase someone is watching from somewhere! Bed extremely comfortable. Good amount of storage. Huge TV on the wall, but we were more interested in watching the view we had Loved everything about this hotel, so much so that whilst there I changed the hotel for my next trip in October to 50 Bowery!

Hi Rachel! i actually remember you contacted us directly before arrival to say it was your son's birthday, i am so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay! Good news is that the building glass is tinted from the outside so no problem with the bathroom window; we leave it without frosting to maximize natural light and that view. We are excited to see you back in October, please email us with any special requests, Ryan

Nice modern hotel steps away from some of the most famous restaurants in Chinatown. Awesome 2nd floor patio with free coffee and tea all day. Beautiful rooftop bar. Rooms are simple but very clean, up to date, and provide all necessary amenities. The toiletries in the bathroom are very nice. Nice breakfast delivered to hotel by 2ndKitchen. The front desk staff is really nice.

Had an excellent stay at 50B over Christmas. Everything met our expectations. Location idea for CT, LI, SOHO. The Living room on 2nd floor was idea to relax with morning coffee/tea/breakfast. Used it to eat our take outs from CT. Will be back again... one of the best Hyatts in the city.

Went with my girlfriend to experience NYC at Christmas. This hotel was everything we could have asked for. Friendly staff and very clean modern rooms. Amazing location Right on border of China Town and Little Italy which were great to explore. Very close to subway stops that get you anywhere you want to go. We chose to walk quite a bit. 30 min walk to 911 memorial. 1.5 hr walk to Central Park with amazing sights to see along the way. All in all a great hotel at a great price in an amazing convenient location.

Dear OllyRob, Thank you choosing us for your recent getaway. I am really glad you both enjoyed your time and I took a lot of pleasure in reading your review to the team. we consider ourselves a launch pad for local exploration so i was thrilled to learn you did so much walking around, NYC is best on foot i believe. You were very adventurous walking all the way to Central Park, certainly one of the must see areas of the city. I hope we can welcome you back again in the future. sincerely, Ryan

I had to come through NYC for work on short notice- through NYE that is!! I felt so welcomed by the staff at 50 Bowery- as always everyone was quick to receive me, addressing me by name in the most warm and familiar way. Not shortcuts were had, my room was upgraded and a bottle of champagne waited on ice for me to arrive. I cannot say enough good things- location is incredible (i love bridges!!) right off canal st, super clean and tidy- wonderful space both to work and relax... and dont get me started on the incredible views of the city from the rooftop!!

Dear SarahBui, It was our pleasure to have you back last week, thank you for being such a loyal guest to us and for taking time out of your day to write such a lovely comment. In the internal survey you wrote you were gracious enough to mention some of our Rockstar team members by name; i was proud to share that with them and we have an incentive program to reward positive name mentions so your thoughtful comments got a few colleagues closer to a little bonus :) they say thank you!! Looking forward to seeing you back soon, Ryan
