A nice place to stay, I've stayed there several nights and the room is a bit dated, but overall it's clean. The housekeeping staff is awesome, they have serviced the room daily, even with me being an extended stay guest.
The staff is polite and they have a morning breakfast, which is the usual items, eggs, sausage, biscuits/gravy and pancakes. There is also the option to order breakfast as there is a restaurant with the hotel. The pool looks clean, but I've not used it so I can say for certain.

I've observed there are a lot of oil field people who also stay there, but it is still quiet and they work to keep the area clean. I noticed hotel staff cleaning the buildings and grounds frequently.

When here several years ago, lodging was quite expensive. Carlsbad is still more expensive than it warrants. A remnant of the continuing oil/gas boom that it has experienced over the last decade. I rebel at the prices. As usual, wanted to stay somewhere ‘fun’. Not much available. Looking around, I found Steven’s Inn. While teaching here, we’d pass the Stevens Inn. It was one of the nicer places. Driving into it, Stevens Inn is much bigger than I thought and remember. It has a restaurant and lounge as well.

On the phone I was served by a very nice attendant who said he’d give us a room upgrade. Hopefully, it’s nice. Well, it is. We have an Executive King Suite (fancy name, huh?). And it’s a real suite. First off, the most important, it has a nice bedroom with a king bed, and all the rest (dresser, two night stands). The other room is big with a couch and easy chair a credenza and writing desk. Turn around and there’s a kitchenette with a microwave, mini refrigerator, full range and small sink (but no utensils whatsoever). It’s all quite clean and well maintained.

Glad we stayed here.

Pros: spacious room, comfortable bed, good breakfast, friendly staff, good shower pressure. Good sized fridge. I appreciated the big closet.

Cons: Overall a little more gross than I would hope for. Tub had a layer of sediment - I had to rinse it out before bathing my toddler. Mold in the caulking. Carpet felt clammy. Yes, clammy - cold and damp. Bathroom had half a bottle of watered down shampoo. Found a screw and a Bobby pin on the floor. Bag of trash sat outside our room (outdoor entrance) the whole time we were there (just one night but still an easy pickup).

We spent two nights here in room 250 with the assumption this is a Best Western.
The receptionist and breakfast staff were helpful and friendly, although the food wasn’t all that.
The room seemed like it had a recent upgrade, was spacious, and a comfortable bed but that’s it -otherwise I’d give a one star.
First; the heater was loud, then the refrigerator wasn’t cold due to a broken knob, even the microwave wouldn’t work unless you put pressure on it’s knob.
Second; the majority of guest were oil workers from Texas. Ok, fine.
But we learned from some locals that since the floodgates are now open for drilling oil, there are a lot of Texans migrating to New Mexico and causing problems both economically and socially within the Carlsbad community (not my words) with the exception of business owners.
These locals said that the Stevens Inn was the “go to place” for them as there is a nightclub here.
I didn’t have a good nights sleep from the early a.m. laughing, slamming doors and diesel trucks warming up (plus that loud heater).
Third; the morning we were getting ready to leave, a hotel worker attempted to gain entry. Now, the door was closed with a “Do Not Disturb” tag on the door handle. I just happened to be standing by the door totally topless when the door suddenly opened. I slammed it shut on this person’s face and yelled some choice words. He or she stood there for a few seconds then casually walked away.
No knock on the door, no identifying his or herself -nothing!
I was livid. After this , I read up on the “terrible” reviews from this site and determined that thee Ed manager most likely will not do anything about it. I def will not return here.

The property is okay at best. The property is dated and requires upgrading. The pool is a mess. It was not cleaned on any of the 4 days spent at this property. The water is green and full of debris. Chlorine cakes littered the bottom of the pool for two days. We had trouble with housecleaning. Reading the information booklet in the room, it states to let the front desk know, when you would like house cleaning. At 8:30 am one morning we let them know we were ready, upon returning in the evening the room was not made up. When we called, we were told housecleaning had gone home. It was difficult to get a good night's sleep due to the mattresses and linens. The mattresses were hard, and the linens were rough. The complimentary breakfast was terrible. The service was great but the food was under cooked and cold. We were arriving at breakfast at 6:00 am, right at opening. So, if the food was cold then it would be colder later. Bottom line, there are other nicer places to stay for the same price range. I would pass on staying here; we will not be staying here again.

As a marketing professional, I know the true value of reviews. Though I don't often take time to write a review, this business deserves a 5 star review. You would not think a "no brand" name hotel would reasonably earn 5 stars. I was apprehensive when our group booked here, but I was more than pleased with the result. Not only were the rates reasonable, the accommodations were nice, fairly modern, well-kept, clean, and safe. We had a small issue with a door lock, but maintenance came immediately and fixed properly. Heating/cooling was great. Beds comfortable. Rooms clean. Bathroom well appointed with quality towels. Parking great. Check-in VERY professional. Overall, this was not a disappointment in any way.

The part that I really want to make known is the quality of the restaurant. At the last minute I asked if they could accommodate 20-30 people for dinner. The manager said, “yes.” I was worried; plus, we had almost 40 people total. The restaurant was full with regular dinners, the back room had a party with a buffet. We were put in the breakfast area, which was a perfect dining room for our group. What was amazing was the quality of the food, the excellent reasonable price, and somehow thew served us very timely. I don’t know how the one waitress did all of our room and part of another and did so efficiently and with care. The food came out timely and was of great quality. Everyone was happy.

This is an outstanding place for parties, rooms, and overall good times. Thank you Stevens for being so good at what you do!

We found this place while visiting Carlsbad Caverns. Nicely updated motel from days gone by. Room was spacious and comfortable. The pool looked nice, but we didn't have a chance to use it. The hot breakfast buffet was delicious and the serving staff was very friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend this place.

So glad I stayed at Stevens Inn. Staff were so friendly and helpful, room was immaculately clean. Plenty of parking, quiet, always felt safe staying here. Breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, juice, cereal, yogurt--everything you could want. Your coffee cup will be filled without your having to ask.

Felt good to give my business to a local establishment instead of one of the mega corporations. Highly recommended!

Loved our room! It has a fridge, microwave and plenty of storage space for clothing etc. The Inn is dog friendly we loved our room. It was on the first floor with a sliding door to a grassy area for pets. Our dog loved watching all of the activity through the sliding door. Stevens Inn has plenty of places for dogs to walk, they have a well kept lawn area. There is a pool and restaurant as well. Breakfast was really well done!
It is about a 40 min drive from Carlsbad Caverns.
Would stay here again!

This is an older hotel with which we were very pleased. The staff at the front desk, the restaurant and the lounge were so incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast room staff were terrific. We chose the hotel because we knew they had dining and a bar and that can be a challenge in Carlsbad. Doesn't do you any good to hike Carlsbad or Guadalupe Mountain and then not find a place to eat. The Flume restaurant has very good food. Ate there twice because both of the other restaurant we wanted to try had 1.5 hour waits. We were so very pleased with our stay. I cannot say enough about the staff. Every single person was over the top helpful and friendly. Keep up what you are doing!
