Cute historic property. Nice small casitas with small kitchen. The futon bed not very comfortable. Kitchen basic but ok for easy meals. Nice helpful staff. Breakfast next door is a wonderful place. Overall - a nice option to stay in Carlsbad.

Lots of nice amenities like chocolates, wine glasses, breakfast for the next morning. Well appointed and comfortable. Bed was perfect, a good rest for hiking the next day. We enjoyed staying at Fiddler's Inn on our road trip from Colorado to Texas.

A colleague and I were in Carlsbad for business and were very pleased with our rooms. My room was lovely with everything I needed for our one night stay. We had a coupon for breakfast at the Blue House Bakery & Cafe, which covered the cost of my breakfast and coffee. It is close to downtown and in a walkable area. I will stay here again.

As others have mentioned, the inn is near a busy street and supermarket but we weren't bothered by any noise. Our room was not on the "courtyard" side of the building but faced the parking lot of a Dr.s office in the building next door. We stayed on a Friday, Sat. and Sunday so there was no activity in the parking lot. The room was very nicely decorated but was rather in need of brighter lightbulbs as the ceiling was a bronze colored tin. There were no windows in the room or bathroom so we were disappointed that we couldn't get any fresh air or light from a window. That said, the room was nicely appointed, comfortable bed and the breakfast at the Blue House Bakery 2 doors down was very good. Since the bakery isn't open on Sunday, breakfast was delivered to our room Saturday afternoon and consisted of yogurt, fresh fruits, juice, English muffins and small blueberry muffins. There was a microwave and refrigerator in the cupboard. There were chocolate chip cookies every afternoon. There were several feral cats around and being a cat person we weren't bothered by them.We never saw the owners so it really didn't have the "feel" of a B&B but it was certainly nicer than staying in a chain motel/hotel.

I have been busy, so it’s been a while since we stayed at the Fiddlers Inn, but I had to write a note about the title Bed & Breakfast. I don't think this should be listed as a B+B, because we never saw the host, nor sat in a common area. The “Foggy Mountain” room had a kitchen that needed TLC. The burners that were covering the hot plate were burnt and looked old. We noticed earplugs on the nightstand, which is not a good sign; traffic noise was bad because the Inn is on a rather busy street and one block away from a large grocery store which in turn had a large parking lot. One nice touch was a great piece of art; a music concert ticket that may have been an original. (being an artist I noticed it) We believe the owners bought the Inn for In-come and not as a Bed & Breakfast to socialize with their renters. The owner did mention the Art Center was within walking distance and we were amazed at the quality of the museum and performing arts in such a small town, good for them! The only nice feature was foster cats were taken care of. Like many others, people stayed here to be close to the Caverns.

Unique, homey and yummy. The rooms were cozy with great lighting and fun decor. The breakfast was outstanding, provided by the Blue House with the allotment from Fiddler's Inn being generous, allowing us to pick from the full menu.

Four of us traveled through Texas and New Mexico visiting the beautiful National Parks. Of all the places we stayed, Fiddler's Inn was our favorite. The weather turned very cold and after a long drive we were tired and needing a rest. Walking into our warm, cozy and beautifully furnished room was such a treat. There were so many extra touches - - mints, cookies, lots of towels, earplugs, Q-tips, bottles of water, $18/person coupons for breakfast at the local bakery, hot tub to warm our bones - simply marvelous.

Fiddler's Inn in Carlsbad, NM is a beautiful facility. Our room (Whiskey Before Breakfast) was beautifully decorated with unusual furnishings -- many antiques. We even were able to read the origin of the name of our room. However, overall, this was an experience like no other B & B Inns we have been in previously. We were disappointed as were our friends who were in a different room. We never met the Innkeepers. Only 1 towel and wash cloth were in the bathroom which we didn't notice until 9:30PM. We had to borrow towels from our friends. Breakfast was with a voucher at a close-by bakery. Our voucher didn't cover the cost of our breakfast on Saturday and we only had a breakfast sandwich and coffee. On Sunday, we were given a tray with bananas and clementines. Orange Juice and yogurt were in the refrigerator. We could make coffee in our room. It was an OK breakfast but neither breakfasts were what we were used to at former B & Bs where we were given beautifully displayed and delicious full breakfasts at dining tables where we could interact with other visiting couples and with the Innkeepers. There was no common living or community room in which to enjoy games with our friends. While the facility was lovely, we felt our experience was less than what we would expect at the high price we paid.

We fortuitously stumbled on Fiddler’s Inn on our cross-country summer road trip! Our preference is always to get a taste of the local flavor. This inn gave us that and more. Who wouldn’t be intrigued to stay in a room named Whiskey Before Breakfast?! This sprawling room let us unfold and unwind from a long day in the road. We enjoyed an evening on the front porch, and could walk to any number of downtown restaurants. Breakfast is included at a sweet restaurant two door down. The innkeepers texted us room instructions, making our stay seamless. On top of everything, we received a discount for making reservations on the phone! Thank you Fiddler’s Inn! You’re a classy place.
