Our trip to the Grand 5 National Parks this fall has been AMAZING... But when I read a few of the latest write ups on Schoolhouse B&B in Torrey I thought I had made the wrong choice...but it was wonderful!!! The B&B is perfect! Clean, really an A+ in our book! Our room was on the 3rd floor- the views... More

You never know what you're getting when you stay at a B&B given whatever the personality is of the proprietor. Here, there was no one to greet us--our key was taped to the staircase--but that was okay with me after a bad experience at a B&B outside Zion a few days before. So, the hostess was available by phone and... More

Thanks for your review! Just to clarify for others: the key is always to a detailed personal welcome letter with information that includes my cell number and an invitation to call me, especially if help is needed with luggage. I'm either on site (or right across the street) from 3:00 pm until bedtime, popping in and out of the B&B,... More

I like inns like this, and applaud the idea of the old schoolhouse, as there is a dearth of nice places to stay in this beautiful area near Capitol Reef National Park. The inn itself is charming and pretty much as shown in the pictures. I realize b&b's are not hotels, and not all properties have a front desk, but... More

September & October are our busiest months. The Schoolhouse has ten rooms and doesn't require 2-night minimums, so we often have 8 or 9 couples arriving each day, even until late in the evening! And although we advertise a standard 3:00-6:00 check-in, we have guests arriving at all hours after 3:00 pm. It's not uncommon for arrivals after 9:00 pm.... More

The school conversion was wonderful. The enormous school hall was the guest dining room and relaxation room. There was a gas fire on in this room permanently whilst we were there. There were also many sofas, a proper massage chair and many nick-nacks, several school related. We did meet some fellow guests in this room. This place has two downsides... More

Thanks for your positive review and your feedback. We always want to know how we can improve! Just to clarify first, all our beds are either King or Queen size. The only 'standard double' bed is found in the smaller room off the large 2-room family suite called the Arithmetic Room. This bed in this 'accessible' first floor room is... More

Husband and I stayed for two nights and loved everything about this inn. It was once quite a grand schoolhouse and has been skillfully transformed into a delightful B&B. We stayed in the Arithmetic Room, it is very large, clean, and so comfortable. Breakfasts were out of this world. I highly recommend this inn if you are visiting Capitol Reef... More

This place is quite unique--a school house from 1927 converted into a beautiful B&B. Additionally, the local story is that Robert LeRoy Parker, aka Butch Cassidy, received his education here. Except for the smaller size, it reminded me of the elementary school that I attended as a boy, which was also built in the 1920s. My wife and I had... More

First, I want to thank for your positive reviews of our B&B! Just to clarify for others who may be worried about the 'stairs' issue: when you arrive, there is always a 'welcome letter' at the entrance that provides my cell phone number (and also my 30-something y.o. son's cell phone number) and asks for a call to one of... This is undoubtedly one of the most attractive B & Bs we have ever had to good fortune to visit. The rooms are quite attractive, as are the grounds. There is no elevator, so I you have a hard time with stairs, make sure that your room is on the second, not third, floor. Our room had a massage chair... More

I appreciate the positive review! Just to let others know that we do have several water pitchers and glasses near the entrance on the buffet's tea area. Also, we have a small elevator for laundry that accommodates all but the very largest oversized bags. So you need not worry about lugging heavy bags up the stairs. Also my 30-ish yr... More

This B&B was quite nice - good location, very clean, nice large rooms. Very organized check in process, access to extra pillows, blankets, toiletries etc easily available. Friendly and helpful hostess. The inn is old and there isn't a lot of insulation. Luckily people who stay in B&Bs tend to be quiet. I was also surprised that there were no... More

The big front door was open, and a note taped to the staircase bannister welcomed us to the renovated former schoolhouse in tiny Torrey, Utah, a few miles from Capitol Reef National Park. We were the only guests, which gave us the freedom to peek into the bed and breakfast's 10 or so guest rooms (the doors were all open),... More

The Torrey Schoolhouse is wonderful. With its school-themes rooms, delightful sitting area, and lovely garden, we found this little gem to be a respite from typical hotels and B&Bs. We loved our stay and will definitely be back. The breakfast was refreshing. The owner showed us around and answered questions about the garden and the schoolhouse. As well, she recommended... More
