We had an amazing visit to Cougar Ridge! The grounds were breathtaking and the staff was accommodating and very friendly. We arrived late at night after a drive from SLC airport. Jeri drove out to meet us at the edge of the property to get us setup at our casita. Our trip was over Thanksgiving, and the resort hired a local chef to provide the guests an amazing feast. The grounds are enormous, and we tooled around on mountain eBikes one of the days. Our casita was well appointed and more modern and high-end than we expected. The property is about 10 minutes from Capitol Reef NP, and central to Arches and Zion. We had a great visit and hope to come back!

This place was amazing!! Close to Capitol Reef in the quaint town of Torrey. We drove from Las Vegas and our flights were delayed. This made us later than expected getting to the Lodge. Geri was so kind and checked on us during the drive to make sure she knew when we would be arriving. She even met us in her side by side at the road to let us follow her to the Lodge because it was dark and rainy. We had been traveling all day and had not had much to eat. When we asked if there was still a place open, she told us to take what we wanted from the pantry at the check-in station. At that moment I knew we had chosen the right spot. We had planned to spend all our time at Capitol Reef but because this place is so special, we spent half a day just exploring the grounds. This was a fun adventure for us as we used the ebikes that are for guest to get around the property. We watched the sunset over the ranch in a special spot that the owner built so that you can climb to see the best views. AMAZING and so incredible. I could write so much about the casita that we stayed in (magnificent) and how attentive everyone was. For me though it was the attention to detail that they have put into the property. Everywhere we looked we saw something special. They even have a cat, Pattycakes, that looks like a miniature cougar. This wasn't on purpose as I asked but just another thing that made this place unique. I loved meeting all the animals. From Thor the longhorn Bull, I couldn't believe he was so friendly. I thought about the Ferdinand children's story, to the horses, miniature donkeys, llamas, alpacas, OH MY! We had signed up for a stargazing tour with another company, but they had to cancel. We attended the free event at Capitol Reef that was hosted by the Rangers. The last night we were there we bundled up and went to the pavilion area at the Lodge to look at the stars and what we had learned the evening prior. It was stunning. And the company we had booked the tour with was there with a group! So, if you are into stargazing this is the spot. We have traveled all around the world and stayed at some special places, but this Cougar Ridge has them all beat! Although we thought that Capitol Reef was going to be the main attraction (and it was because it is an underrated park that is great for hikers) this was a very close second. I want to go back and we have told everyone that this is THE place to stay in Utah! Thank you, Cougar Ridge for a once in a lifetime experience at your (can't think of another adjective that I haven't already used) Lodge!

While traveling from Moab to Bryce Canyon, we weren’t supposed to stop overnight. However, in reevaluating our travel plans, we realized we were trying to do too much in too little time. Torrey, Utah seemed like a good place to stop and Cougar Ridge Ranch looked to be a nice place. Nice doesn’t begin to describe this very special gem tucked away with mountains around along with llamas, horses, goats and donkeys. The accommodations are cozy, comfortable and very tastefully done. The villas are wonderful with individual outdoor balconies. We loved the open pantry concept for food where we could just come help ourselves to snacks and breakfast items. It’s hard to describe the overall relaxed ambiance of this wonderful property that we feel so lucky to have discovered. A special shout out and “thank you” to Jeri and Suzie who enhanced our stay and took such good care of us. Our biggest regret? We only stayed one night! We definitely want to return. Thank you, Cougar Ridge, for helping us create an unforgettable memory!

I will start my review by simply saying, this is by far the best place to stay in the entire southern utah area. cougar ridge lodge is located just off the main street. ( rout 24 ) in torrey ut. Its close to but not within walking distance to restaurants, gas stations, hiking trails, and capital reef. the lodge itself is a working ranch with the lodge itself and 7or so stand alone houses called casitas. we stayed in casita 4 that had 2 separate bedrooms each with a full bath/shower. one room had a king size bed and the other had 2 queens. each room had its own tv, dresser, and chairs. beds were comfortable and there were plenty of extra towels/pillows/blankets. I liked the robes that were provided (2 in each room) My only want would have been to have a pair of slippers as the stone floors were a little hard to walk on bare foot. I also liked the design of the rooms as they were across from one another giving you that extra space. It is especially nice for groups in families or 2 couples traveling together. the center of the unit was a combination of living room with tv, fireplace (we did not use tooooooo hot) and the small kitchen area complete with microwave, small fridge with ice maker, cabnets, countertop and stocked with plates/silverwhere/cups and coffee maker. (note no stove or dishwasher) at least in our unit. that was fine for us as we had no intentions of cooking anything anyway. to complete the casita it had a walk out deck with a view of the property and the surrounding red rocks and cliffs. awesome there was a grill on the deck we did not use, im sure its great. the grounds are impressive to say the least. We are animal lovers and enjoyed our time here with them.. every day we would stop to say hi to the horse, donkeys, goats, and lamas. most of them were eager to get there pets and rubs. each day we would give them names and visit often. please note the goats are small and they can and will crawl under the corral and roam free around the property. i never noticed them leave too far from there space and never did they follow us back to the casita. At dusk and dawn we often would see wildlife on the grounds such as jack rabbits, deer, and a marmot. sometimes when we were driving home from a day of touring. there is hot tub located between casita 4 and 5 for all guest to use. we used this a few times during our stay and found it nice as it is a stand alone hot tub with 4 seats (each one different from the other) after using just remember to re-strap the lid back on as high winds can come at any time and blow it away. The reception building is a short walk from the casitas that provides a breakfast . mostly cold items and some pre-made ready to eat items. (not a buffet or hot meals) other than the waffle maker. the nice thing about this , is its open 24/7 so i would go there at off times and get something drink or bring something back and re-heat it up later. The staff was very good and helpful at about everything from helping with accommodation needs and or concerns, restaurant recommendations, tour suggestions, and directions . there are maps of the area and surrounding area for sale here as will as a small gift shop. The sunsets are wonderful here. the sunrise is worth getting up for. we toured capital reef, bryce canyon, gobblin valley, and a few places in between and were able to see all of it and come back to the resort before it got dark. so the location was perfect for our 6 day vacation. considering the location, the casita, the grounds, the animals, and people who work here, this place rocks........ if we are in the area area again i would not even consider staying somewhere else.

Excellent place to stay while in Torrey if you want views, ability to cook, a patio, and nice views. Complimentary breakfast was nice and the beds were very comfortable. We stayed there for 6 nights with two young kids, and having our space was fantastic. Enjoyed Capitol reef National park and grand staircase escalate national monument.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cougar Ridge. It is conveniently located just a short drive from Capitol Reef National Park and Dixie National Forrest. The owner and his family and the staff were all extremely friendly, welcoming, helpful, and kind. The property is quiet and bucolic with goats, horses, and llamas, and the views are inspiring. The casita was absolutely amazing! We had two bedrooms, two modern and beautiful bathrooms, a living room with a gas fireplace, a beautiful kitchenette with all the basics you would need to prepare a meal, and a porch with a table and gas grill. The attention to detail throughout the casita was impressive and everything was first class. Overall, our casita was clean, comfortable, quiet, and well maintained, and we look forward to visiting again.

We returned to Cougar Ridge again this year because we enjoyed it so much last year. The experience was the same. Extremely comfortable lodging in a beautiful setting along with a warm, helpful, engaging staff adds up to a great trip. As we said after last year's visit, we'll be looking forward to seeing and experiencing all the new exciting additions to the resort in future years.
