During our stay in San Diego we stayed at the Bristol hotel. It was a very nicely decorated hotel with good amenities. I appreciated that there was a mini fridge and coffee machine in the room. It is also walking distance to lots of restaurants. One of my fav restaurants (breakfast republic) is just few blocks away. Staff was limited but friendly. The only con was that the valet parking took a little longer than I expected (probably also due to limited staff during the holidays). Overall good price, good rooms and more importantly great location. Definitely recommend.

First the towels and paper towels currently provided are barely usable - Im 5’ tall and petite and the towels didnt wrap around me or cover what they should! There was also a major fire / electrocution hazard with a broken plug sticking out of an outlet on the floor (see photo). But most offensive is that my first night here I had an allergic reaction to the down pillows and brought them downstairs at 10 pm asking for foam. The two staff seemed uncaring that I had a reaction and told me they contacted a supervisor but they have no alternatives, and I am welcome to go buy my own pillows at Ross the next day when they reopen. WHAT?!? I problem solved and had them give us two blankets which we balled up (see photo) to sleep, earning sore necks. Surprisingly the day staff were able to find four foam pillows when I asked again the next day and then had them delivered in less than half-an-hour. But I still contacted the front desk manager and general manager to inform them and make a friendly complaint because there should be some apology for a night without pillows. Three emails later and they have continued to ignore me. Im disgusted so I warn you that it might look nice here, but it is also severely lacking in service and the standard amenities.

All aspects of the stay were excellent. Location is close to everything. The rooms are well done and spacious. Beds were very comfortable. The vibe in the hotel is cool with a retro feel, colorful and inviting. Value was also very good. You are steps from Horton Plaza and Gaslamp.

I don't know where to start with this. After not being on a vacation for 2 years we decided to take our child on a couple days vacation before he starts school. We booked last minute and The Bristol was one of the very few hotels not sold out and after staying there I knew why. Our check in was ok except we were informed that parking was a $39...We decided to find street parking every night but we had to to go down every morning plung the meter by 8 am. When we check in the bathroom wasn't properly clean but hari was till on the sink countertop. We were never told that cleaning of the room will not be offered during this stay. After spending a long day sighseeing we came back to our room to find that it wasn't done. Same story everyday we stayed in a dirty room for 4 days. There was no blankets on the beds but only sheets. The first 2 nights I woke up sick due to how cold it was. One morning we got in the elevator and it appears that someone threw up and it wasn't cleaned. Coming back in the afternoon we see poop not too far from the main entrance!!! Homeless peple are everywhere in downtown and the smell of urine is overwhelming in downtown. Not to mention that this hotel is located very cloe to the jail. So you will hear police siren all night. We decided to lcheck out one day earlier because our experience at this hotel was not something we could take anymore. That day we walked to the lobby to find a flooding and a smell very much like sewage. At check out I was very frustrated with the manager and couldn't wait to pay my bill and leave. As soon as i got in my car I realized they charged me for parking which we never used. I called them and the woman who answered said that she will adjust it and email me a revised invoice. 4 days later it's not done but called again and was told the same thing. I will be waiting to see if it gets done. This definately was one of the worst hotel stays I ever had!!!!
