Overall the stay met expectations. The staff was wonderful from the desk to the managers were attentive and helpful. The property had some improvements since my last stay. There was no daily room maintenance, but one only need to as for additional towels. The location, and the value were right. It is close to every thing I needed for the stay and wifi was strong so I was able to work while I was there.

Huge clean room located near SDSU, but you couldn't tell, it was nice and quiet! Close enough to walk to restaurants. Did not utilize the pool or the grab and go breakfast. Was a nice place to just get away!

Hello andylb211998, Thank you for choosing our inn for your visit to San Diego! As you mentioned, we are very close to SDSU, just a mile away. And we do our best to maintain a quiet family friendly environment so that all of our guests can have an enjoyable stay. While we may not be in the hub of the touristy part of town, there are hundreds of restaurants on "the Boulevard" of every type of ethnicity you can think of! If you need any suggestions next time you're in town, ask our front desk staff and we will be happy to help. Our pool is open all year long and is being sanitized daily. We also ask our guests to please abide by the social distancing guidelines during this time. Maybe next time you stay, you'll get to relax in our lush pool area. Unfortunately, because of the current situation with the pandemic, our breakfast room is closed. The complimentary "grab and go" breakfast consists of a pastry, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, an orange and a bottle of water for those that would like a quick bite to eat in the morning. We really appreciate you taking the time to review us so that potential guests can see what we are all about. We hope to see you again soon! Call us directly for the best price, service and selection. Yours in Hospitality, Michelle C. Front Office Manager

Very friendly and helpful front desk service. The room was very clean and the outdoor entry feels safe. Everything worked and the hotel was a good value for the price. My son tried the pool and in late March it was still very cold. Not sure how representative this is of all rooms but the mattress was fairly worn in 211 and could use an update. TV was high quality. The wifi had a good connection but slow download speeds. We didn't see many other hotels nearby so this is a good bet if you're visiting SDSU. There are some restaurants nearby so it's possible to get by without a car.

Even though it is on a busy street the Lamplighter was very quiet. The management seems very concerned about the details. The lobby is inviting and beautifully decorated, the parking lot clean and the landscaping was well-tended. We stayed at this hotel during Thanksgiving, not the best time to travel but I felt that the management and staff of the hotel did their best to keep us (and them) safe. Rooms were extremely clean. There was no housekeeping during our stay so that we would have no one else in our room after it was sanitized. Breakfast was prepackaged. Not up to the usual BW standards but SAFE. The management and staff were very friendly; all wore masks and kept their distance which was very reassuring. I am looking forward to staying here again in more "normal" times.
