We went to check in today at 3:45pm. Everything started out smoothly until we were told we room wasn't ready. They just needed to have the verification step that the room was cleaned and it would only be a short wait. After 45 minutes pasted we noted the management talking about the room and three people went to check on it. 75 minutes after we attempted to check-in we were told it was ready. Got to the room and it had a perculiar strong air freshner scent. After about 10 minutes in the room we discovered why. The people in the next door room were smoking and the smell was leaking into our room through the air conditioning vents and the connecting door. The room began to reek of smoke. Called the front desk to ask that it be dealt with as this the hotel has a "nonsmoking" policy for the rooms and balconies. The front desk response was they could move us to a different room. Told the person they needed to address the issue rather than move us. It became obvious the front desk and hotel management weren't going to handle the situation. After another 15 minutes we called the front desk again. Front desk claimed they tried to phone the adjacent room several time; however, no one answered. We could easily hear the people in the adjacent room talking and there was definitely no phone ringing in the room. Since the hotel management wasn't willing to follow the nonsmoking policy, we were force to abandon the room. Got stuck with a much lower quality room that didn't meet our needs. The only thing we got from the hotel management was a lame "we're so sorry" which doesn't make up for their lack of action. Stopped by the front desk to drop off the key cards from the original room after we returned from dinner. Again got the "we're so sorry" line and the claim they had taken care of the issue. On a lark I decide to check it out. The situation had gotten worse instead of better. The entire end of the hallway had an even stronger stench of smoke than 2 hours earlier. So much for the perks of being a Diamond member. All we got out of this experience was a feeble apology, a poor quality room over the restaurant, and nothing more. Book here with low expectations. We'll be staying at the Sheraton in the future.

I have stayed at this property many times and always use it as an exit hotel when leaving San Diego. The property and the people are always on point and excellent. Thanks to Kevin for helping ensure my reservation didn’t disappear after the Hilton app went sideways. This will always be my go to in SD.

Great experience and customer service. Loved the amenities and location. Slightly disappointed that the ocean view from our room was not that great. The hotel took COVID seriously, which we appreciated. Worth a visit, but don't spring for the extra ocean view room.

Unless you want your family subjected to the smell of marijuana 24/7 and coffee grounds in your iron and unexpectedly pay $60+ more a night with no reconciliation or a call back from hotel staff, I warn you, do not stay here.

Did not do house keeping cleaning all day even direct request to the front desk 2 times. AC is loud to sleep with. Did not provide enough towel and toilet paper if we did not request. Smallest bath than any Hilton hotel we have stayed.
