It is a beautiful and opulent hotel. Wonderful service. They accommodated our guests and event with ease and convenience. Thank you Ashley, Sarah C., and Beatriz. You ladies are wonderful and made our trip effortless.
The bartender, Jan was the friendliest and makes the best drinks too. The people who man the desk in the afternoon are also very attentive. Sarah and Aldo namely are the two friendliest people we met who works in the Front Desk in the world. The pool was amazing and has the best views in downtown. The view from the balcony gives the final touch to my wonderful stay.
I was very pleased with the Westgate. If allowed, I would give 4.5 stars just because it could use a little updating here and there. Our room was clean, spacious and quiet. We were on the 15th floor facing south, which provided a view of the downtown skyline, the pool/jacuzzi below, and a partial view of the Coronado Bridge and bay. Staff was very friendly and prompt. Location was great and within walking distance to Gaslamp bars/restaurants, Little Italy, and the Harbor. Parking was valet only with a $45/day charge. My only complaint would be that the restaurant menu was limited, and the room service items even more so. Nevertheless, the food was delicious and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. I would stay again. Just for perspective, I tend to stay at mid-range boutique hotels and this fit nicely in this category.…
Beautiful, but everything is very old. Metal room Keys. It was freezing at night as warming system did not work at all not for me not for my neighbours, who was calling for help and instead of changing a room somebody came and begging to fix that in front of them. Badly smells like soup came in the middle of the night from under the connecting room’s door, it means very bad isolation. No body gel at the shower. Nobody offered to help with my luggage at the reception. It was nobody at valet parking. But the most disappointing very bad billing system : After leaving hotel with $0.00 balance I saw a pending hold for deposit not dropping up to 4 days like it was promised at the reception. At the day 4 after checked out I got $73 charge for 1 night parking, which nobody never mention and I even being promised to get back my pending holding amount in full, other way I would choose a different card to pay. After calling to ask what is it and why only at the day 4 I was told that all this I can find at hotel website, that 1 night parking is $45 + access fee ( but I didn’t book it there, how do I suppose to know, can reception and receipt can be more specific? Or they don’t know for 4 days that I had to pay access fee? All of this is disappointing. Pool was semi warm, but wind too strong and no wind glass protection at the roof. Very friendly staff though and good location. But too many things has to be fixed. I don’t want to be frozen at my room and got surprises bill week after my stay.…
Everytime I come here, Sarah and Aldo are always very welcoming and approachable. I love how you can approach them and they always provide you with multiple options around the city. Their suggestions are always on point! I am also happy that regular room service is back and having an interaction with my favorite server Gabriel. Being able to eat on plates compared to To-Go containers is always a joy when ordering Room Service. I love these small changes as they affect my stay in a large way.
I come to San Diego a couple times a month and stay at West Gate Hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean and location can’t be beat. Every employee at the hotel that I have come in contact with seems happy and eager to assist. They seem to really enjoy their jobs, which makes you feel extra special right when you walk in. Sometimes it’s the smallest details that make your stay more enjoyable. It definitely provides for a relaxing experience. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention a certain individual at the front desk named Sarah. She’s always courteous, professional and one of the main reasons I keep coming back to West Gate Hotel. Her attention to detail is unparalleled and she has an uncanny knack of making people feel welcome. I was a little stressed during my last visit and she knew just what I needed. A little R & R at the Veranda, then on to the rooftop pool for some sun. Sarah is a gem and is a definite asset to this hotel. Hands Down!…
We were returning from a Cruise and spent two days in San Diego prior to our flight back to the UK. The Westgate Hotel was convenient for the Cruise Terminal and the airport. It was very close to transport facilities. The staff were polite and helpful. Susan on the front desk could not have been more helpful. She gave us a lot of help on things to do in the city and always greeted us with a smile whenever we returned to the hotel.
My daughter and I had the best time at the High Tea! We were pampered by Gabriel, who was an amazing host and server. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and special! Thanks Gabriel, you’re an angel! Diane
The hotel is very big, but can feel like home thanks to the very professional and caring attention given to the guests by the staff, especially by Remi. It makes traveling for work way more pleasant when you have a thoughtful staff :)
Sarah at the front desk made sure I got checked in after my partner arrived. She was very helpful with details about the workout area and meals. The women who cleaned the rooms was literally deaf and did a phenomenal job. The room was spotless every day. I love that they hired someone with a disability rather than discriminating. The place is downtown close to the Trolley and it's a short walk to the water.
