I had booked a grand room for Saturday night. Due to water damage my room was downgraded to a traditional room. The hotel gave us a voucher for dinner at the restaurant (food only). There was no partial refund for missing out on a bigger room, extra TV, refrigerator, couch, and a balcony. I was given room 108 which is...

The hotel is wonderful. The rooms are nice, but small. I had a room over the courtyard and it was quiet, but it was also raining, so I can understand how if there were people about it would be noisy. The location is perfect, walking distance to lots of restaurants and the marina. My largest complaint is that there is...

We stayed in the Horton Grand for two nights. The hotel is a beautiful building and has a real historic heritage feel. Its in a great location in in the heart of the gas lamp quarter. The hotel has a valet service. On arrive at the hotel we found the check in process to be a tad on the painful...

Positives first: - unbeatable location - historic hotel with heritage - friendly staff So why the 2 stars? Because all the noise of the world floats through. From the corridors and the indoor patio - there is no sound isolation whatsoever. If I stay in a hotel then I expect some basic fundaments - quiet surroundings being one of them....

1. When was the last time you stayed at Victorian designed hotel, within easy walking distance of a major convention center, a major league baseball park and dozens of restaurants? 2. My wife was in town to attend a professional business convention, being held at a nearby hotel.  We had to find a room elsewhere as that hotel wanted $300+...

The Horton Grand is such a lovely hotel. We only stayed one night, but we had a great visit and great accommodations. The staff was courteous and extremely helpful. We accidentally left one of our daughter's toys there that she's had for 10 years, she was totally disappointed...We called 3 days later and they found it! We were ecstatic to...

We came in here on our first night in San Diego, and ended up coming back two more times for drinks and food. Came in just before ten on New Years Eve, and managed to get some very acceptable bar food - which rather saved our evening! Hotel bar staff were very friendly, and helpful. Reasonable cocktails (are all US...

The rooms are true to the historical period with a working fireplace in every room, antiques and furniture characteristic of the late 1800's time period. Lovely wood paneled bar with split stairway going to the next floor. Tables outside the front on the corner of 4th & Island so actually in the Gaslamp area and can walk everywhere. Great moderately...

The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Meeting people in the atrium lobby furnished with antiques was fun. The location in the Gaslamp District was fun. We had not understood how vibrant San Diego is these days. (The Fluxx nightclub was not open during our stay, so noise from there was not an issue.) The room in the older part...

I stayed here over a year ago in October and it was great! I had a nice, quiet room and a good experience. I just stayed there last week and had a completely different experience. Our room was right over the bar and there was a wedding finishing up and it was SUPER loud until the bar stopped serving at...
