We had a great 2 night stay at the Horton. When we checked in we learned we had been upgraded to a suite. It was wonderfully spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was excellent and the sitting room was a great place to relax. Happy hour at the bar was very pleasant. The hotel was... More

The hotel is an old historic building , with noisy air conditionig , noisy ceilings when people walk over your head , very small and old bathrooms , you can hear people talking in the corridors !! Cleaning of the room allways late !But for us , the biggest problem was the unfriendly , arrogant staff at front desk !... More

Being a budget-minded business traveler, I rarely stay in a boutique hotel. Since the conference I was attending was onsite, however, I elected to stay at this property. While the facility provided nice common space, the room itself was was essentially a closet with a window overlooking an alley. Furnished with antiques, it smelled like old wood coated with furniture... More

A great hotel in the Gaslamp district! Booked 2 rooms for my husband's birthday and they were both unexepectedly charming! No two rooms are the same. You feel like you have been taken back in time with copper pipes and a pull chain for the toilet and a fireplace (every room has one) for a comfy feel. The views from... More

We had a lovely 1 week stay in room 313 recently. This room overlooked the courtyard, although not much was visible from the balcony as a large tree obscured the view. This did not take away from the room though. It was nicely furnished with antiques and included a gas fireplace. The bathroom even had an old elevated pull chain... More

Located in the historical Gaslamp quarter of San Diego, this hotel is a 5- to 10-minute walk to the waterfront and 20 minutes from the Maritime Museum. If you are unable to walk, taxi fare to the beach area is about $6. Concierge parking is available. The staff were accommodating and welcoming. The restaurant was good and we were able... More

Another nice stay at the Ol' Horton Grand. Had King balcony room on 2nd floor overlooking the courtyard. Room very clean and passing our bathroom hair test with flying colors. Bed just comfortable enough for good night's sleep. Not a high tech bed, but comfortable. Would hope they upgrade the bed with ongoing hotel upgrades. Plenty of nice pillows and... More

We attended a convention but enjoyed being able to leave the huge venue and get back to our sanctuary: The Horton Grand. Our rooms were in the older section, clean, comfortable, charming. The restaurant and bar were both good, staff offered friendly service throughout the hotel. Now, this hotel is older, not glamorous, not glitzy, but offers a nice, comfortable and... More

I picked the hotel from the pictures I saw on line and it did not disappoint me. The hotel is so cute from the big beautiful glass windows, the antique furniture, the woodwork in the stairs and bar, and even the old fashioned toliets with the chain to flush. I immediately got onto Facebook and told all my friends that... More

Stayed here while attending a conference at the SD Convention Center. Felt like a great deal at $150/night, but you may be disappointed if you pay more. The hotel is charming, especially if you request a room in the front/courtyard. Perfectly comfortable, clean, safe, and an easy & pleasant walk to the convention center and waterfront. Staff friendly and helpful.... More
