My wife and I, along with my oldest daughter and her husband stayed at Ocean Park last week. We had rooms next to each other on the 3rd floor with ocean views (which I recommend). Naturally we're in the midst of covid restrictions and all that implies. Having said that... The rooms were great! A lot of thought has gone into even small details of the room design. One of those small details is the light switch on each side of the bed is easy to reach and you don't have to go searching for an outlet for your phone charger. As a matter of fact, the outlets have 2 USB ports. There was a refrigerator in our room. There was also a pull-out couch. The shower pressure wasn't going to penetrate your skin, but was adequate. Compliments of covid, you have to go down to the desk to order new towels to be delivered to your room. That isn't exclusive to this hotel -- that's standard operating procedure these days. The 'continental' breakfast consisted of a sealed paper bag with an apple, orange, a bottle of water and something else. The desk has them and you have to ask for it. They also have discounts for military and old farts like myself. Everyone, from the manager to the other desk personnel were very friendly. There is a 7-11 and other stores easily within walking distance from the hotel. The parking will cost you $20.00 per day. It's in an underground parking garage and you can load your luggage and take it up the elevator. The view of the ocean and the sound of the ocean when you leave your patio door open is outstanding. Unfortunately the sound of the local homeless population is something we contended with. Beginning early in the morning they are loud (and sometimes profane). They homestead along the wall below. They can be entertaining at times however. One guy we referred to as, 'Captain Jack Sparrow' had a pirate hat, a red cape and black boots like you would wear to a costume party. When we mentioned it to hotel management they said to be sure to contact them when that happens and they will call the police to deal with it. Might want to keep that in mind. Most of the local 'entertainment' are pretty non-intrusive. They pretty much keep to themselves and don't do cat calls at your wife and daughters. They didn't do any cat calls or whistle at me either. I may not have been there type. Seriously, aside from the early morning noise (I can only assume they are all mostly deaf and that's why they have to yell when they talk), they weren't much of a factor. There are beachside shops all along the walkway to shop at. Fun to shop at. The bottom line is, the next time we visit San Diego you can bet we'll be staying at Ocean Park Inn if available. If not for the noisy early morning chatter I would have given them a 5 rating. I will enclose some photos. Keep in mind the room was much neater before we started to 'live' in it. It's much nicer than the photos of the room would suggest.

Hi twep! Thank you for your fantastic review of our property and the local area. It's a pleasure to read how the little details (such as USB ports) impacted your stay in a positive manner. The ongoing pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to the hotel industry as a whole, but it a sincere delight to see our guests come in and still enjoy their stays with us despite everything going on in the world. We hope to see you and your family on your next visit to Pacific Beach! Best Regards, Erica E. Front Office Supervisor

Hotel's Favorite
I often research tons of hotels by location, price, previous reviews, etc. Ocean Park Inn grabbed my attention initially due to it's location and price. But the reason I will return is because of the people who work there, my "actual" personal experience, and the memories I'm able to make. First off, Pat (from the front desk) helped me from beginning to end. In fact, he was so helpful and guest-oriented that I decided to get another room for the same trip to surprise my son for his birthday. Pat helped me arrange payment, kept our surprise, worked with my son's girlfriend to get them checked in, and placed us incredible rooms where we were able to enjoy 2 nights of celebrating in 2 rooms (with awesome "partial" views) in the amazing PB area with friends and family. The renovated rooms were so fresh, clean and perfect for the beach. The location is unbeatable. The price was awesome and I do hope they stay this way even after the renovation. My cousin and I enjoyed the quick and simple continental breakfast and coffee. My goddaughter who visited for a few hours enjoyed the pool. You've got to check out their aquarium. It's unbelievable. We were able to get food and cocktails from the many walkable locations and some necessities (and an ATM) at the 7-eleven across the street. I forgot to take pics of the inside of the rooms but they look exactly like the pictures on their website. I did get pics of both views from the King partial view and 2 Queens partial view. In the evening we explored the vibrant board walk. We felt so lucky to have this violinist outside the hotel which drew us all out to witness the beautiful sunset. I would highly recommend this hotel...and if you're lucky, Pat will be there to help you. (I did get to meet Erica briefly as well as I checked out, and Manny helped me with parking - and they too were a delight - but Pat just went above and beyond and I can't say enough about how he truly made our trip)...Thank you to all...and we will definitely be back.

I've been to Pacific beach many times but never this hotel. I had a third story ocean view room. Perfect location and view. Room is really nicely decorated and front desk staff are super-friendly and helpful. Great value for location, room, and view. I'll definitely stay there again.

We were on a 3 night Covid getaway to San Diego. Originally my husband wanted to stay in Little Italy or the Gaslamp area but after reading a lot of TA reviews I felt Pacific Beach might be better for access to outdoor restaurants. When researching PB on TA, I considered Blue Sea Inn, Beach cottages, Crystal Pier cottages and Ocean Park Inn. We could not have been happier with our choice and we loved our room #321, partial ocean, 2 queen beds. It was very comfortable and wonderfully decorated. The front desk staff was very helpful and the underground parking is so convenient. We did not take advantage of the grab and go bag for breakfast. Since there was no maid service, we had no problem asking for more coffee supplies for the Keurig. Our first morning we enjoyed walking for two hours south, about 6 miles roundtrip, along the boardwalk. Suggest going early as it gets busy with bikes, runners, walkers (and not all with masks for Covid). Our first night we enjoyed dinner right across the street at the PB Alehouse, upstairs on their patio. The second night we enjoyed Backyard Kitchen and Tap in their patio area. The last night we had an unfortunate and uncomfortable dinner at Amplified Ale (see my review). During our stay we enjoyed outdoor visits to Stone Brewing in Escondido, Belching Beaver in Vista, and Ballast Point Miramar. As a little aside, we were glad we stayed during the week as Friday night was considerably more crazy (early November) and did not feel very Covid safe.

We had a 3rd floor ocean front corner room, so it had a side window as well as the small balcony. Room was pretty small but bright and remodeled. Brand new bathroom/shower. Comfortable queen bed. Huge oversized chair that turned into a bed. Chair was the only seating in room. Small closet with 6 hangers, safe and a mini fridge. There were only 3 drawers to put clothes in and two night stands that also had small drawers. Bag breakfast available containing a bottle of water, apple, cutie orange, small muffin and granola bar. Yes there are homeless people hanging on the boardwalk. This is not the hotels fault. Just look past that and people watch all the others that walk the boardwalk. The hotel was nice, staff nice, pool nice, rooms nice, location nice, view nice. The in out parking garage below the hotel was a huge plus.
