Perfect location: beach across the street, restaurants across the street and many others nearby, the swimming pool is heated, room was clean and roomy. We upgraded to an ocean view room and glad we did! Very nice hotel! We had room on second floor but the elevator was not working - it was fixed by the next day. The breakfast was good: make your own waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, breads, yogurt and cereal. Only drawback was the smell of marijuana from people walking on the promenade.
Yes, that is a long time to stay in any hotel, but we did 10 nights at Ocean Park Inn, then stayed in San Clemente for 3 and then finished with 2 more at Ocean Park Inn. We had consistently great service and and clean, clean rooms and common areas (including pool) over all of these days. Jerry leads a great housekeeping team and they truly want to get it right and make the best experience for guests. It is a tough job and near impossible to keep a beach front hotel clean and crisp, but they work hard at it and I think are the best in the business. All staff are friendly and work hard through the days. After so many days you notice that they consistently do it well, and it is a fairly large team across check-in, maintenance, kitchen and housekeeping to make it all hum along. Joanna was awesome for breakfast hours and food is hot and abundant. Jennifer in check in helped us all along the way and handled so many requests and questions with ease. I wasn’t sure I would like the valet service as I like to have access and control over my vehicle, but the team was fast and friendly and made the trip easier. This is not a budget hotel and it commands a premium by location alone. You are beachfront and have the convenience of running to your room in minutes and bare feet as you wish or enjoy the heated clean pool and tub and people watch the boardwalk. For us, this reality is so much better than hotels or vrbo that are across a street and away from the beach. Pacific beach is not quiet and nightlife is loud. But the trade off is you blend into the mix of the daily life of the beach and boardwalk, and that is an awesome vacation rhythm for our family.…
There were two great things…the staff were very kind and the third floor view of the ocean. BUT we had no elevator for the majority of our stay and we were on the 3rd floor. We were not offered a discounted rate. The majority of plugs and USB ports in room cannot be used. The breakfast…waffles and bacon great…eggs horrible and the same everyday. Valet service has good employees. The swimming pool was very hot and needed to be cooler than the hot tub so no relief there. They did provide boogie boards for the ocean waves which was good. The view is definitely great but the promenade is very noisy at night and even during the day with very bad guitar music that caused us to have to close our balcony door and drowned out the ocean sounds. All in all 3 stars because I feel it was way over priced for the quality of the hotel and breakfast and no working elevator for we third floor customers but I would give 5 stars to the staff.…
was hard to comprehend that there was no urgency to fix your elevator the two days I stayed in the hotel. I had a stress fracture in my left foot and had to use the stairs to take my luggage down the stairs, very frustrating.
Best hotel in Pacific Beach San Diego. The location, personality of the hotel, cleanliness, and to top it off parking and a delicious breakfast. Absolutely will be staying here again. The rooms were clean and gave the perfect surf vibe. The breakfast was hot and fresh. The location was perfect for the beach, brunch, and all the bars/restaurants. Couldn’t be happier.
I was really excited to stay here based on the amazing reviews. I've got to say, I spent the whole trip kind of confused… I rented 2 oceanfront rooms and spent quite a bit for them, so I really expected more. They have absolutely no business charging what they do. My biggest issue- There is one elevator for the entire hotel. When we arrived, the elevator was working. So at least we didn't have to drag our luggage up 3 flights of stairs… but by the time we showered and picked a place for dinner, it was "out of service". And it remained out of service for 4 days. I have asthma and bad knees, so for me it was absolutely hell to come back to my room every day. We could have moved to a first floor room, where the only real view would be people and tents. But since the view is the main draw of this hotel, I think I would have lost my mind thinking about the money I was throwing away. To be fair, the manager was apologetic and gave a small discount for the inconvenience. Also a problem- The water pressure in the shower is pretty bad, and it takes forever to heat up. Things could definitely be cleaner. The rooms are acceptable, but I noticed a fair amount of stains on the furniture and the hallways had sections that seemed really dirty. It is LOUD at night on the weekend. If you're watching tv it's not horrible, but if you're trying to read or sleep it is very disruptive. The pool and hot tub are tiny. If there is anyone else using them, you will feel uncomfortable. Hot breakfast is offered, but it's not great. The waffles, bacon, and muffins were basically all we ate here after the first day. Bottom line- the view is great, and several of the staff are very nice (the valets especially were all awesome). But the negatives far outweigh the positives. If they charged about $200 less per night I wouldn't have been quite so upset, but with the price I paid I left feeling very ripped off.…
We stay here every year for over 10 years. It is the best option by far for the area. The rooms are well decorated & comfortable. Plenty of restaurants & a grocery store across the street. Right next to the lifeguard station. The nearby pier is fun to visit. Many options to rent bikes or surf lessons very close & convenient. Nice shallow ocean there for quite some distance, good for playing & boarding. Waves are fun but not severe. Secure parking area is a plus. Right on the beach with no stairs.
Our stay at the Ocean Park Inn has been a blast. Incredible view and location, a few steps from the beach, with a jacuzzi and a swimming pool on the way. People are very nice and welcoming. Rooms are very comfortable, with nice views on the ocean. Breakfast is very good. In short, best hotel.
This is one of the best places I have stayed very nice super clean looking forward to next year trip so closed to all the food places bed room were very nice and the patio view was amazing and breakfast was so good the only thing I wish they gave free water next time I would bring my own
Amazing hotel, clean, friendly and in a perfect location. Nice hot breakfast, comfortable bed. Definitely will return!. Not one issue with the hotel. Clean pool and also right on the ocean. Near night life but quiet indoors!
