We paid a lot of money for what we got. When we first checked in the line was super long, which we were expecting since we got there at the check-in hour. What we were not expecting was having to wait in a very long line for the elevators. They have three elevators but only two were working. We thought it would get better once the check-in rush stopped, but no, it was the same issue the whole weekend. Once we got to our room we inspected it to make sure it was ok. Well it wasn’t. There was a dirty towel on the balcony and stains on the shower floor. I went downstairs and they were accommodating and moved us to another room. The other room was ok upon initial inspection. It wasn’t until later that we noticed the really loud A/C. Every time it would turn on and off it made a loud rattling noise. We tried to set it to stay on but that wasn’t an option. Our room was not cleaned the next morning and we ran out of toilet paper. They didn’t have an extra roll in the restroom. I had to call to get some. When I called I was on hold for like 5 minutes. We got a knock on our door & they tried to deliver pillows instead of toilet paper. So we had to wait longer for it. We also found a bug, not sure what kind, in the couch which we got rid of. Other issues: the ice machine was not working, the pool restrooms were disgusting. I get the water on the floor but there was no toilet seat covers, paper on the floor, & only one stall had toilet paper. There was vomit near the pool as well.

We are currently staying here and I can say I am really unimpressed. To start, when we arrived there was no one there to greet the guests or even tell them where to park their cars. This resulted in several cars just randomly being parked in all directions at the entrance. Then we went to check in. We asked if there was a luggage cart available and the front desk employee’s response was “I don’t know, if there aren’t any around the corner then there aren’t any”. So we went and looked around the corner and there were none there. So we then asked if they had any idea when another one would be free. They gentlemen responded “No but maybe you could look around on the floors and see if anyone left one by their door”. This was a pretty odd response.... We had our car full as we just got back from a vacation. So we then took three trips full of luggage from our car to our room. We got to the room and we had booked a “city view room with a balcony”. That apparently meant a room on the second floor with a view of the parking lot where the balcony is a Juliette balcony and unuseable. Seems pretty dishonest to me. That night we ordered take out (not from the hotel). They restaurant forgot to give us utensils or napkins so we asked the front desk. They said “‘maybe you should go look in the gift shop maybe there are some in there”. This is in contrast to the Marriott San Jose we stayed in two days before where the same thing happened and the lady at the front desk personally delivered cutlery, bowls, plates and napkins to our room. This Marriott in Mission Valley just isn’t up to Marriott standards. The service is terrible and the staff just doesn’t care. It really shouldn’t even have the Marriott name. I hope one day maybe post Covid the staff is re-trained and this hotel gets to where it could be. On a positive note - the renovation of the rooms was great. They have these awesome looking laminate floors in the rooms and the decor is nice. Overall though, this place was a huge disappointment.

Stayed here in June with the family. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Dennis, the manager, who was very pleasant. He gave us tips of where to eat and places to visit during our stay. He really takes care of the guests and cinversing with him makes for am enjoyable experience. The two gentleman in the restaurant/bar area - I believe their names were Diego and Jaime were personable as well, and were delightful to talk to too as well. Breakfast was freshly made each morning and was delicious. Hotel was clean, and being in the "city" it is close to many attractions.

Being targeted for theft and unhelpful staff. I got in late and left my bike on the bike rack. By the next morning it was gone, and the lock had been cut with bolt cutters. I was parked inside the paid parking garage, and the area is mostly commercial, so that means people are coming to look for property to take. Staff saw it, and no one suggested I bring it it or offered to help store it inside. Instead the manager told me they couldn't have known I was going to leave the bike on the rack, and that I should have just known because of signs saying to keep valuables inside the room safe.

I like this location, having lived several years in SD. The employees were very helpful. Special shout out to Ana at the front desk (if not manager in training, should be a manager!). Ana was always courteous and knew my name. The manager Dennis the day of my arrival was also very courteous and helpful. Dennis made sure I had a great room with a great view. These 2 people made me feel welcome and my stay very pleasant. Entire property was very nice. Thanks again Dennis, and especially Ana. As a Marriott platinum elite member, I can say Ana is the type of helpful employee every customer hopes to have to help with their inquires.
