Great experience at this hotel. The rooms were spotless and modern with nice views and the customer service was great. I didn't visit any of the restaurants, but the service at the bar was good. Check in and check out were seamless.
Wry nice Hotel on the water/marina. This is a busy conference type hotel which can be a downside if your on vacation. The pool area is great with a couple of hot tubs and outside bar. The gym is decent with machines and treadmills. Several on-site places to eat as well all of which were good.
I attempted to check out one day early due to a family member’s surgery being moved up and was told I would be charged $400. I was told “everyone has some kind of an emergency.” I was given a business card of the Director of the front desk with his email address and told to email the director. I did 3 times and every time it was returned undeliverable. When I asked for a valid email address I was given one different than what was on HIS business card. I emailed that address and again it was undeliverable. Is that what Marriott has devolved into—giving fake email addresses and the run around in attempt to avoid helping customers. Marriot charges a $400. early check out fee and when you attempt to speak with management they give you the run around with fake email address and a phone number no on answers?…
I stayed here for a conference. On check-out I asked for an itemised bill from the restaurant which I needed for an expense claim where I hosted a large dinner. They told me that they were too busy and will forward the breakdown later. Well they didn't, despite multiple requests. So having wasted a large amount of time I am still out of pocket for several hundred dollars, because the Marriot couldn't be bothered to provide an itemised bill. I stay at many hotels on conferences around the world and vacations but have never been treated so badly ever. I was a Marriott Bonvoy member but wont be staying at a Marriott ever again if this is the service one can expect
Came here on Saturday only to learn that they charge a $35 resort fee (which includes $15 dinging credits) but restaurants either close early or run out of food options. Bonvoy elites typically get access to lounge but they only only don’t offer any food but also close the entire lounge down, so you can’t even get water from fridge. They don’t bother providing breakfast either. If you wish to enjoy the perks being a Marriott Bonvoy elite, avoid this overpriced property.
I stayed here for a work conference and then extended my stay for a few more days for vacation. It was a great stay and they set me up with a nice room at the corner with 2 balconies - a great view of the pool and marina, and then the other balcony had a nice view of downtown San Diego and of the rail road tracks. The pool was nice along with the spa area. The staff are very friendly and I really liked Sam the shoeshine man. He was a pleasure to speak to.
I’ve been wanting to stay at this hotel for a while and maybe my expectations were set high as it is a Marquis Hotel after all. Though we had a high floor at 2302 with a view of the bay and the battleships, we were disappointed how small the room felt and even smaller, the toilet. I mean I’ve had bigger bathrooms in Tokyo. The room was very clean but it was adjacent to the suite and we could literally hear their conversation which annoyed us tremendously. With a vast resort I expected more dining choices and they only had one restaurant open and the food we ate was…so so. Hey we’ve always dated Marriott’s burgers as the best but McDonalds tasted better. There was Roy’s but only for dinner and it was always booked. Because this weekend was wet and very cold we wanted to eat at the hotel. Starbucks was open only in the morning. And that lobby? Did I just enter a Marriott Courtyard? As I walk by the Grand Hyatt next door I realized they were the real Marquis in the area. Sorry Marriott you failed us this time. Don’t even get me started with their self park garage…what garage? Not sure why I need to keep my Good Elite status……
We stayed at this hotel for one week in early February 2023. I was going back and forth between hotels but ultimately decided on the Marriott Marquis due to the location. Paying close to $4000 for a City View with a balcony for one week, I was expecting at least above average. The room itself looked exactly as it had in photos (renovated, bright, overall pretty) however it was the small things that made me question our choice in hotels, especially at the cost: -The outlet in the bathroom near the vanity light was not working. It looked like it was unfinished because it was slightly sticking off the wall and there was plastic filled in where you would insert the electrical prongs. So if you need to dry your hair or use a styling tool in front of the vanity mirror in the bathroom, you are out of luck. I ended up using the outlet near the bed and set up a makeshift mirror area. -Light in bathroom is on sensor. The first night I was taking a shower and all of a sudden it was pitch black. I pushed the shower curtain back immediately and then the light went back on. -Toilet is low water pressure due to energy saving which is great in thought but not pleasant when you have to flush the toilet multiple times. -Tray was missing in coffee maker. I asked to have it replaced and nothing was ever done. So I had no in room coffee for our entire stay. Yes, we couls go to Starbucks however there were mornings where I just didn't want to go down from the room. I am not one to complain and I had read the previous negative reviews thinking that reviewer was just trying to point out the negatives. Now I know that's not true. Thr Marriott was a disappointment and at $4000 for one week I was expecting more. At that cost we should really have stayed at another luxury resort or hotel. Would not stay here again.…
I love the scenery and the shopping and the beaches, different varieties of restaurants to choose from and the walks is just beautiful. I wanna go back their cause I have family that resides in San Diego will be going their for her birthday which is in April
Best part of this hotel are all the amenities and the staff. A special shout-out to the amazing, cool Bell Desk guys Allen L. and Larry, who perform miracles, love their jobs, and love guests. The amenities we loved were the fitness center, pool garden, huge gift shop with everything you may need or crave, and having a Starbucks right there. We also loved the convention atmosphere with so many happy people from everywhere. This place is huge, so there are lots of people all over the place. The downside of the hotel, and why we can’t give it 5 stars, is that it is definitely not worth the price point—the rooms are just OK even though recently renovated (strange bathroom layout, where the sink is outside the toilet area, separated by a door—so imagine how disgustingly unhygienic that doorknob is with the family going to the bathroom and having to touch the doorknob BEFORE washing hands; what architect designed that😵?) and cheapo coffee maker for this $ level of a hotel). Three-star design at five-star prices.…
