The Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego garners mixed reviews, with its standout location earning high marks for proximity to popular districts like Seaport Village and the Gaslamp Quarter. Despite the praise for its attentive service and the occasional commendation for cleanliness, guests have called out the hotel for its overpriced nature, particularly noting costly parking and additional fees.
While the amenities and views are often appreciated, some travelers argue that the rooms require modernization and better soundproofing to mitigate noise disturbances.

Detailed Reviews
This was a wonderful hotel; much better than we expected. The lobby is awesome and beautiful; the rooms were large and comfortable. What really made this hotel stand out to us over its beauty and great location, however, was the extraordinary service from literally every employee we encountered. Each one was eager to assist and was sure to ask "is there anything else?" before leaving. While here, I had a very bad injury (not acquired on the property!) and thus required more assistance than usual. As a result, I probably had more people coming to my room than the average guest, and I cannot say enough about how kind and helpful everyone was. In fact, they were able to offer help and assistance that I wouldn't have even considered had they not offered or suggested. Our favorite part of our room was the versatile couchlike-furniture in front of the large window with an incredible view (part city, part water, best of both worlds). The triangle shaped "pillows" allowed the guest to configure the "couch" or whatever it was in the most comfortable way, and depending on which direction view I wanted to see. One morning I was sitting there reading and a seagull stopped and stayed on my windowsill for the longest time (we were on one of the upper floors). Just an incredible experience and I'd love to return again. My only complaint was the horrible room service prices/charges. I think I ended up paying about $26 for a yogurt parfait and an icky commercial (Dole?) bottled orange juice. I ordered room service because it was too painful to walk to the breakfast area. I prepared myself for the next breakfast by purchasing something elsewhere the night before so I could just eat something in my room without the exorbitant fee.

We appreciate you taking the time to write us an incredible review. Thank for your confidence in our team, and it brings us great joy to hear that every staff you encountered made your stay very pleasurable and welcoming. I enjoy hearing personal stories, and to hear that you had a nice morning with a book in your hand and had a lovely visitor (seagull) keep you company on your windowsill, put a smile on my face. We appreciate your feedback on the room service fees and we will forward your feedback to management. We hope that this does not deter you from visiting us, again. We look forward to your next stay with us and please let us know when you will be returning to San Diego as we want to continue making your stay even more memorable.

Stayed for a recent convention center event. This hotel was conveniently placed and easy to walk to and from the convention center each day. The lobby was beautiful and the staff were very friendly. My room was accompanied by a wonderful view of the seaport (you can see USS Midway from some of the rooms). I didn't have time to go test any hotel facilities but they looked well maintained other guests seemed to enjoy themselves.
The restaurants were more a mixed bag. On the one hand the pub (Brew30) was amazing. It was perhaps the best food I found within a half mile of the convention center in the five days I was there and also as good or better value for money than any restaurant I tried (<$20 most meals). The Seaview breakfast buffet was overpriced (~$30 for a single breakfast) and mediocre quality of food (though the offerings were expansive and the staff very accomodating) You'd be better off walking to find breakfast anywhere else near the convention center as the price will be lower (almost regardless of what you order) and the quality higher than what you get here. Still, if you do want to visit I can at least attest that the wait staff are friendly and eager to help you find/get anything you seek. Beyond that the arrangement of the food (if aesthetic is important to you) was almost artistically considered. By far the most beautiful buffet I've visited, even if it was too pricey and only average quality.

I`ll come back because this is the most convient place to stay while I visit San Diego.
I have a relatve living 1 hour close to Grand Hyatt. They told me I can choose this hotel .
It is close to the downtown where we can walk there very easily. When we need some stuffs
,we can go to the Market street to have shopping. This time we also attend the Rotary International
assembly. I found the meeting rooms are plenty and equipements are adequate for us. My wife is satisfied about the facility. However we dislike the idea of charging mineral water though we didn`t get charged. My friends live in the room at the same interval was charged the bottle water by the check out clerk of desk. They`re not comfortable about this. I suggest the authority to discuss about this policy. The 5 star hotel usually provide free mineral water for 2. Thank you.

This is a huge facility where you easily can get lost; they are 2 huge towers with the front desk in between and you need to walk from one to the other if you wish to sport, or have your breakfast....
Rooms are clean and bathroom is basic; still those hotel with carpet on the floor...
Breakfast is expensive and you will need to pay extra if you want fresh orange juice; internet is on purchase as well.
Staff if overstressed
Facility is noisy

Very happy with our recent trip at the Grand Hyatt!
Great location and views of the pier from the room! Hotel was within walking distance to many local restaurants and shopping. Lobby marketplace also had everything you could possibly want- coffee, meals, snacks and alcohol.
Room was very clean! Check in and check out were able to be done on app, room was marked sanitized along with remotes, employees and building had guidelines to follow. We will defiantly be back next time were in San Diego!

During our vacation this last week, this was the third Hyatt property we stayed at during our ride down the coast.
This is a huge convention hotel that is magnificent from the outside and in the lobby area. After that, not so much.
The room we stayed in was a corner room, with great views of San Diego. Unfortunately, the windows are so dirty on the outside, it is very difficult to enjoy the beauty of the bay.
The blackout shades are terribly torn up and need replacing. Bed was comfortable. We called down to front desk many times for extra towels, shampoo, body wash and coffee. Some tools have Kuerig coffee makers, but ours did not; so getting coffee refills were difficult.
Good news is there are so many restaurants within walking distance, it is easy to find dining options. Only a snack market is open in the hotel.
The pool area is expansive, although the pool did not seem overly cleaned. The entire pool deck needs to be refinished as paint peeling and holes everywhere.
We feel bad as this is a beautiful building that needs some major work on the property. Unfortunately, with no convention business anytime soon, we don’t foresee any dollars to rehab the property.
All Covid protocols are being followed here.
Kudos to Basel, the lone front desk employee, who was very professional and charming.

Stay for a convention. Staff was friendly, sent up extra coffee for in room coffee maker when requested. Never got fresh towels during 4 night stay-they ask you to not get daily towels because of a water shortage, but the door rage says you’ll get them after 3-never got towels or maid service of any kind.
Spectacular view, great location, but location pricey for a smallish room with no maid service.

I generally enjoyed my stay at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego. This is a great location right next to the Seaport Village and it is walking distance to the water and to the Gaslamp district. Views from my 32nd floor room were spectacular!
Note that I have previously stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Macao and feel I can use those for comparison purposes.
Checkin Process: Excellent. The lobby is nice. The staff member helping me was friendly, remembered my anniversary, and was helpful in providing details on various aspects of my room and parking.
Room: Underwhelming. As mentioned earlier, the views in my room were incredible. The issue I had was that the room, amenities, decor, and furnishings were no different compared to a Hyatt place or Hampton Inn. The room was relatively small, the double beds barely fit my teenage kids, and the bathroom was just meh. The beds (both of them) were soft, the bedsheets and duvet covers were standard hotel issue. Aside from the views, the room had no wow factor.
Food: I did not dine at this location, however I was provided with a $10 daily stipend for use at the pantry located by the lobby. Although the selection was good, the prices were exorbitant (e.g. $2 for one hard boiled egg, $5 for cup of noodles). Just sufficient for 2 coffees.
This is a popular high-rent district so you have to level set your expectations on pricing. Don't forget that parking is $40/night and the spaces are for compact cars.

I stayed at the Hyatt for a conference in January. When I checked in, I was told my room was not ready (I was early) but I could upgrade for $10 more for a room that was ready. It was worth it in my opinion. This location is great since it is within walking distance to many activities. The conference facilities did not disappoint. I received prompt responses to service requests as well.

While the hotel property is beautiful, I found this hotel filled with a lot of small issues which really made my trip unpleasant. The pros consisted of a quick check in process, and a beautiful view of the harbor. The cons - where do I begin, self parking was a nightmare, the parking spots were too small for even the compact cars even though they were designated as such. Most cars had to take up two parking spaces and because they had events each night I was there I had trouble finding an actual parking spot. There was always a wait for the elevators. I understand only 4 could fit at a time, but the wait was so bad most guess were ignoring the signs and packed on the elevators just to get to their floors. The mask guidelines were not enforced, even though there were signs posted through out the hotel people were legit on the elevators with no mask.. The room walls were so thin I could here the people next-door pulling up their blinds and I could hear their kids screaming. The shower In my room didn't appear throughly cleaned as I found hair in the shower and the shower could've used some mildew cleaner as the shower had a lot of mildew stains. The pillows and towels could have used a replacement as the towels felt like sandpaper and the pillows sunk as soon as my head touched them.

No airport shuttle, we took uber for 12 bucks at the time.
I believe all of them do. My colleagues and I were booked on different floors, and we all had the same layout of bathroom, walk-in showers.
