Nestled in a prime location, Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine is lauded for its convenient access to local attractions and amenities such as a pool and fitness center, although parking fees seem to be a point of contention. While guests frequently commend the hotel for its cleanliness and inviting atmosphere, especially in communal areas like the lobby, opinions on the rooms and service vary; some describe the accommodations as modern and others as needing an update, and service experiences range from friendly to disorganized.

This is a much stay while visiting La Jolla. Staff and hotel were amazing. Rooms were very clean and was a very comfortable stay. Location was close to Torrey Pines and great restaurants and shopping close by.Will stay here again in the future.

Lovely pool and recreational facilities but rooms are outdated and service is lacking. The pool facilities are lovely - heated pool and really warm jacuzzi. There are kids activities on the weekend which are really nice. However, I would not stay there again. The room we were given had a large rust stain on the bathtub and when we touched the window a piece of a fixture which had clearly already been broken fell down (clearly had been perched there to avoid fixing it). The toiletries provided in the shower included one tiny shampoo bottle and 2 tiny body wash bottles (we booked a room for 2 adults and 2 kids). When I asked for a new room the receptionist offered to comp the parking ($30 per day) which was nice but the new room provided was not much better than the first - down a floor and with a little less rust on the bathtub. The fridge didn’t work although the engineer who was sent to fix it was great and fixed it quickly. Unacceptable given the price we paid. Also we stayed at another Hyatt Regency in another city just prior to this stay (for 1/2 the price) and the facility and service were exceptional - it was a big contrast to what we experienced at Hyatt Regency La Jolla.

We have stayed at Hyatt Regency Avantine in La Jolla on 3 or 4 occasions as our grandson was at UCSD. This most recent trip was for his graduation, and we were disappointed for the first time with the property. We understand that the hotel is just getting out of COVID protocol, but housekeeping was non existent. On three night stays they were supposed to service the room at least once, but housekeeping never entered the room during our entire three night stay. The trash was never picked up and the used towels piled up. We did manage to “borrow” a few towels from a housekeeping cart in the hallway to get our through the stay.

Also, the in-room safe was inoperable and the light in the room hallway was out. In addition, the toilets are the power flush variety, and if you flush them at night you wake up everyone in your room.

The Hyatt is at a great location and top notch restaurant are just steps away. However, until they are able to take better care of the room, it makes for an uncomfortable stay. As a World of Hyatt member, I would hope that they can remedy their issues quickly and efficiently.

Room Tip: Valet parking is expensive, but they also charge for self parking, but at least it is convenient.

I think it is fair to say Covid has affected all our travel routines - so it is very nice to be able to say that this property did a whole lot right for a perfect stay. Very responsive for the type of room that I requested. The staff was extremely friendly, including during any requests for towels or room service (the room service was especially friendly and fast). The pool is fantastic so I will always want to go back just for the ability to enjoy a real lap swim. Half the pool is lap swim and half is for kids to play in a socially distanced way. The new TV's are great in the room, large, good quality, and I can cast anything I want to watch. And their new (branded I think) bed is very comfortable.

I booked the Hyatt Regency La Jolla as my husband and I come here for a full health screening at a medical centre nearby every 2 years. We checked in at 6.15pm and I asked front desk if I could pay for a late check out at 3pm the next day since our medical was at 7am in the morning and lasts 6 hours and we could not make the 11am check out time. I did not think this would be a big deal since check in time for the next guest is 4pm. She said she will check with the manager and came back out and told us the manager said that it was not possible as the hotel was running full! Feeling a little lost at what to do, we checked in, went up to our room and I got on the phone to chat with Jessica, the Front Office Manager. I explained our situation and asked if she could make an exception for me to pay for the room till 2pm so I can come back and have a quick shower before we leave for our long drive back to Los Angeles and was refused. The reason being, the hotel is running full and she “cannot put the team through this situation”. She then added that I could check out early (this would be at 6.30am in the morning for me) and left my bags at the front desk and there would be somewhere I could have a shower in the hotel when I got back from my screening at 1pm. She put me on hold for a bit and came back and said, that the facility by the pool is closed at the moment and so she cannot offer that service now. She then said she would give me complimentary check out till 12pm. (Why would I need that as my screening finishes at 1pm!) Needless to say I told her I am truly disappointed that she is not concerned with my inconvenience and rather the inconvenience of her team. My question is, if check in time is 4pm, why can’t I check out at 2pm as the next guest is only coming at 4pm. Is my inconvenience not worth a little effort from the hotel? Surely a hotel with so many rooms have capable hands to manage 3 hours for their guest. Although the studio suite we booked at USD$516.18 a night was really nice, I am not planning to come back to this hotel.

A corner room on a high floor was not available as requested when my wife and I arrived. Instead, we were given a room with a rumbling air conditioner. We called the front desk and were told to bring ourselves and our luggage back down to the front desk. Finally, we were given a room that was very clean. We even received maid service nightly even though a card in the room stated that our room would be cleaned after 3 nights. The hotel itself is very pleasant.
However, the parking garage not so much. It is rather dingy and garbage piled up for days even though they charge an exorbitant self parking fee. I expected more from Hyatt.

Went for a wedding and stayed 2 nights. Hotel lacked a vibe. Pool deck has ping pong table, cabanas, fire pits in the area and great setting but no one serving food and drinks. Lobby was bland, coffee bar overwhelmed and understaffed. We stopped into the bar after returning one evening and found the drinks rather bad (to put it nicely)- glass of wine and old fashion - we paid $40 for them and left after a couple sips. Our room was spacious and clean. Was near the elevator and normally don’t mind but wow these walls are ridiculously thin. Whoosh whoosh every passing. Non stop. We dealt with it but then 2nd morning wanted to sleep in past 7am only to be awoken by guest in room above (?) using the bathroom taking a leak. Yup, could hear that too. Why charge a resort fee if you don’t provide very basic services like housekeeping. Stop taking shortcuts.

The Good: Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean but pretty average. Housekeeping did an excellent job at tidying up the room. The bar and restaurant as well as the breakfast were also very good.

The Bad: The shower had rust on the door hinges and around the drain. The shower was difficult to use and I had no way of adjusting the water pressure. The shower door did not enclose the entire shower, resulting in a soaking wet floor after every use. There was also no fridge even through there was an obvious space for it, as if it was intentionally removed. The location is terrible in the sense that you need a car to get to places within walking distance, as the area is not pedestrian friendly. Even then, the surrounding roads are a nightmare and difficult to navigate. The Wi-Fi is throttled unless you pay extra for faster speeds. I booked through Hotels.com which said it included a free breakfast, but it's somewhat misleading. Instead of a voucher you get a $17 credit per person, per day to put towards your breakfast bill. This covers most entree's but anything over that is billed to your room. Don't buy anything that isn't prepackaged at the mini-mart in the lobby. The sandwiches and "fresh" food are absolutely terrible and incredibly overpriced.

This was a perfect hotel for our family's needs when my son had to move into his accommodation at the UC San Diego campus. Underground parking was available for $30/ night which was very helpful, following a long, tiring drive from the Bay Area. Our room was spacious, quiet, and very clean, with comfortable beds and a modern bathroom. The only thing that disappointed me was the lack of options for breakfast. We ordered room service and ended up spending over a hundred dollars, which was exorbitant for a few pancakes, coffee and French toast.

The location is perfect too: 3 minutes away from the UCSD campus and directly off of Highway 5. The staff were also very impressively helpful and accommodating.

Stayed here for a night before arrival I called to be sure the room we were staying in was clean and ready for check in. We even arrived a few hours after the time I mentioned we would check in. When we got there the check in process was simple. We went up to our room and I inspected the room. Unlike any other hotels during covid there was no seal
On the door acknowledging it has been cleaned. Upon entering the room had a weird dusty smell. I checked the restroom and there were hairs of different lengths in the tub. I was super upset because I was expecting a throughly cleaned room. There was coffee stains on the dresser as well. I called front desk and they said the room was inspected.. which obviously wasnt the case so they moved us down a few rooms. Definitely didnt want to do all the moving and we were there with a toddler but we grabbed some of our things to go to the next room. I wish I was lying but that room also wasn't cleaned very well, That room had black curly hair on the queen beds! GAAAAAAG. Come on! This isn't a cheap motel. Called front desk and spoke with Floyd and to let them know we were just going to stay at the first room instead of moving everything over and hair in the tub was better than the hairs on the bed. We weren't given any apologies, no waived fees or anything for the inconvenience of moving from one room
to the next just to stay in dirty rooms.

We are also Hyatt Members and were unable to check in at the posted 4pm time. This hotel was not organized mid July, '21. You are taking a risk. We had been lucky with all other Hyatt stays...... in Asia, Europe and within NA for the last 11 years. (Opinion) Stick with IHG or Hilton. Unfortunately our special weekend had the worst possible start with our rooms not being ready. Calling ahead to ensure our infant and toddlers could check in a little bit early did not help. Waiting in the lobby was not ideal, and 6 of us trying to get ready for a planned occasion- one room with 2 towels- was just comical. This hotel fell just flat on basic expectations of accommodating our family. The Assistant Operations Manager did reach out to apologize.
