I stayed at the Catamaran last week for an annual conference. By mistake, a table top display and shipping container were left at the event. After speaking with the front desk to inquire if the property still had the display I was forwarded to AJ Cazares in Security. AJ was quick to inform me that they did still have the...

The Catamaran is a great urban resort! It ticked all our boxes for location, price, pool, and convenience. Located on Mission Bay and two blocks from Pacific Beach, you can't go wrong staying here. We got the cheapest room, right off the parking lot, but I have to say, coming home loaded down with wetsuits and bodyboards, it was nice...

We are local but decided to stay 2 nights as a staycation for my 39th birthday and Easter. The location by the bay is fantastic!!!! The weather was perfect and the vibe of this hotel is great. The grounds are very tropical and the beach is beautiful. Complementary beach chairs, free coffee, no resort fees, free wifi are a plus....

This is our favorite place to come with the family to celebrate Easter. So beautiful, the brunch is delicious, with a great variety of food to satisfy any palate. Desserts are scrumptious. This is our I think sevenths or eights year in a row coming to celebrate. The Banquet Captain, Dave Hopper does an outstanding job! Looking forward to many...

We have been coming to this brunch forever, although we took last year off because they were no longer seating on the grass. I am so happy that they had a change of heart because Easter isn't the same without the catamaran! Our server this year was Jon and I have to say that he was the best we have...

We really enjoyed our Easter brunch with family at the catamaran resort, especially the service that David Hopper provided. Simply awesome. All of the staff is very attentive and service oriented. The complimentary ride on the Steamed Riverboat in Mission Bay was a definite plus. The kids really enjoyed the Easter egg hunt, they had a lot of fun 😎

Had a really great stay at Catamaran. The room was a good size for me, my husband and our infant daughter. I had called ahead requesting a crib (which was not guaranteed) and was pleasantly surprised to check in a 9 pm and be told they already had the crib in our room. Nice to not have to ask. Our...

The good: on a beautiful protected beach with rental stuff, has a 5 star restaurant (Oceana, highly ranked here on T/a), Mission neighborhood has lots of shopping and eating, the tropical dense foliage in the resort makes you feel like you are in Hawaii. The Bad: our room was worn out with a dated bathroom, tiny sink and dingy carpets...

My first impression of our room was disappointing, however I came to realize I judged it a bit too quickly. The decor is dated but the room was large with a full kitchen and 2 queen beds. The room and bathroom were clean. The grounds are amazing and kept well. The hotel offers terrific activities, beautiful views, spa services, and...

I wanted a hotel on the beach so in my research I found Catamaran. What a great find! Lovely hotel, beautiful beach, great restaurants, grounds are kept up so well and I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Will definitely return. Lots of dogs and kids but both were well behaved. Guests all very friendly!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
One of the few resorts on Mission Bay to not charge a resort fee! The Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa is a paradisiacal destination located on the shores of Mission Bay and mere steps from San Diego’s famous Pacific Beach. With features including lush tropical gardens and private beach, this Polynesian-themed hotel offers an ideal blend of fun and tranquility all year-round. Established in 1958, the Catamaran is a paradise featuring more than 1,000 varieties of exotic plants and animals from around the world. Palm trees, bamboo, waterfalls and koi ponds appeal to the senses, while playful parrots delight and intrigue guests. The Catamaran’s architecture, reminiscent of the traditional Colonial Hawaiian style, boasts accents including totem poles handcrafted in Bali, art pieces such as tapa cloth from Vanuatu and a beautiful front desk constructed of Black Koa wood imported directly from Tahiti. At the Catamaran, guests are checked into one of 310 guest rooms, studios or suites, each with a private balcony or patio that opens to stunning views of Mission Bay, the Pacific Beach neighborhood and coastline, or the hotel’s lush tropical gardens. All guests are provided a full range of amenities including complimentary Wi-Fi and 24-hour room service. On-site dining options include Oceana Coastal Kitchen, rated by Zagat as one of San Diego’s most anticipated restaurants of 2015 and featuring chef-driven surf and turf dishes. Next door to this signature restaurant is Moray’s, where guests can sip on a signature Moray’s Mai Tai, savor a local craft beer and enjoy daily happy hour specials. Both venues feature a blend of indoor and patio spaces, the latter lined with tiki torches, fire pit tables and lush palms. Guests may also choose to grab a bite poolside at the Catamaran’s full bar and grill which serves up barbecue favorites during the spring and summer months. Another standout summer special is the Catamaran’s signature luaus, featuring live performers that guide guests through the cultures of the South Pacific as they enjoy a Hawaiian buffet. Those who prefer to spend their time on the water can opt for a cruise on the Bahia Belle, a replica of an 1860s-era sternwheeler that tours around Mission Bay. Step back in time and enjoy a colorful sunset from the top deck, or kick up your heels as the vessel becomes a vibrant nightlife destination with live entertainment and a full-service bar. The Catamaran Spa—the only beachfront spa in San Diego—offers a South Pacific-inspired menu of treatments including massages, facials, body wraps, hydrotherapy treatments and more—carried out with all-natural marine and botanical elements. Additional wellness amenities include an outdoor pool and hot tub, beach cabanas, an open air fitness center, seasonal outdoor yoga classes and more. Further vacation activities include rental paddleboards, sailboats, kayaks, surfboards, bicycles and Segways. The Catamaran is also located within the beach towns Mission Beach and Pacific Beach, where guests can stroll the boardwalk or the iconic Crystal Pier, play at the beach or experience a variety of cafes and boutiques. The resort is also within 10 miles of major San Diego attractions such as SeaWorld, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Downtown’s Gaslamp District and the San Diego International Airport. ... more   less
