    I wish I had heeded the other poor reviews about this “resort”…the location to the beach and the bay view are perfect but that’s kind of it... A breakdown of my stars 1- location 2- outside grounds/bay view 1/2-breakfast We stayed in the tower and while I understand the positioning of the bed is so you can enjoy the view from the bed, it’s such a poor layout and not worth all that you’re paying... You stay here for the location and the water activities but don’t let anything else fool you...

Pillows were stained yellow, popcorn ceilings, something black growing on ceiling above the shower, on first day no hot water and bathroom sink clogged, mirrored closet doors were off track making it very difficult to open and close them, drawers in chest of drawers kept opening up after being closed, very spooky, only changed out towels, never made beds or swept the bathroom floor, provided large shampoo and cream rinse bottles which you know they just refilled and passed on to the next guest staying in the room, bathtub would not drain while showering, only two choices for parking $38 a day for self-park or $44 for valet and don't forget about the $36 resort fee charged daily... I would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Diego...

    This hotel requires major room upgrades. We stayed in two suites on the 12 floor of the tower... I booked the first suite in their online system and it kept locking up... I called the reservation office to book the second one and told them I wanted a duplicate room on the same floor and date... We attempted to check in and were told there was only one reservation... It turns out he booked me a room on the date that I called versus the date in the future and was charged for a “no-show” they could not fix this at the hotel, but the reservation center said they would take care of it... The second room had water dripping from the ceiling while a shower was running above it...

Don’t mean to nitpick here but when you stay in a room that averages costing over $500/night you should expect it to be in good condition... I had to log into the WIFI every time I came back to the property... It was like getting 1970 furnishings at 2023 prices... I’ve stayed in $100/night hotels that were in better condition... So if you stay here make sure you get a renovated room if that’s even possible...

We had to ask housekeeping for clean coffee mugs – apparently all they do is empty the trash, replace coffee k-cups, and give you clean towels... Won’t make a bed or change a sheet... So if you stay here make sure you get a renovated room if that’s even possible...

The expectation that the customer is supposed to be grateful to everyone assisting them, new electronic tip suggestions that go far beyond 20%, etc., you know where this is going... Their expectations of customer service harken back to what seems a forgotten age... They try to make sure you enjoy your stay... They check to see if you’re enjoying your stay... If you tell them of a problem they work to resolve it... The staff at the associated restaurants were wonderful... We highly recommend asking for Ron, who we believe truly wanted us to enjoy our experience at the Oceana...

    The room was not ready at check in, the front desk person told me the resort fee's would be waived which I was told later is not possible... When I asked for it to be fixed the manager Cynthia I beleive seemed to be shocked at my concern for security (traveling with a child)... Cynthia the manager also told me I could check out the night before as I had to leave at 3 a.m... The staff later told me that is not possible...

    The staff were so helpful and went out of their way to make our stay great! RANDY, at the front desk really made our stay special... He went above and beyond and graciously upgraded us to a suite with a view of the bay, free of charge!... At first he wasn't able to get us a garden view room, so he compt our parking... But he went back and ended up finding us the most beautiful room and view!... The bellman who helped us move from room to room, ARTURO, was so personable and very helpful... Such a kind soul and wonderful customer service!... Also, the front desk staff allowed us to keep our huge paddleboard in the storage room since we couldn't fit it in the elevator or up the stairs... So very grateful 🙏🏽 Would highly recommend and would stay here again!...

Tasha in Lava Java is so attentive to her customers orders and makes sure everyone is satisfied with their order... All the staff at the resort are courteous and friendly... Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure you want to come back again... They build you a bonfire on the beach and you can make smores fireside...

    ...This is our first vacation together as a new, young couple and he was so incredibly accommodating and inviting!... He waved our parking fee for us because he thought we seemed like a “lovely couple.” It meant so much to us, since it’s hard to find truly LGBT friendly places... He made us feel so seen and welcome!... We told him it was our first valentine’s day together as well as our first trip, and he was able to upgrade our room to the penthouse level with a bay view... All rooms at the resort come with a fridge and microwave but ours was missing... Randy immediately fixed it for us and had both of them sent up and the hotel staff set it up for us... We spent a few hours in the free arcade and the spa... The garden is such a lovely view to walk... There’s a coy/duck pond and sometimes the ducks even say hi while you’re in the (heated) pool!... They also have an exotic bird sanctuary in the garden... The coffee and waters in the room are complimentary... Ice is located on the seventh floor and the lobby... The hotel is also right in the middle of so many good food spots and activities as well as on its own private beach... And while the hotel itself is beautiful, Randy really is the one who made the experience as memorable as possible... He definitely just made this our go to hotel for San Diego...

    We had a really big double queen room. The kitchen is a little outdated but still meets our needs... Room had a separate vanity which is helpful with three girls putting on makeup... Arturo our bellman was wonderfully helpful with getting all our stuff to our room... The front desk staff is super friendly and helpful as well as the valet staff... The hotel is located directly in the bay so you can immediately get to the water and beach and the ocean is right across the street... There is tons of options for dining in the area as well...

    My adult daughter and I spent 5 relaxing days at the Catamaran Resort at the end of January, and we both thought we picked a perfect hotel. Our room was a recently renovated second floor room, overlooking Mission Bay boardwalk and beach... The room was clean and quiet, and the beds were very comfortable... Sipping morning coffee on the balcony as the sun rose over the bay was perfect... The bike rental is right on the resort property, making biking an easy adventure... Kayak rental is also right on the property, so we spent a beautiful afternoon kayaking in calm Mission Bay... We walked to restaurants in the neighborhood and on Pacific Beach... The hot tub was clean and relaxing... I highly recommend the Catamaran resort...

    We stayed on the 12th floor Bay View suite with a view of Mission Bay and PB... Live music at Oceana restaurant, watching seaworld fireworks, view of pacific beach and the bay from balcony, heated hot tub and fitness center overlooking the bay were memorable surprises... Probably the best place I have stayed at In PB... Ryan and Kim from front desk were super nice and took care of our stay...

    ...We also visited, and loved all of the ponds throughout the resort with the koi fish, turtles and ducks. We loved the pool, and the video arcade was a big hit with my grandsons for sure!... The resort is such a magical place and the people working there make it so inviting... We will definitely be back to stay here soon...

We felt safe to let our boys go anywhere on the property which was BEAUTIFUL and had lots to explore... There is a coffee bar in case you want to grab n go and a wee gift shop... There were plenty of umbrellas, and beach chairs... They have parrots, ducks and koi fish for the little ones... We did not go to the pool this trip but it looked welcoming... They do not have complete daily housekeeping service, however anything you need is just a text message away; including a roll away bed, crib, water, clean towels and more toiletries...

    We were met by the valet who were pleasant and easy to work with... Ryan took time to tell me all my options and we decided on a room on the 2nd floor with an amazing view of the bay... Our room was beautiful and newly refurbished... When we stopped gazing at the bay, we took a walkaround the beautiful lush gardens that made us feel like we were on a wonderful island...

We stay at the Catamaran each year and love the property and the location on the bay and a block from the beach. We have alway had a great experience with staff and our accommodations here. This year we had extended family with us and multiple rooms. Unfortunately in the checkin process we were assigned rooms in separate areas in spite of our request to be near one another. We wanted to thank Randy at checkin for his patient and positive help to address our issue. He worked hard to move our rooms into one area which included an upgraded room for our grandmother to ensure we were all together and delighted with our stay. We are thankful for his quick and proactive work completed with smile and warmth that help turn a potential negative experience to an outstanding positive one. Thank you!

This expertly run resort is absolutely worth a trip, or in our case, a triannual family visit. It is THE best kept secret. Everything about The Catamaran Resort is next to perfection. From their exceptional bay front views, the luxurious pool, remarkable staff, and delectable Oceana Coastal Kitchen Restaurant. I would suggest the seabass sandwich followed later by an espresso martini. Absolutely superb! Did I mention, location, location, location!? There is nowhere else to experience the bay front views of well-known Mission Bay in such indulgent, yet charming Polynesian style. This resort offers accommodations for families, seniors, and even business people, yet is intimate enough for a romantic getaway. Soak up the sun while yacht watching, take out your paddle and surf boards, or grab a drink and get to know Cornell and Bianchi, The Catamarans local parrots. Having great leadership is critical for a successful resort. You see, great leaders don't just inspire their teams to work harder and achieve more, they also create a positive work culture that fosters growth and happiness. The Catamaran Resort exemplifies this theory starting with HITOMI KATO, the Assistant Front Office Manager. Hitomi and her staff not only met, but exceeded our expectations. She made my family feel as if we were long time friends. Her friendly demeanor and thoughtful countenance set a next level example for quality customer service. We were treated to elite hospitality during our stay at the Catamaran Resort. Everything you could ever need or want is found at this exceedingly impressive resort. We stay at this hotel every year and when we went to make a reservation for 2024, Renee Stauffer was the one helping us. We had so many problems trying to find the dates and rooms that were going to work for us and that’s when Renee stepped in. Going above and beyond does not even begin to describe what this wonderful woman did for us. She did a bunch of research and got back to us with options and helped us to make sure that we could have our favorite trip of the year. Called the Catamaran to make reservations for next year. I talked to the most amazing, conscientious rep I have ever talked to. Rene Stauffer went above and beyond in her job. She called me back several times to make sure we could have the week we wanted for our family of 10. She was awesome and so nice.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in a bayfront room at the Catamaran after Thanksgiving. We were greeted by Randy at the desk who provided excellent customer service. He made sure we knew about all of the amenties and events provided by the hotel and that we were satisfied with our room. The bayfront rooms are newly renovated and very comfortable. We enjoyed having our morning coffee on the balcony watching the boat activity. The chairs on the lawn were great for relaxing. It was convenient and fun to rent a boat and bikes onsite. We enjoyed dinner by one of the firepits one night. The grounds are lush and well kept. Fantastic experience, we will be back.

I stayed here twice in the past two months and called and booked a night for my daughter and her husband. Renee, the reservationist was so helpful. She is the same one who helped me with my reservations the last two times. It was actually because of her and the other staff members that I chose to book here rather than another hotel. Renee also informed me of special that was going on, so I also booked a weekend in December for my birthday.

I have just returned from ANOTHER fantastic stay at the Catamaran Hotel! The weather was perfect and as ALWAYS the staff made me feel like family. Everything from ensuring that I got the requested room to ensuring that my stay was perfect was attended to with dispatch. I always give a shout out to those who ensure a great stay. The list is always long and this will be no exception! General Manager Jim Chester always does an excellent job of making sure that I am comfortable. Director of Guest Services-Scott,Front Office Manager- Roberto and Assistant Front Office Manager- Hitomi{Thank You Hitomi!} as well as Supervisors Hannah{There you go Hannah!!!!},Cynthia and Jenny. The Front Desk,being an extremely demanding job is GREATLY served by Joanne,Ryan,Kimberly,Randy,Sarah and Jade. The Night Staff-Supervisor Leslie with Mayra and Nicole always doing a great job! Concierge and Bell Desk- Supervisor Greg with Mick,Michael,Parker and Marco,always GREAT to talk with you all!! Valet Supervisor Edgar,with Pascual,Augusto,Alan and Michel,always ensuring GREAT and speedy service. Security-Ray,Antonino,Joseph,Jose,Aron,Mel and Alex along with Maintenance Steve and John who took great care of things during a Utility Company Power Failure. Also from the Food Service Aspect,Managers Jessica,Chris and Matthew along with Hailey,Haley and Emma at Lava Java. Thank You! From Oceana-Mike M,Gracy O,Daniel Dylan,Jose,Morgan,Jose,Jenny D,Clare,Kans,April,Stephen,Mary,Arissa,Vames{Hope I got the name right!}Pedro,Ron,Gracy,Brad,Melle,Jose V,Jessa and Nadia. From Morays-Matt,Iza and Blue. I know that I am forgetting people and I apologize for that! During my stay,the Hotel experienced a Power Outage from the Local Utility from about 9:30pm to about 6:15am,the next morning. The staff on duty at that time did an OUTSTANDING job of ensuring the comfort and safety of ALL Guests. As a person well versed in Emergency Procedure myself, I really appreciated the professionalism,especially of Edgar,Cynthia,Mick as well as Engineering-John and Steve. Security also made sure everybody was looked after. An OUTSTANDING job by one and all! Cant wait to come back!!! I almost forgot! The Reservations Staff-Diante,Isabella,Jolyn and Patrick,along with EVERYBODY else who have always managed my stay so well. Thank You to All!!!

Last weekend over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, my family stayed at the Catamaran Hotel in Mission Beach San Diego. On that holiday at the front desk I met Joanne who was very kind & incredibly accommodating to a special request. I asked if I could change rooms on the Friday after Thanksgiving which was my wife’s Birthday. Joanne was able to move us to a bay front room with an incredible view for this special occasion.
