The Bay Club Hotel & Marina receives acclaim for its spacious, clean rooms with picturesque marina views and its prime location close to attractions. Guests consistently praise the friendly service that enhances their stay. While the pool and onsite restaurant are often commended, some guests feel that the rooms, particularly the bathrooms, could benefit from modernization.
Opinions on value are mixed, with some guests mentioning reasonable rates and others pointing out additional costs. Despite occasional noise from nearby events, the overall atmosphere is appreciated, although updates are suggested.

Detailed Reviews
We spent 3 nights at the Bay Club last week and it was wonderful. Really good happy hours with half price appetizers that are more than a meal. All the staff are very attentive and bend over backwards to help the guests. There is a beach right across the street and plenty of places to walk or drive to. We had an upstairs room with a view of San Diego Bay and we could watch all the activity on the water. The room was very clean and modern and we felt comfortable with the sterilization of everything. I think they even have a free shuttle to and from the airport. You wont be disappointed. And free coffee in the morning!

Splendid hotel! Staff was helpful, courteous and friendly, both at the hotel and the Quarterdeck restaurant, where the food and drinks were good, the service was excellent and the setting to die for. The pool and jacuzzi were very nice and during our stay, never crowded. We had a 2nd floor room on the marina side where the views were wonderful from the floor to ceiling windows and the private balcony. First floor rooms on the bay side didn't have much of a view (basically, the parking lot) and shared a balcony with another room; I don't recommend those. The room was clean, as were the bathroom and the linens. There were plenty of drawers in which to store personal belongings. It's a pet peeve of mine that many hotels are deficient in this regard. There's a mini fridge and a coffee maker in the room and we requested a micro-wave oven. And the unexpected entertainment from concerts at next door Humphreys was a bonus. Shelter Island itself is a beautiful location. All in all, we really appreciated our stay at the Bay Club Hotel and Marina.

Bay Club is our go to hotel in San Diego, it is quaint and clean with fantastic views of the harbor and the Bay. The on site restaurant makes grabbing a quick bite or a cocktail a breeze and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Rooms have comfortable beds and overall it is a quiet hotel, it's hard to beat the sunrise over the city in the morning.

I usually don’t do reviews, but this one is a must, we Stayed at this hotel after very long search and reading reviews about it, just for the location and it says renovated, we arrived to the hotel early I asked for early check in as our original flight was canceled and we too earlier flight, they to
D me over the phone that they will accommodate my request, well that didn’t happen and we got the room a little after 3!
Room was not that clean, view was ok, the sink does drain properly it take few minutes to drain, it was annoying, the coffee machine was broken didn’t use it once, first day I woke up with a huge bug or spider bite on my left leg, when I asked the front desk she didn’t even care, I requested the bed sheet to be changed, she said they don’t change bed sheet unless if we ask !!
The food was horrible and expensive, for this quality of food it’s was too expensive, their staff was not friendly at all, oh and that lady who brought extra towels for our room few times and a rolling bed with extra pillows was mad every single time and huffing and puffing when we open the door, like we asked too much when we don’t have enough stuff in the room. I really sympathize with hard working people, because I’m one of them, I work 6-7 days a week and have 3 kids, life is not easy, this was my only vacation I had since Covid, I paid everything they asked for, even their parking was horrible and $18.00 a day, other hotels have better parking and cheaper.
Luckily we didn’t have to stay too much in the room because we were out every day, but definitely not what you want to go if Giu want a nice place to stay.
Will not go back again.

We booked a room at the Bay Club Hotel last minute and did not know what to expect, but we absolutely loved it! The rooms were clean. They had taken many covid precautions, although they do not require masks for vaccinated guests. The pool was awesome and overlooking the marina. We took food from the restaurant back to our room for one breakfast and dinner, both meals were very good and reasonably priced. The manager, Mike was very helpful, as well as the rest of the front desk and other staff. There is a little beach area right across the street with fire pits. Not really for swimming, but nice to dip your feet in. Plenty or restaurants and other shops in the area. There is parking above ground and a large lot below ground, and only payed $15 or $18 dollars a night which I thought was very reasonable. Definitely a little pricier than other hotels in San Diego, but if you are looking for a relaxing, well maintained, high quality hotel, in a nice area of San Diego by the water, I highly recommend the Bay Club hotel.

We had a room with 2 queens and stayed for 3 nights and we loved the location and amenities. There is a bar and breakfast area though the main kitchen and dining is still closed you can order off the menu at the bar. We had a package with free breakfast and the meals are cooked to order and are large. Everyone from the front desk to Waiters and waitress and porter so very friendly...willing to bring anything to your room you might need.
Only thing I did not care for was the fact that the room had wood laminate flooring rather than carpet. But we had a nice Balcony and a Marina view

The Bay Cub Hotel and Marina is an older property which is exceptionally maintained with many upgrades. We stayed week of June 12th with our granddaughter. Room was spacious and very clean and had an outdoor balcony with seating for two. Our 2nd floor room overlooking the bay had amazing views with plenty of hotel parking both underground and in front. The location on Shelter Island is close to all activities. Walking trail and park next to bay were well maintained and clean. Quarterback restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Food and service were excellent. Happy hour with 1/2 price on appetizers and specials on drinks (4-7 PM) is not to be missed in addition to the awesome views of the marina. Pool and hot-tub were warm, clean and accessible. Perhaps most outstanding of this property was the service. From front desk, to housekeeping staff, to pool maintenance every employee was friendly and offering their help. This really made our stay most enjoyable. Highly recommend as you won't be disappointed.

Bring your walking shoes, sun visor & binoculars. Sit in your bay front room or outside on the bay and watch the world cruise by including military and private world class boats.. There is a safe walking path and a launch area where you can be entertained as owners try to launch their boat. Stand by the pool and have a drink while listening to concerts.

We came into San Diego to visit my son in the military for Thanksgiving. We had rented an AirBnB and found that is was far from our expectations. A search of options brought us to the Bay Club Hotel and Marina. We could not have been happier! The price was very reasonable and the accommodations were exactly what we were looking for - together with privacy (we opted for a suite). I could literally feel the stress disappear sitting on the lovely deck overlooking the marina. Staff were very helpful and friendly. It is a little a bit older, but kept well and clean. Meals were all quite good (including a Thanksgiving dinner). Location was perfect for our activity packed long weekend. Plenty to do within walking distance. We will definitely return!

We spent most of our time at other hotels next door and this hotel had very limited pool lounges, umbrellas and shaded table to eat outside. They told me they had ordered umbrellas and they have not arrived, so I went onto Home Depot website and they had PLENTY in stock so I told the manager. DON'T BELIEVER the photos on their website. Management did NOT care about our stay! !

Dear Trek741831, Thank you for staying with us and posting your review. I am sorry that we were not able to provide an umbrella at your table and for the reduced seating capacity we have on the patio due to social distancing. Unfortunately, Home Depot umbrellas do not hold up in a commercial use and you'll be glad to know our order arrived and are in use. We hope to have the opportunity to make it up to you in the future. Sincerely, Mike Ardelt, General Manager
