There are many reasons why San Diego is one of the most-visited and beloved cities in California. There is the wonderful weather (an average annual high of 71 degrees), endless outdoor activities, diverse neighborhoods, plenty of culture, family-friendly attractions and everything in between The Fairmont Grand Del Mar also offers two dozen weekly outdoor activities across the 400 acres – plus an outdoor fitness center – so that you can take in the dramatic canyon scenery. Hit the links on our 18-hole private Tom Fazio-designed golf course, then embrace well-being at our five-star spa. Lounge with a cool drink by one of four secluded palm-lined pools and dine on local artisan fare at six different venues, including San Diego’s only three-Michelin starred restaurant, Addison. Breathe deeply, dream wildly, and discover a soulful sanctuary where finding yourself comes naturally. Magic sits around every corner and within every conversation. It enchants through the charm of Los Peñasquitos Canyon and the sunshine of San Diego. It’s where classic meets cool, the fine unwinds into fun and inspiration leads to immersion.

I loved the location and scenery, comfortable room and fabulous food. But $50+ daily parking costs, a tiny salad for $22 and a $15 fee for a fed ex they lost is offputting. The design and dim signage hurt as it took me nine turns to fet to my room and guests get lost.

I have stayed at the Fairmont Del Mar several times. It is the only hotel I stay in when visiting San Diego. The hotel staff (every one) is simply fantastic. I enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the canyon views. Look forward to visiting again.

One of the finest resorts we have ever experienced. The service is impeccable, the physical property beautiful and the amenities the best "Adult Camp" around. We played golf 3 days and had great lessons which actually had an impact. If you're a golfer, having a caddy is a life changing experience. The spa facilities and services were exceptional and the food and beverages fabulous. If you can secure a resi at Addison, it's worth every penny. Truly a gastronomic adventure. We will make this an annual event and the fact that it's 2 hours from LA by car is even better. Forbes rates this as a 5 star resort but we'd add 2 more if we could.

The photos of the resort are accurate. The property is clean and beautifully decorated. It's definitely not a minimalist design. It truly resembles a European villa with opulent décor. There is artwork throughout the property and even the rooms include beautiful frames on the walls. Fountains are also found throughout the property and offer an additional flair to the background. The concierge desk was very helpful and eager to help us get the most out of our stay. Steven, in particular, provided a lot of information about the area and made some helpful recommendations as this was out first trip. We used the complimentary car service and our drivers were incredibly friendly and informative. Jay was our unofficial tour guide and historian and offered us so much information about the community. We really appreciated the care he took to teach us about the area and recommended places to visit. The resort offers many activities and we wish we had been able to take part in more. Our daughter really enjoyed trying the archery and seeing the horses. The pools were lovely but could have been a bit warmer. Unfortunately the family pool area was under renovation while we were there so we weren't able to enjoy poolside snacks or drinks but we saw it on our first day and it was very nice. The loungers at the pool were very comfortable. The food onsite is good and we enjoyed the in-room dining most. The resort is expensive but it's to be expected with a luxury property We did have a negative encounter on our last day but I reached out to management to express my disappointment and am satisfied with how my concern was handled. I would definitely recommend the GDM for anyone wanting to relax and feel pampered.

My wife and I have been staying for years at the Grand del Mar, soon after Papa Manchester built this resort. We had not been back for a few Covid years and felt it had lost some of its luster soon after the Fairmont bought it before the pandemic. But I am very happy to report that it has regained its ambience in both service and cleanliness. Each and every hotel employee we came into contact with treated us with a smile and could not have been more helpful. They all seemed to genuinely love working in this hotel environment and acted as if they were glad to make us feel welcome and pampered. The entire property feels like a huge Italian estate and the rooms are spacious and gilded to the nines. The adult pool and Jacuzzi are water playgrounds not to be missed. The food was delicious and the patio dining was superb. This hotel is rated #3 in San Diego. It is not #3. It should be #1 in every connoisseur's book.

Spent three amazing nights at this beautiful resort. The rooms are beautiful and large with great outdoor space. The grounds are impeccable. The staff is incredible. Special shout out to the amazing team at the adult pool and the valet team. Overall, our stay was amazing. Two things that were annoying were the valet parking rates and the exorbitant onsite food prices. On top of the $60 resort fee there is a $65 valet parking fee with no option to self-park. That makes the nightly rate $125 more than the published rate. Even more annoying are the egregious food and beverage prices. When we first arrived, we each had a sandwich for $39 and a cocktail which was around $25. After that, we got all our food off site. I couldn’t help but feel gouged by the food prices. If they were more reasonable, I am sure more people would be eating at the resort.

I went to the Fairmont Grand Del Mar to meet my brother and elderly mother. This is a gorgeous property, with a 3 Michelin star restaurant and other dining options. In this beautiful hotel, the thing that impressed me the most was the employees, specially Neil and Christian at the Front Desk. They were the kindest to us, even helped lower the height of the bed, so my mom could be more confortable, gave us advice were to go when she got ill, and I stayed in several Fairmonts in the past and never encountered such excellent service in general, but specially the Front Desk impressed us. The Valet/Bellman were also excellent and at Concierge Shel was just the kindest. The Spa attendants were also amazing, the massage therapists was excellent. She was from Lithuania and unfortunately I didn't get the spelling of her name.I hope to come back in November with my husband to experience this amazing property and staff. As we say in Hawaii, Ahui ho, see you soon!
