The room was small. Very noisy outside and inside after midnight. Upper floor steps are loud. Conveniente to walk around the septs. Next to serration army which seems creepy at night. hard to find a good parking spot.

Hotel's Favorite
I recently completed a one night stay at this hotel and was very impressed overall. I can usually get a sense almost right away how my stay at a hotel will go based on my interaction with the check in staff. At this hotel, they were professional, friendly and quite accommodating. I appreciated the small extras offered to guests, such as the free glass of wine (or beer) at check in. For the hotel, I'm sure this is a small expense, but it goes a long way toward guest goodwill. My room was spacious with an excellent layout. Although I was initially disappointed with the lack of a view that an interior room offered, in the end this was a good thing, as the neighborhood can get quite raucous on a weekend night with all the bars and clubs nearby. Some reviewers have expressed concern about the safety of the neighborhood and also the number of homeless people. I didn't feel unsafe at all, but as a life long city person, I am perhaps less intimidated by typical city life than others. If you are looking to be immersed in a real downtown city environment and also stay in a really classy, well run hotel, I highly recommend the Andaz.

Overpriced food and costly rooms. Valet parking was additional 50/night and took 30min to get car. Location was decent. Pool was clean but small with limited seating. Rooftop restaurant was kinda dirty and overpriced for a simple breakfast sandwich. It was good just expensive

What a nice hotel in the midlle of the Gas Lamp District. We went for a one night stay and the Padres baseball game. A short 8 minute walk to the stadium. Great room, comfortable bed. No complaints here. Very nice staff, too. STK is the restaurant on site so quality throughout. Make this your stop, you won't be disappointed. For me a quick Amtrak Train ride from Los Angeles, then the Trolley to the Gas Lamp District and three block walk to the hotel. PERFECT!!!

This place is amazing. Awesome clean modern rooms. The perfect boutique like hotel. The best hotel in downtown San Diego in my opinion but I’m a little bit of a hotel snob. I stay here often for date nights and special occasions.

hotel was ok. close from restaurant/bars, etc. room was clean and nice but it was a bit noisy. they even have an earplugs for the customers lol. Don't forget to check your bill detail when checking out. We didn't even have a breakfast but it was added to our bill. when we told the front desk girl at the time of check out, she gave us an attitude just as we were telling her a lie after having a breakfast. she even said 'there are lots of people who will have breakfast and tell us at the check out that they didn't have any breakfast" ... what the..? It was our first visit to this hotel but never coming back.

Tiny bathrooms, difficult to maneuver around it. Pillows were uncomfortable. They were too bulky. And parking was only valet which was an additional charge. Didn’t even know where the car was taken because it took them 20-30 min to bring it to you.

Really enjoyed this hotel. Stayed for 3 days including July 4th, so got to see some amazing fireworks from the roof top Bar. Check in quick and pleasant, given a free glass of chilled wine after a long drive, always a bonus! room lovely and large. Great bathroom, nice towels etc. Asked for a kettle to use and was supplied with one quite quickly. Did not notice any noise at night in our room. Staff all very pleasant and helpful. Used the rooftop pool, which was great. Not far to walk to the Gaslamp Quarter for bars, restaurants etc.

This hotel is located kind of on the fringe of the Gaslamp Quarter so it's quite convenient to the area. However, right across the street from it is the Salvation Army building, which means there is a large number of homeless people around sleeping in tents. Also kitty corner from the hotel is a private parking lot, where the overnight parking rate is $35 instead of the hotel's valet parking rate of $52. We moved our car there after the first night because it took 35 minutes (!!!!) to get our car the morning after our check-in. The rooms are on the small side and are quite noisy since it's not a tall building and you're quite close to the revelry. I'm sure it's much worse on weekends. The hotel has probably received multiple complaints about this since they provide ear plugs at the bedside. Be forewarned. There is an annoying destination fee of ~$34 (taxes incl.) with amenities that were not very useful for us. The daily $10 F&B credit basically got you part of a free drink at the bar. There was supposed to be a free hotel-branded tote bag in the room, which was not there. I would have given this hotel a 3-Star rating except for the gracious service by the Security Team, especially Tamara. She was diligent in retrieving items that I left in the hotel safe and getting them safely delivered back to me at home. Kudos!!!
