    Good stay
I thought the front desk staff were constantly hospitable and helpful. The printer was not working in the business center when I was staying and they could not have been more helpful in offering to get what I needed printed. Globalist recognition was very good with a suite upgrade. I tried breakfast at both the upstairs restaurant and a to go order in my room. The restaurant dining went a little smoother. It took a bit of time to be seated as no staff were around when I arrived but everything was prompt after that. In room dining was a little more tricky and it appeared the root cause was that the person taking the in room dining did not have access to the menu in front of him which I would suggest is a good idea. There are a number of fresh pressed juices on the menu with fun names, one of which was lemonade and I ordered it. Unfortunately regular lemonade, was delivered instead of the juice named lemonade on the menu and that was disappointing given I'm trying to cut down on added sugars. There was a pastry on the menu that I wasn't sure how to pronounce so I said that it was a the second one down the pastry list or whatever its placement was and the guy was like yeah I have no idea what you're talking about because I can't see the menu. In both circumstances, the staff member being at least vaguely familiar with the menu or having it in front of him would have prevented both of these issues and I don't think is an unreasonable way to be prepared when taking in room dining orders. I provide this information not to complain, because the overall experience was fine and the food was decent, but to provide information that I hope will make life easier for the staff and other guests moving forward. Sleep quality was mixed. On the Thursday night I was there it was quiet. On the Friday night there was quite loud music coming from another hotel room but I couldn't tell where from and had to use ear plugs to be able to get to sleep. The stay suited my purposes well and I would return.

Amazing service, location, and rooftop pool/bar
We booked 2 Free Nights here as part of our Hyatt credit card for a family of 4 (a 2 yo and 4mo). When we arrived, the front desk informed us they upgraded us to the Presidential Suite because it seemed we needed more room. My husband thought they were joking! But lo and behold, we had a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite, with bunk beds in 1, a bar in the suite, and a giant duck in the master bathroom that thoroughly amused my toddler. They had also prepared the crib ahead of time, including a rubber duck, blanket, and baby shampoo. Amazing service! Location is also great, on the outskirts of the Gaslamp district, walking distance to everything. If you have time, you should check out the Breakfast Republic, an amazing brunch place 2 blocks away. The rooftop pool is heated which we also enjoyed, and is adjacent to the bar. Drinks are yummy and there's a giant firepit as well. Highly recommend this hotel. While it doesn't appear to be family friendly from the outside, their service is amazing and we felt well cared for.
Hello 813LizL, Thank you so much for staying with us and so excited you were able to experience our Star Suite! Truly amazing and the duck definitely adds to the enjoyment, ha-ha! Please come back again soon! Sincerely, MC

    Great hotel
A really nice hotel in downtown San Diego, rooms were large, clean with the added benefits of free water, sodas and snacks on a daily basis. The hotel is very close to the restaurants and bars but don’t forget to visit the roof to bar and swimming pool. All the staff were helpful, friendly and tried to make sure you had all the information you need for both inside ang outside the hotel
Hello Grumpy1456, Thank you for staying with us and sharing your experience! Please come back again soon! MC

asked for a room with 2 beds, got a room with 1 bed and was told no 2 bed-rooms were available. Glass shower that was visible in the room was very strange and uncomfortable for my friend and I. The door to the shower was very difficult to close, and the door to the room was very difficult to open from the inside, but not from the outside, which was strange. The rooftop lounge is lovely, but gives a perfect view to watch the homeless people camped outside as they steal from one another and pee on each others personal belongings. yes, that really is what we watched as we ate our breakfast one morning. I do not recommend this hotel and will not stay there again.

We stayed here for a birthday celebration of a friend that took place in the Gaslamp Quarter. The photos of the hotel and rooms online looked very nice, yet in person, the hotel is dated and not upkept...definitely not worth the cost of the stay (north of $500/night). We stayed in room 321, on the side of the hotel facing the street with the Double Duece bar, and between there, the sirens, cars, motorcycles, music, and people yelling, we could not sleep until 4am. We also ate at the STK restaurant, of which is more like a Vegas club than a steakhouse. We had a reservation, yet had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, and then could not hear each other nor the server. The food was good, yet for the price point, the experience was not great. When we checked out the next morning and shared our poor experience with the front desk attendant, he empathized with us for the noise, saying our room was on the nosiest side of the hotel, yet did not offer a discount on our stay nor any other concessions. We also had to wait for our car in valet for almost a half an hour when we checked out as well. Overall, it was a very disappointing stay, and we will not return to this location. Hyatt typically offers a much higher standard of service and experience than what we had here, so we are uncertain why this hotel does not meet that level of quality, and care more for their guests.

The title says it all.....almost. It does not mention the mold & mildew in the bathroom. Nor does it mention the general trashy ambience of the property. Hyatt should be embarrassed to have their name associated with this train wreck of a hotel.

All I can say about this hotel and the staff are both are amazing! My fiancé and I came here to celebrate my birthday and it was absolute perfection! If you are looking for a beautiful hotel, wonderful staff, and centrally located in the Gaslamp district then this is the hotel for you. To top it off on out last day they had a rooftop Salsa dance party by the pool which was so fun! Definitely a hotel to check out if you are coming to San Diego!

Overall, the hotel was nice, clean, and in a great location. Very close to San Diego downtown nightclubs and restaurants. I booked two rooms for my family. One of the rooms was noticeably smaller (about 100sf) than what was advertised on the hotel’s website. The room description was not correct and thus disappointed me. Since it is close to San Diego nightlife area, it was noisy even after midnight. The traffic/street noise resumes from early morning. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you expect to have a quiet night sleep.

This hotel says it is not green and there will not be housekeepers until you stay for 3 nights. I was there for an extended stay and had no one to change towels or empty the trash. What a disaster! The area is also very loud and I never had a good night sleep the 5 days I was a resident there.

Pros: 1. Great Location located in the Center of the Gas Lamp District, walking distance to all the great restaurants and nightlife. 2. The hotel staff is fantastic. They catered to all our needs. Cons: 1. The hotel rooms feel a bit dated. 2. We stayed on the 2nd Floor, the minute you walk out of the elevators on the 2nd Floor it stinks like a sewer. We then walked into our corner room, as soon as you enter you could smell a mold mildewy smell in the room. 3. Pool area is small with few lounge chairs available. 4. We had dinner at STK, food that was served was not fresh, especially the fish dishes.
